Have you seen the newest CoolerMaster case that replaces the H500M? It can fit 2 360 radiators flat out on the bottom.
It's MASSIVE

Being a big fan of Gigabyte/Aorus for their motherboards, and sadly now that EVGA is out of the GPU business....My next GPU brand of choice would be Gigabyte/Aorus. This video I found about the 4090 models from Gigabyte/Aorus seem to me as a good argument to make the switch and choose Gigabyte/Aorus over MSI. Are there even any games that would require hardware like that? Are these any good for VR? After the RTX 20X series it seems like they just quietly moved away from that selling point entirely and the 30-40X series are just consoomerist bullshit.

Are there even any games that would require hardware like that? Are these any good for VR? After the RTX 20X series it seems like they just quietly moved away from that selling point entirely and the 30-40X series are just consoomerist bullshit. Some games utilize it but it can be turned off and with it off you definitely can see a performance bump. bmwcrazy loves the RT and can attest to the FPS being lower with it on than off. I think 60+FPS with it on and over 150+ FPS with it off. VR would be a good use though I think they may seriously be lacking in realism if used for such. Ray Tracing is something that graphics cards have been struggling with for decades. It has been so time consuming and arduous for GPU's to achieve before turing. The Rasterization method is what all cards up to the 2000 series used to basically give the same effect but was a lot easier. Rasterization is done via SHADERS <--- Sound familar? Since it didn't require the GPU to do nearly as much complex math as the Ray Tracing method does. Yep 2000 series and up basically have been given mini super calculators to do the RT math. If that just confused you more -watch Linus explain it: What makes it so over the top is these graphics cards are now able to do the required math ALOT easier and faster. A Nvida MX4000 would probably go nuclear if you tried with it and that is a 19 year old card come this December. Still I don't care one way or the other for Ray Tracing its just gimmicky to me. For me its all about the CUDA and no not:

Can't say that I have. Is it the HAF700? Yes. After double-checking the model...it was the HAF 700 I was referring to. It's nearly a full 2x bigger all around than my 2019-20 H500M which is also quite large. I mean, up to a potential for 2x 360mm Coolers on Top or Bottom....that's 720mm of cooling awesomeness. The case has got to be HUGE to make that accommodation

Faster and hotter. So... it beats the R9 7900X but is close to the FX 9590 in inefficiency? Yep it figures when like its counterpart it pushes the wattage through the roof. So begins the one-ups-manship awards have. Call me when they get back to actually innovating...

Call me when they get back to actually innovating... When you're talking about efficiency, you have to look at both performance and power consumption. You can't just look at the only the power consumption. Here is a better chart that shows you the power consumption in relation to the performance. In this case, the power required to achieve the same task (Blender). The lower it is, the more efficient the CPU is. If you plotted the FX 9590 on the chart, it would easily be the least efficient CPU.

Are there even any games that would require hardware like that? Are these any good for VR? After the RTX 20X series it seems like they just quietly moved away from that selling point entirely and the 30-40X series are just consoomerist bullshit. It's funny that you mentioned the RTX 20-series because they were actually considered bad value for most GTX 10-series owners. The performance increase and the new ray-tracing features weren't enough to justify the high prices, and that's why so many people just stuck with their GTX 10-series GPUs instead of upgrading. In hindsight, they probably wished they had bought the 20-series instead. When the RTX 30-series GPUs were announced, there was an unprecedented demand for them because of crypto mining. Plus the global semiconductor shortage due to a combination of supply shortage and the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced the worst GPU drought that lasted for more than a year. Anyway, you probably don't need a 4090 or even a 3080 for most games. It all depends on your screen's resolution, refresh rate, graphics settings, and what kind of games. If you want to use a 4K display for a game like Elden Ring, you probably need a GPU like the RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT to reach that 60 FPS performance target constantly without much framerate drop. A mid-range GPU like the GTX 1660 Ti would struggle to get 25-30 FPS at 4K. If you play at 1080p, the 1660 Ti is more than enough to drive the game to 60 FPS. There are also games that not even an RTX 3080 or 3090 could run properly. Honestly, I haven't encountered any games that my 3090 can't handle other than CP 2077 and Flight Sim 2020. Are these any good for VR? For VR games though, you actually want to use a powerful GPU because you want to push the framerate as high as you can. Low framerate can cause nausea and you don't want that. Having played Half-Life Alyx and Honey Select on a Valve Index and an RTX 3090, I can tell you that the 3090 is a great GPU for VR.

Anytime Steve says three words that have at least four vowels in them in less than five words I give it extra weight. Maybe that is wrong but just look how many times he said it in the beginning of the conclusion:Still... Yeah the FX-9590 would be at or near the bottom but then so are the 10,12 and 13 900K's. AMD's 5000 generation beats both its replacement and all the Intel chips. My point is neither company is even trying to innovate anymore they just dump more power through and at marginally better performance numbers -if that. We are back to the end of the FX run all over again...I doubt anyone -except me really cares to get the performance per watt back to a non-rediculous wattage and price ratio. Most just want more power -oomph -which if they want let them have. I see no reason for it though if its just going to be so marginal.

