As long as the teams are separate and headed up by talented people, it should be good in theory. But BioWare is 0/3 atm, with every title worse than the last, two of them objectively put franchises “on ice”. And this looks to do no better. It legitimately angers me to look at the Witcher series and see what could have been.

That is, in fact the same VA. But it's amazing that they managed to have Isabela wearing less clothes, yet also be less attractive. DAO Isabela was way more attractive than DAV and was wearing a normal leather armor. And I'm not talking about physical attractiveness alone. They did my girl dirty for sure. I was never a fan of her not wearing pants in BG2, because that is just common sense, especially as a close combat fighter, but this is downright hilarious.

You can be negative, comrade. You must first begin with your affirmations. Then pull a bharv. Bring it around town. Bring it aroooooooound town. Then you must begin every negative comment with “I love this game, the devs, and the following comment is a thought experiment and not at all true:”. Something like this: I love OG Bioware and in fact I enjoyed post-peak Bioware games like ME3 and still replay them often. But this new DA just doesn't do it for me. And it goes way beyond the Taash lecturing: I don't like the script, nor the artistic direction, nor the combat (eliminating greatswords is unforgivable). They finally restored the Rogue's ability to use long swords, only to take the most emblematic two handed weapon from Warriors. Remember when any weapon (save staffs) could be used by ANY class? Rogues had their own two-handed backstab animation, that's how awesome DAO was. Not to mention the moral flexibility DAO allowed that is nowhere to be found in DAV, the worst offender. If they do this to ME, Bioware will truly be done for me (speaking as someone who was forgiving with post-ME2 ME). Tbh, I don't have a problem with Taash being non binary - I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I think, they should have stayed with less modern terms. I was happy, that they had a lesbian character with Sera (being lesbian myself), but she never used that term. Or Krem being transgender male. he never used that term and Iron Bull used a Qunari term instead - everyone knew, what they meant and it was still very much in line with the game.
There are transgender npcs in BG3 and it was very well explained without a lecture or using any modern term - especially in one case, it was really moving.
I think, DAV is generally heavy with the lecturing parts and that is very immersion breaking imo. Let people find out stuff by themselves. Let Tassh maybe correct one person using a wrong pronoun and boom - non binary character established without a fuss. Thedas is very narrowminded in a lot of stuff, but being bigots doesn't seem to be one of them (Dorians father even had no problem with his son being gay, he just wanted an heir)

It legitimately angers me to look at the Witcher series and see what could have been. Bioware is no longer big enough to have separate teams. They are the same team. Which makes me somewhat dubious of Gamble's statement, I no longer have any belief in Bioware's ability to write a story like the original ME trilogy.

Same whisps of gray, lines on her face, older but not old. Quick googling and found this image, this is how I feel like she should've been. But with more cleavage and definitely those boots.

DAO Isabela was way more attractive than DAV and was wearing a normal leather armor. And I'm not talking about physical attractiveness alone. The same is true of Isabella in the comic series by David Gaider. I am very much of the "don't do cameos" squad now. They invariably turn out disappointing. Yeah, the cover of one of the comics has been posted here, that is unequivocally Isabela. The same doesn't hold true for the DAV iteration of the character. I agree, I'd rather have zero cameos than they being portrayed in a lesser way. That's why I'd prefer an MEA kind of game that at least doesn't mess with the OG characters (because it has a 100% new cast) instead of not doing justice to said original characters.

I keep saying it because I'm extremely surprised at how big the difference is, but I can't believe how much more character the Mass Effect cast have. Since when did Bioware write boring? :S

So it's finally over for me. This bizarre game is finished and it was funny to see Dragon Age go down in flames. Still after 5 days of horror, this moment here was my favorite in the game, and for my personal satisfaction I did my best to imagine that it was Hawke here, not Smiley Rook.
Endgame spoilers.

Since when did Bioware write boring? :S Since 2017. Tried the "this was made by the inexperienced C team" hopium. Anthem took that away from me. And DAV has such badly written companions I'm just laughing at the absurdity. Neve is the only companion of the 4 I have so far who talks like a normal adult and I'm somewhat interested in what she has to say. This is MEA all over again where Drack and Vetra were the only bearable adults in the room. Sad times when the companions are the worst thing about the game. And the irony of how they hyped them up is funny. I still have some hope for the storyline going somewhere halfway interesting at the end if reviews are to be believed in that respect.

Should I ever decide to play that game, which I won't because of my spoilery rant yesterday in this thread, I will never join the Lords of Fortune to minimize contact with DAV Isabela. I'm not sure, what is a spoiler or not, so I put it in spoiler tags. I think everyone saw the picture of Isabela, so it should be clear, she is in the game.

If they get the fuck out of her way, slap any fool screeching about muh pronouns, there’s a chance. I do not want to see modern day Shepard. And they’re our best hope atm.

So it's finally over for me. This bizarre game is finished and it was funny to see Dragon Age go down in flames. Damn, how fast are you all?? I haven't even finished the first act, need to recruit Davrin next. Despite my disgust with the writing I'm doing all side quests to give this game a fair shot at surprising me in a good way. I will say that if you approach DAV as a generic mindless hack and slay action game with butter smooth performance and great AAA visuals but forgettable awful dialogue it's OK. It's an absolute disgrace as a Dragon Ages game and a sad RPG experience on top of it. But I guess by today's standards one could give this a 6 or 7 just for running very well and being super polished. If I was a kid again who hasn't played any actually excellently written RPGs yet, I guess I'd say it's a good game. And a lot of people really do NOT play games for the dialogue. Many people actually skip it. But that's not why anybody has been playing BioWare games so WTF is this abomination? I honestly don't know how to rate it "objectively". It works, on a technical level there is nothing wrong with it. Haven't had such a smooth experience in a long while, especially out of the box without patches. There seems to be enough content to get your money's worth of stupid fun if your expectations are low. It's not the worst game ever made if you ignore the franchise legacy. But as a direct sequel to DAI 1/5 is even too generous for me. I rated MEA as a 2/10 Mass Effect game and a 6/10 as its own thing. DAV is worse in every respect so far but I do enjoy the setting more than MEA, so I could end up actually having more fun with it. I honestly without hyperbole think it's the worst written game I have ever played with the most boring mundane childish companion dialogue that makes the Starfield companions look good. So I probably won't rate it on the BSN poll because too bizarre to rate, lol.

It’s a good thing they waited ten years to ditch their loyal fans for the modern audience. This is hard to accept. I guess it’s just the power of one. The power of many.

That title felt like a genuine effort from people who cared about the series and took a chance. Especially considering it was people with limited experience making it. Veilguard is a skinwalker with callous disregard and hatred for its loyal fans.

I'm really not enjoying the companions quests..like 3/4 of those you got someone going "mouhahhahah" and it looks and feels goofy. Some main story moments are cool. But nothing is grounded and it's like being in a Scooby Doo episode of DA. I really don't care about companions, I don't think there's one I got really attached to at that point and that's really bizarre.

Results of first dramatic choice but not end of Act 1
The Antaam attack their own compound and Treviso as a whole, I help, and somehow we didn't drive them out? They're just occupying the place like nothing happened!! So the choice is really between who will be pissy the rest of the game and not anything about the world state 😮💨
