I'm roughly 10000% sure those magic archers are Solas' lackeys. The shards they're using remind me of the elven mosaics.

I have not watched it yet... But my incongruity meter is through the roof. We get nothing for months just random hints here and there sprinkled at events and now a random day in August we get...this. Ah screw it... a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. It's not a random day. It's the first day of Gamescom.

I guess it's the lack of Inquisitor. I really wanted to have control over them in the next game...and see to finish their story.

I really don't understand why they decided to have Solas as the antagonist or end Trespasser that way if they were going to have a new pc.  Because "Thanks for buying our games. Fuck you. Love Bioware." I guess. I think maybe this is being a bit unreasonable. Sure, I want the Inquisitor to return as the PC, but at the same time, getting the same character as the PC in a second Dragon Age was always something I realistically kept my expectations lower for. The closest we’ve ever gotten was Awakening, which is just an expansion. Heck, even having multiple PC’s to a single villain even has precedence as of DA2: Legacy. Personally, I look forward to going through the recruitment of an entirely new roster, new friendship paths, and of course, a new romance without having to cheat on the previous game’s LI.

The likelihood that Inkys were going to be sole PCs was plausible, but not the likeliest compared to other options (dual protag, switchable protag, prominent NPC we'd have a measure of control of, NPC), but by no means excludes their heavy involvement, especially when it comes to the Solas arc. Oh, I'm sure they'll be in the game...as a NPC that completely bastardizes them. Just like the others. If they aren't the PC, do us a favor Bioware and don't have them in the game at all. You've ruined them enough. I'm not sure we can tell exactly what they have in store for either Inky or the new PC, what they have learned from past games and what new routes to tell a story they now have compared to before, so I'm definitely withholding my judgement in this regard before I try the game itself or learn enough to judge it's not for me (which is unlikely, even if they cut Inquisitor entirely, because I'd be super-curious how they're going to address this). Anyhoo... I do like the contrast between your avatar and description right under it  Like, sincerely, not in a mocking fashion - that's just funny.

I know that the Inquisitor wasn't as likely as other pc choices, but it is what fit with the story. I really dislike having an ongoing story that randomly switches the pc. I don't have any interest in playing as a Lord of Fortune, so I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. They look somewhat like a pirate.

They proved that with the fucking Trespasser DLC. I'm not. I have no interest in them now. It would take a ton for them to even earn me being even slightly interested in their games again. The one thing I would really want above anything else is that for every new PC they introduce, the previous one make no appearance at all. If the Inquisitor has some involvement in the story, I’d much prefer it be through a fixed character that serves as an agent, rather than the Inquisitor being the Nick Fury that I have to be subjected to their autopilot dialogue and possibly breaking the pace of the game by going through another character creator, like we did with Hawke.

Well no, that is quite an unwarranted overreaction. We don't really know anything about the story yet, so you really can't say whether they have not told a 'complete story' or released a DLC that 'did nothing', especially considering how many things it has set up, entirely aside form suggesting Inky's continued involvement in the plot. And that part has simply not hinged solely on Inky returning as main protag (heck, Inky COULD have been a protag and still not deliver a complete arc).

So it turns out I have a small jaded streak in me considering most of the rah rah fan fare sounded like rah rah fan fare. However what amazed me and won me over are the game's visuals. Now it was sometimes tough to tell which was which ( for instance a piece of concept art could also be for Edmenton) and the graphics we got were also stunning. But it also worries me since 'concept art' is the earliest stage and could easily be changed or them not being able to live up to it somehow. So all those epic cities might not end up in game which will be dissapointing and it'll just be Crestwood all over again. On the good news stuff 'early production' sounds like this is the official benchmark of them being in production which means it's now extremely likely we will get DA 4.. one day. As far as the new protag thing...I actually see little in the way of info on the protag one way or another. The only things are: solas's speech And I believe it was Patrick's comments on this game will about not having power. Also the speculation earlier about where we are going...is that just guesses from the concept art cause I heard no mention. |

I guess this confirms a new protag for DA4. Oh, gee. Like I've been saying? Anyway, that was about as underwhelming as I expected it to. Barely even a gameplay prototype. The game would be 3 years away, at the very least, in a good year. I'm going for 4, with a possible delay into year 5. |

Ok my sleep and rest of tomorrow is officially cancelled. I AM SO EXCITED OMG this is WAAAYYY more than I ever expected from Bioware in 2020 - The dwarven thaigs look AMAZING - The concept art in general looks AMAZING - Solas' new armour is...wow. Also, he's still wearing his amulet which is verrrrry interesting. And does the wolf mean he's two separate entities or...hmmm - I really want Audric as a companion - Rasaan too - going by the art it looks like the veil will come down middle/end of game - I'm sooo excited to see more wardens especially if it has to do with weisshapt drama |
