Michael Gamble @gamblemikeThere's ONE person who is having a good day. That is the PR person who has to monitor @biomarkdarrah twitter to make sure he's not telling secrets. Wait. It's gonna be worse now? Nevermind, then.

100% pure speculation time ...
What if it was over operational issues, rather than content? Mark and Casey excelled at operations and humane treatment of Bioware workers. What if EA wanted all hands on deck, in the office, literal death march to bring in the DA4 schedule, and they said fuck that?

Yeah - that ship has pretty much sailed. Actually, sailed years ago. Doesn't mean their new ones can't/won't be good, though. Just not "old Bioware". I think there's more to "old bioware" than just "old Bioware", but the "new Bioware" isn't exactly doing stellar and hasn't been for a while now. A series of bad decisions have been made for a decade now, I would argue. And it's not to say that 2001 Bioware would have done that much better in 2020, but the things they did right, aren't being done right today. "Old Bioware" had a certain reputation. "New Bioware" has a certain reputation as well, but it's not as prestigious as that of the old one. Like I mentioned earlier management (higher than Hudson) is the biggest cause for the bail out so with that Said I'm putting EA on notice quit with the crap games that I know you want to make fast and furious for the money since MX is no longer viable. End rant I expect this to get worse. At least for DA4. Anthem Next and the ME remaster won't be. At least, I don't think the ME remaster will come with a cosmetic cash shop.

What if EA wanted all hands on deck, in the office, literal death march to bring in the DA4 schedule, and they said fuck that? Maybe? I have difficulty believing EA could swallow the shitstorm of bad if it were revealed they were compelling people to come into the office to work when there is a pandemic. No difficulty believing they'd consider doing it. Just that it wouldn't pass both PR and Legal's checks on it.

I'm curious. I haven't kept count, but does any OG Bioware member still remain in the company or have finally all left? I think all have left at this point right?

I know some old names are still around. Preston Watamaniuk, Brenon Holmes, Patrick Weekes, Sheryl Chee, Matt Goldman, Mary Kirby, and Parrish Ley (at least, everything I can find points to him still being at Bioware) are some examples. EDIT: and as the post above says, Lukas Kristjanson as well.

Let me guess: Casey + Mark were pushing back too hard against a "live-service Dragon Age," so EA said, "OK, you're out of here. But since you're long-time veterans you can leave on your own terms."

I don't know too many of the 'names' of yesteryear, but know he's been around a long time. Old Man Luke is still there, and a number of other writers have been there for ages - Patrick, Mary, etc. 14+ years. John's been there 13 years...

Sucks to see them going; Mark especially. Dude had a chill vibe to him in one of the livestreams I saw of him. I would assume whatever is planned for DA4 and the next ME game is already partly solidified or in the conceptual phase (the latter more-so for ME), so this doesn't really change the overall direction of these titles. Plus, I think David Gaider mentioned that many of the Dragon Age stories are pre-planned two titles ahead.
One other thing though. If Christian Dailey is heading up Dragon Age, I wonder what that means for the Austin crew with (shudders) Anthem. He was pretty much the main spokesperson for the game, and the main source of news when it came to what ver.2.0 of the game would turn out to be. Is someone coming in to fill his shoes?

Christian Dailey @christiandailey Thank you all for the love and enthusiasm you've shared with me re: Anthem. Wishing my friends @caseydhudson and @biomarkdarrah the very best. Big shoes to fill as I join the DA team. Tough decision but made easier because of the talented Anthem leadership and team in place.

Current Bioware's RPG vision doesn't match old Bioware's RPG vision. As I've said, these decisions have already been made and the goal of the game has been finalized. DA4 is going down a predetermined path, at this point. Expect little deviation in game mechanics. How would you describe the differences between those two visions?
