It seems they are doing a bunch of new mocap, so maybe... just maybe...we can have a female character that doesn't walk around like she has a bowling ball between her legs in cutscenes.

I mean, I probably would sit like that on a throne and there are moments with under garments that may make me do a weird little walk to loose them, but every moment? nah, that's gotta be fixed. I thought they said 60% of the Bioware gamers were women, we need the Lady to be the default walk

Me: I shouldn't get too excited as there is no gameplay or any significant info regarding plot, characters, etc. Also me: bellydancer she-elf, bellydancer she-elf!!! She's probably just a generic background character for concept art purposes I know, I'm heartbroken as well. Wapapapap, let me just stop you right there. Tali (that's my nickname for her, she seems like a Tali to me) is definitely a mage team member! She's the 'pro'-slavery companion. ('Pro' like how Viv was the pro-circle as in it is what it is, but the individual experience is different for everyone in that flawed system.) Tali is the prized possession of Lady Patronelius. She is a top tier entertainer (nothing dirty!). Think Fenris but for art and without the golem vibes. She's on good terms with her master, she even taught her combat magic (unnecessary? lore blurb to explain why she can fight). Her superior dancing skills can be translated into her combat animations (+ other/unique mage weapon options that would fit her gracefulness like fans, dagger or a scepter?) Since she is a tevinter girl she wouldn't be swayed by Fenny's elfy propaganda. Like "bish, can your freed elves do something like this: *mesmerizing performance of magic and dance*". In all seriousness (although... I was serious with this love-'rant' ) I accept that this lineup wasn't the final team. The only one that is sort of confirmed is The Iron Cow (yep, the canary big girl!). I don't know if concept art Tali (or my specific Tali) can make it into the game but at the end of the day is just want a she-elf LI. It doesnt matter if she's a companion or just an ~advisor, I need her. Elf girls are best girls!

I titled it: David vs Qunliath. The huge dude's armor has Qunari motif (aka red ropes), so most probably a Qunari. Also, the "one second please" person totally destroy an army before Qunliath showed up...

Now, did the guy with the sword kill these others, or is he just the last man standing...?

My take on it was the "one second please" person is the only one left, after the big guy destroyed the others …
In part because the others don't appear to be Qunari …
And "David" is catching his breath after seeing his companions wiped out, thinking … "oh man, this is gonna hurt."
But I like yours better.

Male Quizzies also suffered from that, so I'd be nice if it got fixed in both cases. Granted, if you romanced Bull, it could be justified... I titled it: David vs Qunliath. The huge dude's armor has Qunari motif (aka red ropes), so most probably a Qunari. Also, the "one second please" person totally destroy an army before Qunliath showed up... The latter was my first impression. I also felt like it was the case of the last man standing.

I'm so excited. Even if it is mostly just concept art we've seen and so much could change, this feels like way more to chew on than past 'teasers' for da4. I know the final product could drastically change but I'm sooo happy with what I've seen so far. Tevinter looks gorgeous and I'm so happy most of the concept art seems to focus on cities. Maybe I'm just biased since I adored DA2 but I'm so much more excited by the thought of exploring cities than the wilderness.

The dead bodies are behind David in two distinct piles to clean up the entrance to deal with whatever is coming through. Qunliath might be a Tal-Vashoth working for a multi-racial merc group for all we know... The scene looks a lot like one of Varric's stories too. I'm not sure how I feel about some of the concept arts mood being very "comic book funny"...even more than DA2 was.

Yeah this is something that smacks of BioWare's usual habbit of over correction which has sometimes had mixed results 'don't like all the wilderness in Inquisition...well here is Cities noting but...CITIES.' So this is a (fairly minor) concern of mine weirdly enough. But on the other hand if they can manage to pull it off and make these places we can visit that will make me a happy camper. I always prefer human intrigue and politics to exploration in the wilderness. On the other hand who knows if these even will be places we will visit.

