The demand for the RTX 4090 remains high. So far I haven't had any luck getting one. Hopefully I can get one before the Cyberpunk expansion pack release.

Yes, I can see that for the 5090 we may need a second power supply that is dedicated to the GPU because it is such a hangry monster: Recommended EVGA 1200, 1600 or even 2000 Watt Platinum or Titanium rated PSU (or equivalent from other brands). Do they even make 2000 Watt PSUs yet?

Good luck using it though. Probably will need a 20 amp or something... That is if using the 115 style plugs and wiring.

A small update.
My RTX 3090 FTW3 had been acting weird in the past two weeks. Sometimes when I booted up the PC it would say "The VGA card is not supported by UEFI driver" and enable CSM automatically. There were also some crashes and performance issues related to the GPU.
EVGA sent out a replacement without asking any questions. I just got it today and so far it has been working perfectly. It's the exact same model with the black lips, it's probably a refurbished model but at least it looks brand new.
Performance wise, it's exactly the same. The GPU also boosts to 1900-1950 mhz. Even the temperatures are very similar, maybe just a couple degrees cooler. The old card has served me well in the past two years but it is going back to EVGA. Hopefully the replacement can last longer than two years.

I decided to finally dive in and do a full system upgrade.
First, I got a nice new 32inch 4k 144hz monitor. Upgraded from a very old first gen 60hz gsync that only had one display port connection.
Then I decided on the 13700k proc, upgrading from my old 4 core 7700k. It did well, but was clearly starting to lose steam on newer games. I was also super lucky last week and when looking at gpus managed to hit Gigabytes store right when they dropped a few 4090s! So I managed to snag one.
Cant wait to get it up and running this week!

Also I forget were you overclocking or running stock with boost?

THIS would be easier and harder at the same time: Vertical Brackets should be the future -in my opinion. No card slot is going to support weight much beyond current card designs I surmise...

Another option is that you just have an iffy Display Port cord. The latter of which is usually fixed either with hot swapping to an HDMI then back to DP.

Back when they first introduced the Resizable-BAR feature on the Nvidia GPUs. Remember I also had an RTX 3090 Founders Edition? I simply swapped them and all the unstability and weird boot issues went away. So it was pretty easy to diagnose. I also tried it with a brand new Displayport cable just in case, but it seemed like video card was on its last legs.

As good as EVGA is. The earlier 3090 FTW3s were prone to these issues.
EVGA didn't do a good job designing the board for the 3090.

Well I think I got my new rig all set up. Though tomorrow I will have to retest the 4090. Think I got that bug they said where on fresh boots it may not display anything till os is ready cause it wasn't giving me a display. Booted up fine with my old card and everything seems in order. So will slot it back in tomorrow and hope for the best!
Though I did noticed my current psu which is an older 1000w only came with 3 pci cords but I've read its alright if you daisy chain the last one. I'll prob look into getting a new psu that just has the new cord at some point.
Update: All is well. After OS was fully installed and drivers downloaded the new card is displaying and working fine. I think the only thing I'm still having issues with is trying to set all the case rgbs but I really don't care about that lol. Otherwise now it's just getting all the drivers and windows updates installed and then getting all my games and software back up and running so I can test the card and performance out!

Last week I finally received 21H2....only some 15 months behind...And since I vanquished that pesky flashy-thingy problem by switching USB ports for my rodent, my PC has been rock solid.
Still cant seem to get my paws on a 2.0 TPM chip though. Gigabyte says they sell the specific model they say is needed for their boards, but their store is always empty. And I cant find them anywhere else.
It is not a concern at the present...But Im thinking after October 14th, 2025....It would be nice to know where to find them if needs be.

Some older motherboards may require a BIOS update or an add-in-module to get it to work right... At least that I have seen so far... Maybe that is the case with Gigabyte... Still most current motherboards should come pre-ready with it: www.digitaltrends.com/computing/motherboards-that-support-tpm-windows-11/

Shouldn't your motherboard have one built-in already? Mine does and all I have to do is enable it in the BIOS. That's it. To be honest Ive never checked but I dont think it does. My board is the Z490 Aorus Master....the newer Masters do (5, 6 and 7 series) but I dont think the 490 does. Will Google the Specs in the morning. Need to go to bed, been up since 2:30 a.m.

I think you're looking at the wrong place. Go to your BIOS, press F2 to go to Advanced Mode, hit Settings > Miscellaneous > Trusted Computing, and enable Security Device Support. Go back to the Miscellaneous menu and enable Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT). Save and exit. That's it. If you don't see these options, you might need to update your BIOS. Also keep in mind that this is the firmware TPM solution which is based on your CPU. That means if you want to use BitLocker to encrypt your drives, you need to keep a copy of your BitLocker Encryption key somewhere safe. Otherwise, you won't be able to access them if you change your CPU or in case of a CPU failure. If your OS is a Pro version and is linked to your Microsoft account, you can recover the key from your Microsoft account profile but this isn't 100% reliable. Just keep a copy of the key somewhere safe like on a USB thumbdrive if you want to use the BitLocker feature, and disable BitLocker altogether before you change your CPU. If you don't use BitLocker and aren't planning on using it, this isn't an issue for you.