Never got nausea. Then again I rode the roller coaster: "The Hulk" at Universal Studios and fell asleep from boredom so maybe I just have an iron stomach?

It is probably the least efficient desktop CPU I have ever seen. At least the 13900K is more efficient than the 10900K and the 12900K because of the huge performance jump. So I guess there's some improvement. It also shares the same platform as the 12th-gen, so there's a new upgrade path for the current LGA1700 owners out there. We just have to accept the fact that the best performing CPUs are now hitting 95-100C regularly.

The higher the framerate is, the less chance of you getting motion sickness. For Half-Life Alyx, the game uses a dynamic resolution that constantly adjusts your game's resolution in order to keep the framerate up. If you want your game to look nice and sharp, you NEED a powerful GPU. Otherwise, the game will turn down the resolution automatically and you end up looking at a blurry mess. The default refresh rate of the Valve Index is 120hz, but there is also an 80hz and 90hz mode. I use 120hz for my games.

NOT in the next year or so I may grant you but in a decade this will be remembered as a faux pas. We all know heat kills electronics no matter how durable it claims to be. I don't care if its the best silicon in the world not even electronic circuitry can beat degradation and thermodynamics. Till a 7950X or a 13900K survives a 24/7/365 system for 7-10 years under moderate load -pegged at 95-100*C I will stay very skeptical about longevity. Its almost as bad as Jensen's statement that the cheap GPU's are dead...

The case has got to be HUGE Unfortunately that seems to be the direction we are headed. It's big, they all are: HAF 700 EVO = 556 x 279 x 540 mm (84 litres) Phanteks ENTHOO PRO 2 = 580 x 240 x 560 mm (78 litres) and my favourite: Fractal Define 7 XL = 590 x 240 x 548 mm (77 litres) Build a proper custom loop, and you're going to need something like that.

not even electronic circuitry can beat degradation and thermodynamics True, ultimately they will all fail. There are ways to protect the silicon though. Like the chips automotive industry uses, that are designed to constantly run at over 100C and have a lifestime expectancy of ~15 years.

not even electronic circuitry can beat degradation and thermodynamics True, ultimately they will all fail. There are ways to protect the silicon though. Like the chips automotive industry uses, that are designed to constantly run at over 100C and have a lifestime expectancy of ~15 years. And their size? Bigger or smaller than the AMD and INTEL CPU's? swimming pool sized cooler Ahh, the future! Not future but work in progress present:

swimming pool sized cooler Ahh, the future! The Corsair iCue H115 RGB Pro XT 280mm AIO Liquid Cooler is a beast. Better cooling performance than the larger H150, and of all the Corsair AIOs Ive had over the years including my go-to for older builds (X79 and X99 platforms), the H80i v. 2 which was a rock.solid performer as well...the 280mm H115 RGB PRO XT is one I would recommend to everyone. And a huge bonus: for $4.99 you can order a LGA1200 or the LGA socket standoff adjustment kit for the pump, to accommodate the newer CPU sockets and bracket types because you bought a newer motherboard. If this is the Cooler you want...go for it! I highly recommend it. Dont let the 9th/10th Gen standard socket compatibility scare you off this great purchase bwcause for an extra 5.00 USD you can easily modify the pump head to fit any of the newest sockets. But man...I cant believe now they have AIOs up to 480mm! I thought 360s were monsters! Personally though....the 280mm AIOs strike a beautiful balance.

In the 7 Years Drunk thread...someone mentioned Uncharted, so I made a post....But then realized that maybe the PC related thread would be a better place for it. Speaking of UNCHARTED......can anyone please tell me what Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves is like on PC and what the Specs are to run it at 4K/60FPS on High or Ultra or Mixed?
I'm actually considering buying it. I've never played any of the Uncharted games though I am familiar with them...and for some reason, this installment seems to be a great place to experience the franchise.
BTW: My system has the following specs...
Intel 10900KF (10 Cores at 2.8 Ghz per Core)
Corsair iCue H115 RGB Pro XT 280mm Liquid AIO CPU Cooler
Gigabyte/Aorus Z490 Master Motherboard
G.SKILL Dual Channel DDR4 32GB (2x16) at 3000MHz (16-18-18-38 default timings) @ 1.35 vholts
1TB Samsung 970 Plus M.2 w/ NVMe (bootable OS)
512GB Samsung 950 Pro M.2 w/ NVMe ( Game back-up Drive)
1TB Crucial 2.5" SSD (Main back-up)
3 WD Mechanical Drives ( External storage for Movies, Pictures etc)
EVGA 1000 Watt P2 Power Supply
EVGA 8GB RTX 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming
Monitor: BenQ PD3200U (32") Professional series 4K Monitor
Case: CoolerMaster H500M Mid Tower
Speakers: Logitech Z623 (200 Watts total RMS) 2.1 THX Certified Desktop Stereo Speakers
Would be interested to hear thoughts about the game itself and/or opinion on how well my spystem would run it.
Thanks!
