KOTOR Knights of the Old Republic (2003)

I would've preferred to continue leveling in non-jedi classes. If I could've done that it would've been less time consuming to maximize exp from tech skills.

I use the restored content mod, but yes, the characters were definately better. Lucasarts fucked the ending of that game so bad.

Mira, Visas, Handmaiden, Goto, Mandalore etc even Atton was overall better executed than Carth was, and Kreia even today holds up as one of the BEST written and voice acted video game characters of all time.

Indeed. I had started playing KOTOR shortly after the prequel films came out. I don't wish to start a debate about the movies, so let it suffice to say that I was less than fully engaged in the prequels, and in fact, less than fully engaged by the ending of Jedi. To be fair, I was old enough to have seen the original releases of Star Wars (before it was called A New Hope, back when Han shot first...), and Empire, and those two films so revolutionized the movies, and raised the bar so high, that any subsequent films were likely to leave me feeling just a little unfulfilled.

I reluctantly began playing KOTOR, and was immediately enthralled... I actually remember saying, "Oh, my, I had forgotten how much FUN Star Wars is supposed to be." I still play KOTOR and TSL (with restored content) and love them. It's fair to say these games rank among the best stories in the SW universe.

TFW I was right at the ending of KOTOR 1 before I swapped computers, and I had already wiped the old one before I realized that meant my save was gone.

Ironically the computer I swapped it out for died within a few months and I had to go back to the old one.

Why is life so cruel?

Well it's a classic BioWare game.  Before EA bought them out.  DA:O was the last vestige of what once was.

Agreed.  Not to mention the rise and fall of Revan.

Well Canderous says in KOTOR I, that the Sith came to them with an offer.  So I assume these Sith are from the True Sith Empire.  I don't remember the specifics, it was during one of Canderous's conversations early on.  I assume the Sith wanted the Mandalorions to destabilize the galaxy, so it would be ripe for Sith invasion.
