I think the character creator is good compared to other Bioware ganes. That triangle slider to slide between muscle mass and whatever, that's a nice addition, I played another game like it and thought it was a nice way to do things. Was it GW2? Sliders are always welcome. It's nice. Not the second coming but a nice addition and a good step forward. GW2 doesn't have that feature, but ESO and Starfield do have that feature.

Man, after seeing some more combat from all these new videos I'm pretty much sold on Rogue now! It looks like so much fun and some of those bow abilities and attacks look awesome!

*learns every fear I had about Inquisitor being in Veilguard turned out to be justified* Hanako, it's not that I don't sympathize. For example, I wish Bayek (from Assassins Creed: Origins) was able to get his own sequel (maybe even trilogy). But just as I understood with that series, and Dragon Age, there was always going to be a new protagonist. I'm just not getting how this caught you off guard this much. Especially since this has been the case for three titles now.

Thank you for at least being sympathetic, unlike smilesja and colfoleyIt’s not the fact that we aren’t playing Inquisitor, it’s the fact we have no control over them at all. So they’re going to be bastardized just like Hawke was, which is what is distressing me. I’m sure it’s going to be a good game, I just…lost all excitement for it.

Hanako, it's fine that you're disappointed, but if you're going to try to start something, take it to the skepticism thread and vent.

I don't understand that decision, you would have thought they had learned their lesson from Hawke in DAI- seemed like the response was pretty close to unanimously negative. Weird decision. Still, there's so much that looks awesome about DAV that I hope you regain your excitement!

Kind of what's always bothered me about this argument and line of logic. They are 'your Inqusitor/ Hawk'. But...ten years have passed so they are going to be a very different person from who they were. At least I've done a lot of changing in ten years so I know how possible it is to do so. Same goes for Hawk though the timeline is shorter.

People get attached to the PC in an RPG, its sort of the point. I like and agree with a lot of BW's design philosophy, but this thing with bringing back Hawke/Inquisitor is just a bit bizarre. But the silver lining: at least imo, DA are 3-for-3 in terms of having a quality PC. So I'm hoping Rook will be another case of a high quality PC that people can get really attached to. --- Speaking of hype, I can't decide which I'm more excited about: the combat and gameplay (which looks fucking incrediballs) or the story and lore, since it seems like we're really getting deep into the stuff that I find most interesting- the backstory of the Blights, the Old Gods, the Evanuris, etc etc. This wait is going to be really painful.

Same! Gameplay and lore! I haven't been this hyped in...well...since Trespasser was announced! Though, I feel like so many questions that have been compiling since DA:O will be finally answered - makes me question what possibly could be next? What else will be dropped for a possible 5th game or is this designed to be the end ? Too early to think about that, I suppose.

A quick note following some issues in the Skepticism thread last night and to discourage skeptics coming here to wind up the hyped and hyped people going over there to wind up the skeptics. This is the Hype Train Thread, where excitement about Dragon Age The Veilguard may be freely shared without too many grumbles and complaints being made about them. "Just to be clear, not every post has to be 'full on fan-boy/girl', but I'd ask posters to keep generally in the territory of positivity. We're not looking to get into fights with skeptics in this thread, mostly ignore them if they swing by, or direct them to their own thread: The Dragon Age The Veilguard Skepticism Thread - bsn.boards.net/thread/edit/18444" And obviously all BSN's rules about not straying into non-game-related politics and slurs/unpleasantness against groups of people still apply. So whilst more skeptical posters may pop in for occasional light relief, if they get too focused upon complaining, then they may be asked to 'get back to the skeptics thread' Thanks. Enjoy your excitement.

I think the Mourn Watch symbol is the Death Watch beetle (https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_Crate_of_Live_Death_Watch_Beetles), which is actually a real life beetle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathwatch_beetle). The best part of the old DA2 codex is the first paragraph: The loud tapping sound of the Death Watch Beetle is widely believed to foretell a death in the household. In Nevarra, the beetle is prized; households sometimes keep one in a small cage for good luck. However, the Rivaini consider them to be an extremely ill omen, and kill the beetles on sight.Nevarra is going to be the most amazing place. Instead of having one expy family of the Addams family, we got a whole country! I can't wait to make my crypt-born goth Dwarven Warrior Mourn Watcher.

I'm about half way through DAI, just completed DAO and DA2, but I'm running out of steam. Not sure whether to keep going or just read through the wiki before Veilguard. It's been a lot of fun replaying, but I forgot how big DAI was compared to 2!
