I’m going to make a point to take a picture of my finished build from last year, which I don’t think I ever put up here. Making this post as a reminder, so I don’t forget again! Wonderful, pictures are always welcome!

I don't really have much to add. I know, it can get pretty boring when everything just works. The build has been pretty much drama free. Same here, I've been quite pleased with my new rig. Water cooling has been efficient, idle at 27C, light load 40C and heavy load around 60C. It's winter, but still. Yup, those are a must.

Aand, I have a hardware question. Saw Linus advertising Logitech G502, and realized that my current G-series mouse is sbout 10 years old. It's working fine, but the surface is so worn it has become slippery and thus uncomfortable to use.
Do you have this mouse? Would you recommend it? It's about 50 quid delivered on Amazon, so the price is right.

I have the G502 HERO 16000 DPI Mouse. I have had it since late 2019 when I also bought the 2019 Refresh of the Razer Black Widow. It has been a fantastic mouse for Gaming and even general use. Very comfortable, fast and responsive. A very good replacement for my original G5 Gaming Mouse from 2005. There is one caveat that I feel I should warn you about. Last March of 2021...I began seeing these very weird *screen flashes*. Everything from a web page to any Windows environment screen (such as THIS PC) no matter what I did...I would open something, then *FLASH* quicker than I could blink the screen would revert back to whatever was previously displayed. Now, I tried every bit of troubleshooting I could possibly think of.....Testing RAM, GPU, swapping out three GPUs even, Stress testing my CPU, checking my M.2s and SSDs for errors even swapping out Mice or putting different mice with different systems....You name it, I did it. I even went as far as doing completely new/fresh/clean Installs of Windows, and for months I couldn't fix this issue. It got SO BAD that it rendered my PC unusable. I spoke to people from EVGA (thinking it was a GPU issue) I spoke to people from Gigabyte (thinking it was a BIOS related issue or other fault with my X-99 Phoenix SLI Motherboard), I spoke to four MS Technicians and Service Advisors, I contacted G.SKILL about my RAM and Samsung about my SSDs and M.2s. I even took it to Canada Computers. Not a single person from any of those companies could tell me what the root cause was nor how to fix it. Finally, quite by chance after about 8 months of problems....I was talking to someone from Logitech and they said "It's a bug that has recently crept up either in Windows or the Logitech software that is causing a conflict between the two and resulting in a glitch in the DPI and sensor sensitivity. The fix is to Uninstall EVERYTHING that is Logitech related. Clean the Registry, then REBOOT and re-install a new, fresh and clean version of the latest Logitech software." Of course this was after six to eight months of nothing but problems. However, I did as the Logitech Rep advised and *poof* ALL traces of any problem related to this were completely and totally gone. The Logitech G 502 HERO has been working without flaws since then. That being said....Here is my advice: If you ever run into the same issue, now you know the fix for it. More over.....all things considered, if you are looking for a solid Gaming Mouse, The Logitech G 502 HERO is one that I would definitely recommend. Alternatively, you can also consider the EVGA X17. I would say that it is every bit as good as the Logitech for about the same amount of money, maybe less depending on where you live.

There is one caveat that I feel I should warn you about. Right, I remember now, you had all kinds of trouble with it. Uninstall EVERYTHING that is Logitech related This has been my guideline anyway. I detest any and all Logitech software and use only Windows drivers. This means of course, that I lose some of the programmability, but it's a trade off I'm willing to make. It has been a fantastic mouse for Gaming and even general use. That's what I was hoping to hear, thanks!

I'm still using my original G502 and I have no issues with it. The Logitech software G HUB also works perfectly for me. The G502 has been a great mouse. I plan on using it and keep replacing the mouse feet whenever they are worn out until the mouse itself breaks. The newer ones with HERO sensors are the problematic ones. Logitech uses the wrong voltage on those switches and that causes a lot of premature failures and double-clicking issues. They really should use better switches instead of cheapening out on them. Good things I have purchased: New Logitech G502 HERO Gaming Mouse (very similar to my original G5 from 2005) and new Razer Black Widow mechanical gaming keyboard w/ green switches. Very nice to type on....the responsiveness of the keys actually makes typing a lot easier than my old MS Digital Media 3000 series keyboard. Very happy with both purchases. Bunny, you should update your original review as well.

I knew it was worth it asking here first! The newer ones with HERO sensors are the problematic ones. Yeah, I researched the issue, and it's not just random cases either, more like everyone and everyone's uncle has this issue. What used to be a good mouse isn't worth it anymore, pity. Goes to show that you should always treat tech Youtubers as entertainment and nothing more. -No, not you Steve, you're ok!

Yeah, it's a good thing that Linus actually mentions that issue in his video at the 6:40 mark. My G502 Lightspeed with the HERO sensor developed that issue but I was able to get it replaced under warranty. It is a very widespread and well documented problem even on this site. My friend even made a soldering station just to replace the switches on his and his friends' G502s. The switches are cheap but my eyes aren't good and my hands aren't steady enough for the job. I guess when my G502 Lightspeed breaks again, I'll just let him fix it and treat him and his wife to a nice dinner.

Linus actually mentions that issue in his video I had to re-watch his video, and sure enough he mentions it. I was probably getting a cup of coffee or something 'cause I missed it. The other thread has like four pages; I hardly ever read it. This thread is the bomb. The switches are cheap but my eyes aren't good Same. In the olden days I would've swapped those switches in no time. I'll just let him fix it and treat him and his wife to a nice dinner. Hear, hear! Friends are more important than money. I still need that new mouse though.. How's Logitech G Pro?

I still need that new mouse though.. How's Logitech G Pro? I think even the G Pro and the G Pro Wireless have the same problem because Logitech products all use the same 20 million cycle and 50 million cycle Omron switches. The 50m switches are the ones with the highest failure rates especially when they're used in lower voltage (3.3v instead of 5v). The 20m ones are much better but they can still fail over time. This video explains the issues better than I can. You can skip to 1:01:40 to see the conclusion of that video. At this point, I just accept that it is normal wear and tear. Until these peripheral manufacturers have finally made mice that allow us to easily replace the switches, I will just keep using my G502s as I have a couple extra G502 Proteus Core and Proteus Spectrum (both non-HERO models) in my storage room as backup.

I ended up buying the Razer Basilisk V2. It was on sale and they didn't have the V3. It's tad too small for me, but feels pretty good otherwise. Optical switches should last for some time too.

I'm looking to replace my 1080ti. The PSU I have is a year old and can handle the higher wattage of the new GPUs. The question is what card should I get?
I'm sticking to Nvidia. Any recommendations? At most I'm looking at a RTX 3080 but I'm not sure if I should go for 3080ti as the latter uses more watts.
I don't have a habit of overclocking GPUs. I'm looking for stability and reliable performance. Any recommendations appreciated.
