kotor and DA:O are the best RPG's ive ever played. not even ashamed to admit it. Completely agree. Kotor was my favorite RPG until I played DAO and now DAO has held that title ever since. Oh I don't know. I still play and enjoy both. They are two classic games made by BioWare before EA'a bought them. So for me it's hard to decide. They are both masterpieces in my opinion.

You know if it wasn’t for kotor I don’t think I would be a Star Wars fan. Cause I find the movie meh. But kotor is God’s gift The first KOTOR is what got me into Star Wars. Most SW fans start when their kids. I became a fan when I was 23 in 2003 when KOTOR came out. I remember in Gamestop they would play a trailer and fell in love with the music. I don't know why but when I first saw Bastila wielding a double lightsaber I wanted the game. It was the first BioWare game I ever played. Back then I was strictly console. When I found out I could speak to my companions and make LS or DS choices I was hooked. Eventually I played other SW games and saw all the movies and read some of the books. Although KOTOR II is my favorite one. The original will always hold a special place in my heart.

Just reinstalled KOTOR and will eventually get KOTOR2 going. (Both are re-purchases on Steam because I no longer have a disc drive.) Can't wait to get into it but I'm smack in the middle of an ME trilogy run.

My all time favorite game will always be Shadows of Amn, but KOTOR is a close second. Being old enough to have seen the original Star Wars trilogy in theaters on its first release, I had a bad taste in my mouth after the prequel trilogy, and even after the rather anticlimactic ending of Jedi.
KOTOR really opened my eyes and took me back to 1977, reminding me just how much FUN Star Wars could be if done right. On my first play through I did every quest and every planet twice. Not because I'm a gaming fanatic, but because I was having so much fun that I didn't want to miss anything.

Still love KOTOR 1 and 2 and SWTOR (despite the fact, that they made Revan a white male with a god complex as canon, my Revan will always be a woman of color with a kind heart). I love the Star Wars games much more, than the movies, they are just more fun for me.

The best way I've seen KOTOR descibed is: "An interactive Star Wars movie"
I agree, and it's the most succinct way of putting it in my opinion.
I absolutely NEVER saw the twist coming, and looking back at all the dialogue it is simply superb.

I love the Star Wars games much more, than the movies, they are just more fun for me. I'm the same way with the Exile. The Exile will always be either a lightside or darkside male depending on my mood. I never had a set gender for Revan to me it could be either. Though I do find the idea of a female Revan to be sexy.

I absolutely NEVER saw the twist coming, and looking back at all the dialogue it is simply superb. Yeah, I recently stated replaying after so many years, and it's amazing how many hints there were as to what happened to Revan after Malak betrayed him. Like in the beginning Carth says something like "I heard some grim stories about the dangers of the force." "They say it can wipe your entire memory and make you forget who you are." Also when Vrook says."Are you sure Revan is truly gone?" "What if we were to train this one and the Dark Lord returns?" and then Vandar tells him basically to change the subject.

For those who are interested - update on the Apeiron mod for KOTOR.
KOTOR was the game that introduced me to Bioware and played it to death before I eventually moved on to other games. I had the game on CD, so when I saw how far this mod had come (about a year ago now) I bought it again on GOG, because this looks fantastic.

Was looking to buy a new game the other day on xbox but while browsing i noticed this on BC so bought 1 & 2 First PT i went Soldier/Guardian an i think if i went anything else i'd a not completed it i've grown to used to modern games an outside the story i'd forgot nigh everything about this so it was ultimately a lesson in frustration initially playing it, especially when it seems autosave is bugged an i lost items to it. Never did a 100% pt as i decided just to use the char to familiarize myself with the game, so i had zero persuade an missed alot of exttra dialogue intentionally I thought i'd need high persuade to bring Bastila back, i had zero an did it no problem even though i failed a persuade check, can't remember if thats correct or bugged Anyhow started a scout an probably going to make him a sentinel an go full LS Gotto admit spending just under £20 to replay these 2 the best buy i did recently an i look forward to diving into 2 when done with 1, be interesting as i dont have access to restoration mod for that an if i remember right it makes a difference, so see when i play though tbh i cant remember much so hopefully i don't get hungover wanting it

I want to look forward to this Apeiron remake, but I dare not get excited about it. I've followed far too many promising mods and fan remakes in my life that begin their life with a great sense of purpose and enthusiasm - only to see them fizzle out and die midway through development, never to be completed. Seen it happen so many times. The screenshots and reveals look amazing, but I won't hold my breath.
On a related note, the Star Wars community on Reddit etc. can be toxic and negative beyond belief. Yesterday I was looking at some of the latest environment screenshots from Apeiron, and the hostile responses they got from rude, bratty fans was unbelievable. The screenshots 'sucked', they were 'amateurish' and 'like something made in a kindergarten class' by 'clueless people' blah blah blah... There was one particular remark read: "So Daddy's taught you how to use the unreal engine, and you learned how to put a few blocks down? Do yourself a favour and just quit before you all embarrass yourselves further".
Personally I think they look incredible, and more to the point, this is a completely free game, made by dedicated people in their own time, without payment. Talk about entitled!

