Ten years ago, I could never imagine that desktop PCs would become bigger, hotter, and even more power hungry. Well, the writing was on the wall: in the past 20 years, coolers have been getting bigger and bigger. And since we are now water cooling, I bet the next step will be adding better and bigger radiators. The power consumption will probably reach 1kW soon. Talk about space heaters. THIS is the most scientific thing from those abominations of movies. I would love for some tech group to get on board this idea and make it work. For THIS is the future if you can't see it your digging your own grave.

Noctua NF-S12B redux as radiator fans or case fans or both? Just case. For radiator, I use the EK-Vardar S 120ER that came with the AIO. If you want better AIO performance I can help you there: Or you can get: Heard this is the best AIO fan that can get you 3000 RPM... In my opinion its far quieter than other 3000 RPM fans I have tried: www.newegg.com/iceberg-thermal-xtra-case-fan/p/1YF-0184-00035

No need at all. The fans rarely hit the maximum RPM with my current setup. 3000 RPM is just overkill.

The increase in power consumption, were it to match a good ratio of increased performance, would not be a major issue since very few of us actually need space heater computing power.
We have amazing computers the size of a deck of cards, that use drips of electricity and can do more computing than our cellphone/tablet. All of these computers just mentioned can game. So, we get back to my original question - That thing got a HEMI in it?
It's the kind of question someone only concerned with raw performance asks, ignoring any other useful metric of total performance. Like the redneck in the commercial.

It's the kind of question someone only concerned with raw performance asks, ignoring any other useful metric of total performance. Like the redneck in the commercial. It has more to do with how the modern CPUs are already tuned to run at near red line using their boost algorithm. In the good old days we could buy a lower end CPU and overclock it to nearly match the performance of its higher end and more expensive counterparts. Nowdays, the overclocking headroom of these cheaper CPUs is much smaller. I mean it's great that you're getting the most out of them for your money, but that also means they all run fast and hot out of the box on stock settings. Surely there are mini PCs and handheld devices that are made for gaming like the Steam Deck, but their gaming performance is only a fraction of what you can potentially get on a desktop PC. You just can't defy physics no matter how hard you try especially on a device the size of a "deck of cards." Larger heatsinks and radiators means better cooling, quieter operation, and more performance that you can squeeze out of your system. So to a lot of people, the benefits of gaming or doing their work (compiling/rendering) on an expensive desktop PC is well worth the tradeoff of increased power consumption and heat. Sometimes the performance and time that you save just matter more.

Them: "I said...." Me: "WHAT?" Them: "I SAID!..." Me: "SORRY CAN'T HEAR YOU -TRY LATER!" Them: *Walk away hands in the air* At worst high fan speed will make gaming from "normies" less intrusive so its a win for me.

What is ironic is since Hemi's do the Push Pull with fuel -though using fluid dynamics in the chambers... So they technically can -by these definitions can be classified as fans -so... IF the PC has a fan on the graphics processor then its a HEMI. So any PC with a GPU fan has a HEMI... My GPU is a HEMI huh never thought that. Oh rewindbutton bmwcrazy Energizer Bunny 211 Hemi is a combustion chamber design usually used in trucks but is seen cars like some versions of the Ford Mustang: auto.howstuffworks.com/hemi.htmRight @gaben7?

Hemi is a combustion chamber design usually used in trucks but is seen cars like some versions of the Ford Mustang: auto.howstuffworks.com/hemi.htmRight @gaben7 ? Hemi just means hemispherical combustion chamber. It is basically a domed cylinder head design and it has been used by a lot of manufacturers like Porsche, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Lotus, and Ford as you mentioned. The "Hemi" name is more or less a marketing term for Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth. Kind of like how Nvidia using their "RTX" brand to associate with the ray-tracing technology.

