Im still in the first 30 mins of thenPilot episode and after the whole "wedding in the bunker" scene and then having it *flash forward* (or something) to some sort of Assembly...I dunno. I just thought [this is too weird even for me]. I mean, The Expanse is weird...Battlestar Galactica is weird, but those are a level and type of weird that I can deal with. Fallout was on its own level of different I can see that. FO is clearly going for satire (as did the game, if I recall my FO3 playthrough a long time ago). And a lot of it is over-the-top, even wacky.
I don't think BSG intended anything like that, though it (like many shows) likes to keep you guessing. Okay, Baltar was a bit, to a lot, over-the-top many times. Great character reading, by the actor, though it got old.
The Expanse? If by "weird", you mean deliberately confusing in the 1st season (until its conclusion), sure. But I'd say it is as hard SF as anything in the popular media. I love it for that.
BSG and The Expanse are two of my favorite shows. I mostly enjoyed FO. I use a different mindset to enjoy it than the other two. But I can't say I'm that excited for the next season.

Woke up early today, between 3-4am. Saw there was a show called Dark Matter. New, not the one from the mid 2010's that got axed. Starring Jennifer Connelly (still drop-dead gorgeous*) and that guy who I recognize but will never ever remember the name of. (Joel Edgerton apparently.) Watched the first two eps. Very slow burn, pretty simple premise. Execution felt good though. Kind of show that likely has a relatively low budget but made the most of it. Like Hijack and Severance. Plot could've been condensed to one episode, the gist is pretty easy to ascertain. They go for a few cinematic shots but it's hit'n'miss. Good/great cast, good performances though. Great sets and despite some shots that try a bit too hard the cinematography is still good. As I understand it it's yet another book adaptation so we'll see how that goes. Never read the book nor am I familiar with the author at all. Just kinda dropped in my lap this morning. As an aside I got reminded of "The Rocketeer" as a result and am vaguely curious to rewatch that. Can't remember the last time I saw it. *

X-Men '97 Ep9 Jesus christ Magneto just tore the adamantium out of Wolverine. This show is all over the place but it's really not pulling the punches and I like that.

"Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" was entertaining. I don't really go in for Guy Ritchie, never been a fan of his fast cuts. I like his production value, the pacing of his story (not cinematography), and the way he finds a really great cast though. This pretty much hits him on par for that course. Cast is great.
Henry Cavill plays a gentleman berserker, albeit I think he could've used a bit more crazy. Still a bit of a departure from his Superman/Witcher roles. Alan Ritchson plays a big gay murderous Danish hulk with a wooden bow, sells it pretty well too. Him hitting on the demolitions guy was good times. I hope we see him in more openly gay roles. He seems to sell it well and I appreciate the timing of him saying "I'm openly Christian" and having an openly gay role that would've been on post-production while he was saying it going out. Good on him. Eiza Gonzalez doesn't really stretch her acting abilities as much as the above two but she knocks her musical performance out of the park. I managed to get her confused with Adria Arjona yet again though. As someone who also has a doppelganger I empathize. Babs Olusanmokun (Dr. from SNW) is in there too. He unfortunately does not flex his acting prowess much and hits most of the same notes he has in SNW and Dune. I'd like to see more from him in a big budget movie. I dunno if he can pull it off but I wanna see him try regardless. Also the guy from Princess Bride who I can never bloody remember the name of plays a general or somesuch. He doesn't do anything special but it's nice to see him pop up here and there. Entertaining, nothing special, but fun. Would recommend for a pop'n'chips watch though.