Yeah, I saw a video showing Taris a when they first started working on the remake, and it looked great. As for the members of Reddit. That is the sad truth about the internet. There are many immature people online who think their are critics who know what their talking about. I never attempted to make a game, but I have worked on several modding projects, and know how much dedication it takes.

Personally I think they look incredible, and more to the point, this is a completely free game, made by dedicated people in their own time, without payment. Talk about entitled! Yeah - the "trust, but verify" mantra should apply to these things, always. I am definitely keeping a firm lid on 'muh hype'. That said, I very much hope it sees the light of day and gets given a chance to work out any kinks/bugs that may be present on release. While far less ambitious in scale and scope, the Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines unofficial patch team are an example of what dedication and hard work can achieve in these sorts of things. Reddit will never cease to amaze at how some places are the most welcoming and friendly on-line places you could ever hope to stumble upon and others are....well....just the worst. It really does seem at times as if it lives up to it's tagline "the front page of the internet"...

In think that there's a lot of Star wars fans in general who have become horrible entitled and insufferable, and the same could also apply for a few gamers out there. I've met lots and lots of fantastic, open minded fans over the years but also have encountered some who seem to have fallen to the dark side. The disgusting attacks upon Kelly Marie Tran from these types of people is a case to point.
But I digress.
I'm replaying KotOR right now, and I have to say that for all that I adore this game I've realised that there's one section in particular that seems to be quite shockingly punishing to new or inexperienced players. I'm not sure whether or not this is a good thing.
You may recall the final confrontation with Davik and Calo Nord. Players familiar with the game will know that the easiest way to beat this encounter is simply to have all three party members spam grenades at Calo, which effectively trivialises the encounter. But new players are far likely to attempt to attack both Davik and Calo in a more conventional manner, and almost certainly get their asses well and truly handed to them. They'll likely repeat this encounter several times (as I did on my first playthrough) getting increasingly frustrated with each party wipe, and increasingly fed up with watching the unskippable cut scene.
..... Eventually they'll win, either through blind luck, or from figuring out the 'method'; race to the Ebon Hawke..... only to be immediately confronted with a bunch more unskippable cut scenes... followed by the dreaded turret battle with no chance to save before starting it.
The turret battle requires an entirely different set of gaming skills that new players would not have had a chance to develop, relying mostly upon coordination, speed and reflexes. They'll likely be far too 'panicked' to notice the radar, and just end up firing blindly into space in the hope of taking down these fast, darting, swooping hard-to-spot fighters. Eventually they'll fail. God help them if they failed to save the game after defeating Calo and Davik! (which is quite easy because the falling debris, naturally lends a sense of urgency, and desire to enter the Hawke ASAP and saving in such a 'hazardous' area might seem like a bad idea) They'll have to do the whole lot all over again. Even if they saved, they'll still have to watch those cut scenes once again.
Imagine if modern titles used similar mechanics? Such consummate lack of hand-holding?
It's instructive though, and it helps develop a range of skill sets you're going to need later in the game, which is why I'm not entirely sure it's a bad thing.
Just rambling here.

Earlier this year, I bought KOTOR (again, I had it on disc years ago but no disc drive any longer) on Steam. Couldn't get it or KOTOR2 to start. Got a refund on them. Earlier today, someone said he had lots of luck purchasing old games through Gog. I checked it out. Said it was compatible with Windows 10. Success! I can't get it to go full screen just yet but the important part is that I'm playing. Right now it's just me and Carth but so happy to be playing.

Couldn't get games to work on Windows 10 with Steam. So I bought it on GoG. Works flawlessly. My only complaint no widescreen for modern PC's. The steam version of K2 came with anew patch that offered widescreen. But alas the Steam version does not work for me. Anywho I enjoy the GoG versions.

Never found a perfect one that was stable all the time.

I have seen the Apeiron's model of Bastila Shan... christ I got the same goosebumps that I had when I played the game for the first time back in the day.
KOTOR is the only reason i'm a Star Wars fan, to be honest.

I have seen the Apeiron's model of Bastila Shan... christ I got the same goosebumps that I had when I played the game for the first time back in the day. KOTOR is the only reason i'm a Star Wars fan, to be honest. KOTOR is the only thing that got me into Star Wars. I knew the plot of the movies but never seen them until I played KOTOR. To this day the Old Republic is my favorite era.

Apeiron is still alive... A picture showing some of the GUI was shown... Though I'm not sure whether that was just a pic or a screenshot taken out of whatever is done of the game.
Fingers crossed, right.

Rogue Assassin droid with overly sensitive audio input?
I'd get up close and scream as loud as I possibly could, Revan...
(Also, Revan's future wife is a beast on the battlefield)

Well, this took me a while.
A year, nine months and one scrapped playthrough.
And for the record, it was totally worth it.

Well, this took me a while. A year, nine months and one scrapped playthrough. And for the record, it was totally worth it. Congrats! I wish I could erase all knowledge of the game and replay as if the first time. When you're up for it you should try the sequel with the TSLRCM patch. It takes place 5 years after the original and you are the last of the Jedi. Then after that if you still hunger for more play SWTOR. It's an MMO but you can play it as single player. I hate MMO's and only played SWTOR, at first I was like "do I really need others help?" The answer was no, I can play by myself. I just look at the other subscribers as smart npc's. SWTOR takes place 300 years after the first two KOTOR games.