I did mention that some people need powerful computers. I know I don't, and my old 3820 is still a strong performer in computing tasks, LGA2011 was a little ahead of its time in some regards and why I chose it despite not being a "gaming" chip. The 5600 is better obviously, and yes we do need a decent CPU to play demanding games. What I am arguing, is that what a RPI4 can do compared to what a 5800/3090 build can do, is only appreciable in very specific circumstances, and for most mundane tasks you will notice no difference in performance between the two. For business purposes, time is money no argument there. If you are doing some serious DB queries, rendering 3d models etc yes you need a machine that is built for that or you're killing yourself. I don't do that stuff on my computers much anymore. This makes my argument anecdotal I suppose. Long story short too late - I will be building again sometime soon. I need to replace my Nvidia Shield, and will build a PC that can run LibreElec and playback 4k video, and play emulated console games at a decent resolution. This will likely be an Intel build top to bottom, since Intel has a leg-up (thanks to dirty business tactics) on video encoding/decoding. Might go with a red GPU, haven't got to that part of the decision process yet because I want the cheapest least powerful device I can get by with. I guess that is where my fascination with the hobby is going - how can I do more or equivalent with less? What do I really need? My answer depends on how honest I'm being with myself. My work rarely demands I do things computationally challenging, although Vectorworx can definitely tax any system and if I were interested in making more money (stares at self, blinks) I would work with it more. However, I just am not interested in making money very much anymore (stares at self again, minor twitch) and so... I'm trying to be honest with myself here lol, I think you see where I'm going. I have to complain about power consumption, because ultimately I am a weirdo edge-case homelabber with too many computers running almost 24/7/365 in my home. Wife works from home in logistics, two monitors. I have the NAS, the Shield, my gaming PC, my lab PC, a Pi-Hole, and my business class firewall device, and another old PC that is waiting to be gutted and built into the LibreElec "Shield" replacement. I will lose Nvidia Gamestream which is a bummer and could be avoided by choosing an Nvidia GPU, but man I am not sure I can stomach any more BS from Nvidia at this point. Steam Link can do a lot of that stuff just fine if I need to play something demanding on my couch. So, am I a hypocrite? Probably, but I'm working on it

I built my latest gaming PC solely for one thing and that was ray-tracing. I was simply curious about how ray-tracing affects the graphics quality so I had to see it for myself. The crazy thing is that the RTX 3090 still isn't powerful enough to drive Cyberpunk 2077 with ray-traced reflections and shadows. It doesn't hit the 60 FPS target consistently even at 1440p with the help of DLSS. So I probably need to upgrade again. I have other PCs for other purposes as well. I've got two HTPC that also serve as my Bittorrent seed boxes (living room and bedroom), a 60TB NAS for archive storage, two gaming PCs (bedroom and office), also a couple tablets and laptops that I use for various things. My HTPCs and NAS are on 24/7, but I only turn on my gaming PCs when I need to use them. It's nice to be able to appreciate the capabilities of small devices like the Raspberry Pi or your phone, but having a powerful PC that can crunch through any tasks that I throw at it is also very satisfying for me. Even for something as simple as playing CP2077 with ray-tracing. Like having a powerful sports car. You don't drive it everyday. But on a cool and sunny weekend, you take it out to an empty winding road and open that throttle. You'll be reminded of why it's great to be alive and proceed to forget about the mundane aspects of everyday life. That's what I live for. I already put my name down on the waiting list for the C8 Z06, so fingers crossed.

Nothing wrong with that. Welcome to the club. You could always go solar or geo-thermal... Or also under-volt while over clocking -get same performance as stock with less power. Red Blue White build huh? Here: Think that is Corsair RAM -can't tell. If so I found Team White.

Sorry maybe you got more recent news last I heard: The Z06 is coming for sure but in a very limited production run. I put my name down last year with a dealer but I'm not counting on it, simply because I wasn't their customer. If they actually manage to get me an allocation, this will be my first Chevrolet. These things are the last of a dying breed. Classic internal combustion engines are going away. I won't be surprised if C9 is fully electric. Personally though I would much rather have a hypercar than a sports car... LMFAO So would anyone else if they could afford it. You think we all have millions of dollars to throw around?
