Maybe the ram is pumping so much voltage to allow it to reach CL 16? If so I better go back to my Teamgroup choice... Both G.Skill and Crucial Ballistix DDR4 3600 kits that I use are CL16 as well. The Crucial kit has much tighter timings as well (16-18-18-38). It's too bad that Crucial has discontinued all Ballistix lineup, and none of these would work well with the NH-D15 anyway. You can always raise the first fan on the NH-D15 to make the RAM fit underneath, but you also need to make sure your PC case has enough room and that fan isn't sticking out too much. Otherwise you won't be able to close the side panel. It is very saddening about Ballisitx ram line. Crucial ain't so crucial anymore since they did that in my opinion. The Team Group is actually CL 18 so... To go from 16-19-19-39 to 16-18-18-38 -should be easy to do manually -maybe its left loose to allow for the range to be pulled tighter: www.poweredbymushkin.com/Home/index.php/catalog/memory/redline/item/1754-mrc4u360gkkp32gx2? Yeah the D15 comes with a 140 mm fan but I can always get one of those 120mm Icebergs and that will more than make up for loss of the bigger fan:

Otherwise you won't be able to close the side panel. Also I have been doing some research and it seems I may know why certain memory maybe running at different voltages. It certainly isn't RGB related -since the ones I linked didn't have it and were running 1.4 volts. I believe its the type of chips the DDR4 is using -specifically Samsung B-die or Hynix and all others. The chips that are using Samsung B-die are the ones that seem to be running at 1.35v. Hynix and all other chips and the like looks like they are running at 1.4v. Just further proof that Samsung B-die is more power efficient. I'm probably wrong about all of this though... I should probably avoid 1.4 if it is true... since... I am all about the efficiency.

Mushkin used to be one of the top memory manufacturers and a favorite of PC enthusiasts back in the Pentium 3/4 days. They must have focused on the US/NA market; I don't recall hearing about them at all. Although, at the time I was employed by a big brand company and worked mostly with OEM products. I did OC very early on though. require 1.4v to run and that seems a bit high Agreed.

In the Samsung vs. Hynix matter I'm firmly in the Samsung camp: They have proven themselves over the years and seem to overclock better. Although I remember you are not keen on OCing. Samsung B-die is more power efficient It depends on what you mean by power efficient. B-dies can run on lower voltage while keeping tighter latencies than Hynix. This is no mean feat. BTW, you can check who uses B-dies in here: B-die finder

Still to be so little known they must really ventured away from the area they were known for. I second that.

BTW, you can check who uses B-dies in here: B-die finderI looked into the B-Die finder and they don't even list the Mushkin ram. So... kind of supports my above theory. And yes your right I don't like to OC but I like that head room. Since it will give to the longevity of the chips -let me extrapolate: A chip that is binned say for 3600 Mhz but only ever run at 2400 may last a good deal longer. While a chip that is spec'ed for 3600 being run at 3600 life may be somewhat shorter. That reasoning is probably flawed and down right wrong -right? If not -I think I need to reevaluate my plan on ram here...

That reasoning is probably flawed and down right wrong -right? No, that's a solid one, as theories go. I wouldn't underclock RAM though; that's just going to slow down your Ryzen considerably. And you get less bang for buck.

There is a reason why RAM come with lifetime warranty. They rarely break even when you use XMP/DOCP/EOCP settings.
As for Samsung B-die, they are great for overclocking while maintaining low memory latency. However, they are also very temperature sensitive. So just keep that in mind if you still want to go through the trouble to find them, and pay extra money for them.

And you get less bang for buck. There I agree. I would usually let it run at default... But not this time. This time I will run 2/3 the speed of the ram keep some in the tank. And if I am going for 3600Mhz that should tell you the ram I am looking at now...

Samsung B-Die was where I was going to go... HOWEVER I found out that this system -the six year old one that still uses Kingston DDR3 is on Hynix chips. And I may be lucky but have never had any sort of memory errors with it... except... once... Well actually it turned out to be a SSHD hard drive that seemed to want to be a ram stick.

This was -along with the memory -posted a few post above are the last things ordered. Though that ram isn't exactly the low profile as I would like its the best bang for buck to still give head room... Another positive is it also has no conflicting RGB.

Also hopefully as soon as my statement clears these are on the chopping block: The Hard Drives, SBW, 2nd-ary MB, some Iceberg Thermal IceGALEs and the Camera. However the very last thing is such a chore I will never understand these structurally unsound fad "Gamer Desks". Put some sturdy legs on -good grief this isn't a ballerina convention! As to the 4000 series... I think Anthony says it best:

this isn't a ballerina convention! Indeed it is not! But isn't working on this insides of a PC dainty work that requires grace, skill, dexterity and flexability?

If price were no object and you wanted someone else to build you a custom PC, who would you order it from? There used to be small companies that built custom PCs, but they are all gone. However, since youtubers were mentioned: Jay for looks, phenomenal water cooling and practical OC Steve and Anthony for overall performance and functionality Der8auer for that weird German engineer approach and OC Actually Hardcore Overclocking for.. well it's all in the name Well of course you can only pick one -they would never be able to work together to build it. And if you interject Linus into this -that is one ego that will overwhelm them all.

Plus reach ... don't forget reach. And TuTus too? I don't think we're in Asus anymore.

Indeed it is not! But isn't working on this insides of a PC dainty work that requires grace, skill, dexterity and flexability? Either that or a hammer, a blow torch and a pair of wire cutters... That said I was referring to the skinny legs of the "Gamer Desks": Being like that of a ballerina -too much pressure and it breaks. Plus reach ... don't forget reach. And TuTus too? I don't think we're in Asus anymore. Agreed. ASUS isn't worth anything anymore.
