Looks like I've got it fixed so it stays minimized. Probably broke the mobile site instead

Yeah I can’t get it to close at all now on the mobile site. Every other header works fine just not that one.

Can't we just delete it?

I was able to minimize it, although it simultaneously took me to the actual link, as well.

From my testing, that section is collapsed by default on the mobile site, and you don't even have the ability to open it up. Now, I only have an iphone to test on, or the computer set to pretend like it's mobile, so I can't say for certainty that every mobile device will be have the same way.

You can click into the empty space below the last entry, and it should shrink the section down as well. Clicking the banner area, unless you get it juuuuuust right, will (unfortunately) take you to the recent-threads listing instead, like what happened to Jeremiah12LGeek. It should still keep track of your preference though - so going back to the main page, it should be hidden after that. I believe it will revert once again, if you've cleared all of your browser cookies. Like a lot of the settings in ProBoards, it relies on the browser's cookies to store configuration data.

To highlight the threads that members are currently participating in, then users who choose to keep it open can see where the action is.
