Finished Russian Doll on Netflix last night.
Really enjoyed it. Natasha Lyonne (I honestly thought she'd died, don't know why) is a chain smoking, hard living video game developer that dies, and starts re-living her day. She then spends 8 episodes - with some help - trying to work out what is happening, why it is happening and how to stop it, all while avoiding the stairs by taking the safer fire escape route.
Episodes are short, so you could easily burn through the season in one night, although we spread it over two.

Battlestar Galactica Redux is on Amazon Prime and oddly, the pilot isn't available. Do you mean the 2 part mini-series that showed the Cylons nuking Earth? Because that is available-- or at least it was back when I was watching BSG oon Prime in March of last year.

Watched The Suicide Squad last night. The reviews had my expectations sky high, so naturally I was a little disappointed. I still liked it, but I think I had a more ‘laugh out loud’ experience in my head. My wife loved it, though. Ratcatcher 2 is OP, plz nerf. Also, “You couldn’t afford Ratcatcher 1?” ————————————— Then watched Bliss on Amazon Prime after the rugby. Whoever cut that trailer needs some kind of award hewn from the bedrock of Bullshit Mountain. I was expecting an acid trip where I could believe Owen Wilson could score Salma Hayek. I got a confusing snorefest where I did not believe Owen Wilson was real. Someone Blue Pill me.

I've been looking at BLISS, have it on my list. So, I take it by your comment that it's not worth watching....?
Tonight, I just finished watching SALT with Angelina Jolie, aka "poofy lip lady", but, damn I almost forgot how pretty she actually was when she was younger. Truth be told though...while I enjoyed SALT....I found many similarities to "No Way Out" with Kevin Costner, which I thought was the better movie.

It didn’t work for me, but at least some critics liked it, so it must have some redeeming qualities that just went over my head.

It didn’t work for me, but at least some critics liked it, so it must have some redeeming qualities that just went over my head. I watched it and I'm still on the fence. It had a few great moments but the overall story felt lacklustre. There's a lot of chaff to comb through.
I loved the phone call between Bloodsport and his daughter in prison. Well acted and felt weirdly genuine. Them both resorting to "fuck yoooouuuu" seemed honest, bit of dysfunctional reality.
I liked Capaldi as Thinker, felt a teeny bit underutilized but good nonetheless. When Ratcatcher 2 threatens him, "do you want a dozen angry rodents crawling up your ass!" and he quips back, "phuh, my answer might not be what you expect" got a laugh. His delivery was perfect.
I did get a kick out of Polka-dot Man. The first shot when you see everyone as his mother didn't get a laugh so much as an, "oh." But it was a good, "oh." It illustrated his perspective so well, instant understanding.
***
Comparably, a lot of what Harley was doing felt... tacked on. Kind of useless and only marginally funny.
The Stardo overarching story didn't grip me. It was in service to so many other plots it didn't hold its own.
Waller vs her Staff could've been better. Characters with that small a window to establish themselves need a bit more. The "hot blonde" in there had nothing. Her lines were drab, she was one-dimensional. The tech guy had promise but similarly fell flat. That said, I did like the concept of her staff standing up to her.

Watching the trailer for the upcoming Netflix Witcher animation; story of Vesemir. Looks interesting. It says anime but it's clearly not which I'm grateful for because if it were, every character would resemble one another with the generic big pixie eyes, spiky hair, pointy chins, etc, etc, etc with some cute bouncy sidekick or animal flouncing about.

Episode 1 of Invincible on Amazon Prime.
Was getting strong Utopian/Jupiters Legacy vibes from the Dad/Omni-Man at the start.
Er...less so, at the end. Animation is a little haphazard but strong voice cast and interesting enough little premise to keep watching a bit longer.
Also watched the first 2 episodes of Season 3 of The Girlfriend Experience. The first season was really good. The second was...OK. This, so far, is just boring. Will probably watch one more episode before giving up on it. A show can build slowly to something without being dull. At the moment, this one isn't managing that.