So. The announcement sent me on a bit of a nostalgia spiral. I have not played DA:O or DA2 since at least 2013. I have not played DA:I since, I believe, early 2015. I'm thinking I might do a trilogy marathon sometime soon. Go through the content I never played before, like Witch Hunt, the sequels' DLC, and The Last Court. My relationship with the series is complicated, since while I loved DA:O (easily in the top three most influential games I ever played), I thought DA2 was just okay and found DA:I thoroughly disappointing. But who knows how I'll feel over half a decade later, and I hear the expansions are better than vanilla. Might be worth a try when it goes on sale. Wasn't planning on getting any RPGs until BG3's full release anyway. yeah I haven't played DA:O or DA2 in a few years, and its been a while since I've completed a full DAI playthrough as well, but after seeing that teaser vid I may have to load up a full trilogy playthrough.. I am 100% on-board the hype train, that concept art looked freakin' amazing... "excited" doesn't even begin to describe it

I don't care if everything turns out exactly like the concept art, it's just reassuring to see actual proof of what they're working on, and get a sense of where they want to go.

Also, the "one second please" person totally destroy an army before Qunliath showed up... Now, did the guy with the sword kill these others, or is he just the last man standing...? You could interpret it either way but I've a feeling that "David" is going to cream the big guy regardless. Also, I got the idea from someone else's video analysis that this could be Master "Death is My Calling" Lucanis from Tevinter Nights: dark clothing, hood with possible peak, twin daggers but also a sabre type weapon (he is said to be cleaning his sword in the book), more in keeping with a rogue, and the sort of attitude to dicing with death that this guy seems to be demonstrating. "One moment please whilst I catch my breath." Even if it isn't him, I like "David's" style regardless and really want him on my team.

There's that scene with Solas lighting that torch when disclosing that Corypheus' ball is elven, he uses a female walking animation. midnight tea had posted two .gifs to compare this animation when used for Solas and Cassandra.

Oooo see I thought he was just being especially graceful and dramatic for effect. One doesn't exclude another In fact it was kinda that point - they have simply used the tools (and animations) they've had at their disposal at the time. Here's the post in question. (...) I don't think many people noticed that they occasionally give female gait to Solas in some cinematics I'm not joking - did anyone else here notice this too? This, for example: Is the same as this, save the hand gesture: Or in Trespasser. Yyyyup. This isn't mocapped, it's in-game female gait, just with arms crossed behind. Just a funny observation, if we're getting this far into detail. They intentionally give it to him when they want to give us a peek at his ancient ellfiness/Fen'Harelness. His walk is straighter and more graceful, but he simply doesn't have hips and thighs to visually underline the gait or feet making close steps with. It's a thing that should probably be mentioned a little more often given the context of discussion: that the body models they give us will also have an effect on the gait it was paired with, which is one of reasons why male gait on female looks so funny when put on models they haven't been designed for (I think the biggest issue here is that the male-model based animations is just incompatible proportion-wise with smaller frames of some models, hence diaper walk in women or poor broken arms of shorter and lankier elf males), or why the sway may seem too pronounced on females for some others, given the standard pretty hourglass shape, especially of human model. Different proportions will simply have a different visual effect, entirely aside from internal anatomy or something. It's also true that DAI fashion tends to skew towards skin-tight, and this has a visual effect too.

Soo... hype thread! Anyone got any loose ideas for what kind of character(s) they'd like to play going into DA4? Assuming we have all races and a variety of specializations, what are you thinking/hoping for? Got any thoughts about how they look, what kind of VA you'd like to have? Wanna break out the ol' Alignment Chart?

Soo... hype thread! Anyone got any loose ideas for what kind of character(s) they'd like to play going into DA4? Going by my previous experience with all 3 DA games: I'm going to spend about ~50 hours in character creation/tutorial section trying classes and characters before settling on something. Totally pointless for me to plan for something.

I want to swing across a rope dangling from a flying elven craft, scoop up the Archon's handsome son on the way, vault onto the parapet of a nearby castle and kick a Qunari guard over the edge while I land. Basically I want to be gay Errol Flynn.

My canon Inquisitor is a male Qunari warrior (two handed). So I guess my canon DA4 protagonist is going to be a male dwarf rogue. I really enjoyed the ranged battle gameplay in DA:I so I’ll probably go with an archer. What’s that you say? I skipped a race? Nope, don’t think so. Oh, and they’re all gay. Naturally.