Hospital Playlist S2 ep 8. Four more eps to go and everyone seems to be linking up, hope Jun Wan and Ik Sun clear up the misunderstanding and problems between them. Here's hoping for a nice ending to this series. The eps so far are great. Great insights into; medical cases, how junior doctors deal with tragic cases, how the patients deal with their diagnosis and the inside medical jokes. Edit. Watched the first ep of yet another drama on Ying Zheng, the Qin Emperor. The subtitles are sometimes wrong. I when a general angrily told the troops that moved to shield him to move aside but the subtitle put it as DODGE! Another was when the commander ordered his troops to attack, the subtitle put it as RUSH! which of course they didn't do.

Watching Chinese drama, The Imperial Coronor. Takes place during the Tang Dynasty where peace reigned and infrastructures were flourishing after Xuan Zong established his realm.
As the title suggests, it's a CSI like drama. It's pretty good, the script is logical and solid.

So a while back I started watching TERRA NOVA on Mouse Minus; I'd heard of it but never really knew what it was. I started watching it and was interested in the beginning, this 22nd Century dystopian version of Earth and this one family's life....Then they get word of this fresh start, this one-way trip to another world....(colour me intrigued). So I just picked it up again after a few weeks of not watching it. I'm half way through the first half of the 2-Part Pilot.....When I realize that it totally Jurassic Park set 85 million years into the past (from the year 2149)....This got me confused and so I watched the Trailer on IMDB. I was totally right! It's nothing but a "Days of Future Past meets Jurassic Park" complete with Dinosaurs. Once I discovered that, I turned it off.
I'm not interested in seeing another version of Jurassic Park. Going to try and find something else to watch on Mouse Minus.
Maybe I should try The Bad Batch.....?

Imperial Coroner, historical mystery drama.
So far so good; mysteries, cases. Bad; lame instances which are getting old. What's the lame instance? It's an excuse the writers wrote in to have physical interaction between the female lead and the male lead.
The male would ask; what is the oddity you have noticed? Female lead; It's difficult to put it in words, can I demonstrate on you?
The first pass is reasonable as she was attempting to show how the murderer killed the victim. The second is frankly dumb since it's CPR. The character is presented as young and innocent but skilled as a coroner. However, she is also clearly literate and has no problems with communication, hence I expect her to be able to explain the process so such interactions are just silly fluff.

I've been a fan of The HIGHLANDER since I was probably 10 and over the years I've seen I, II, IV: End Game (and the TV series with Adrian Paul as Connor Macleod's ancestor, which I enjoyed). I first saw Highlander II in 1994 and as much as I reall yliked the first one, I was confused and disappointed in the second. It was just weird, and dark. In a word: Bad. So I didn't watch the rest of them until End Game came out after the TV series......Now some 25+ years later I decided to watch Highlander II on AP tonight to see if I remembered it...being as bad as it was when I first saw it.
In short, it was exactly as bad (maybe worse with time) as I remembered it being and it was 1h40mins of my life I'll never get back. I like Christopher Lambert, but they really should have stopped after the first movie.

Also, oh man, do not watch Highlander: The Source. It's with Duncan, taking place long after the events of Endgame and, oof, it's bad.
There's a reboot in the works with Henry Cavill attached to it. I'm not feeling too confident, but I like Henry.

I haven't seen Highlander III with Mario Van Peebles.......I've seen One (the best One), II and Endgame. I liked Endgame, I thought it was interesting how they merged the two characters and had Connor meet Duncan......What I didn't like is how they made Duncan kill Connor. Honestly, they really should have left The Highlander alone. That was wrapped up nicely just as it was. He was the only immortal left, he fought his arch enemy who (presumably killed his Teacher), he gained the Prize and was able to become mortal and have a (2nd) wife. Done. But then the beginning of TWO, it goes back to how and where Connor actually meets and knows Ramirez from....back before the events of Numner One, and how they were then 'transported' to Scotland (and Spain respectively). It also gives light to why Connor didn't seem to remember Ramirez because for some reason in the 'transportation'.....He lost his memory. So he had to re-learn what and who he was. Fine. That's totally fine....I actually liked that part of II. It was all the rest of it that I couldn't stand. It would have been more fulfilling if they had added that early stuff into the original as backstory. Because as the Original starts....All you know is that Connor dies on the battlefield then lives again and doesn't know who or what or why. But that little bit in 2 where they stand before the Court and receive a sentence (of battling others like themselves to the death) that actually even explains why they did what they did. It also gives a starting point to the relationship between Connor and Ramirez rather than just some Scottish guy from Spain.....litterally appearing out of nowhere in the highlands of Scottland and seeming to know stuff about Connor that even Connor doesn't know about himself, nor why if this stranger knows him....how come he doesn't know the stranger? (Is he missing something?) But even though 2 filled in an interesting gap in one..........the over all movie of 1 is still the best of all of them and I think it should've been left at that.

You reminded me the scene in Highlander 2, where Ramirez shows up on stage, during a play of Hamlet. That was another fun scene. But yeah, Connery playing Ramirez like a Scott from Spain is ... really not helpful with immersion and suspension of disbelief. He's just Sean Connery. There's also an anime Highlander OVA, with yet another MacLeod, which I've not seen yet, but I heard pretty bad things about and a French or French Canadian Highlander cartoon with a different MacLeod again and Ramirez. The franchise is a mess. I did like the third movie, though. It's probably the best after the first one, but it's still a mile away.

I can't find the third one anywhere these days.....Not physical copy to buy, but just to stream. The Raven series is on Prime...and following the series with Duncan, it's not bad. But as far as the movies of the franchise go, I can't find the third one. All I remember is the VHS box cover from really old movie stores in my neighbourhood. I remember Mario Van Peebles on the cover, but that's about it. I never did see the third one because the second one was so horrible. I got into the series and then when Endgame came out I watched that because I was interested to see how they would show Duncan interacting with his ancestor. I really didn't like that they had Duncan kill Connor (even though it was what Connor wanted). After that I gave up on the franchise though the odd time now, I go back to the series and to the original movie because I have always liked Christopher Lambert.
But I do agree....Connery playing Ramirez like a scott even though his character is from Spain, doesn't help. Like Harrison Ford trying to play a Russian in K-19: The Widowmaker. But all he did was be himself. He never even attempted even the slightest Russian accent.
The best way to do it, I think if we are talking about actors taking on languages other than their own to portray a character.....Is how they did it with The Hunt for Red October. The opening scene was Connery and Neil out on the top of the sub....and they both spoke fluent russian. They established their characters were Russian. Then throughout the movie they mostly spoke English, with a few Russian phrases interspersed where they fit. That was perfect character set-up as far as I'm concerned.
The opposite end is Harrison Ford (as much as I like him as an actor) in K19.
And I agree....Connery appearing int he middle of the stage during Hamlett was a good scene, a fun scene for laughs even though it was a bit far fetched and silly.

Finished Imperial Coroner.
Pretty good solid historical drama in which mysteries are unravelled and connected into one big picture at the end. I'm glad there's no annoying three and four parties written in to spice up the romances. Instead, there's simply interactions, friendships, trust and the bonds formed during the journey to seal the relationships.

Nirvana in Fire Found another Chinese historical drama, time setting is 500+ AD. From how it started, I'm going to take a guess it's either a revenge or redress wrongs story. It's never a good thing to have too many princes for they ended up vying with one another. One prince was too few. Two was asking for trouble. Three was asking for disaster. As in Imperial Coroner, costumes are good though IC has a couple of modern stuff added in; long fringes at one side of the forehead, clothing that's not authentic on a few characters. NiF looks good so far.
