Yeah, I was gonna recommend you to use the driver for the X17 as well. Maybe you should just stick with the Logitech Performance MX for now. I don't understand why you're having the same weird issues even with different or brand new hardware. I've never heard of anything like this to be honest. I guess I'm just lucky that all my PCs work perfectly. PC hardware and modern OS are so reliable nowadays, I can simply leave any of my PCs running for weeks without crashing or ever seen a BSOD. Hi. I certainly dont understand it either, and save for everyone here on the BSN who has been very helpful, no one else I have spoken to (people at Bestbuy, Canada Computers, my IT Guy at work) has ever seen this weird flashing behaviour nor have they any idea of what the cause could be. Im really tempted at this point to take it back to Canada Computers for a tear-down, analysis and rebuild. Thank you to everyone ( Atemporal Vanguardian-Debugger , bmwcrazy , DragonKingReborn , Sekskil, rewindbutton and many others) for all the advice and assistance. Thought you were planning on linking us a video of it? Let us really see the issue before you shell out money for all of that. Heck if I lived in Canada I would debug it free of charge -minus my travel expenses, parts needed to fix, food, lodging, heating, work leave time and of course bed I would have to bring along.

Good morning, yes I will send you all a link from one of the sites you sent me. I will post it on Saturday morning...As for Canada Computers....I am going to do everything I can to solve it myself (with everyone's help 🙂) before I take it back to CanCom. I just mentioned that because it is something I am at least entertaining of doing in future if I cant solve it in the next few weeks or months.

www.4shared.com/s/f-cEktkdHkuThis is a link to a video of what the *flashy-thingy* behaviour was all about.....Before I switched over to using the front 3.0 ports on my case last weekend. This is an older video from 2021, but the behaviour is/was the same as what I have been describing since October of 2022 here on the BSN. Note: As I do not like having my info on a large number of accounts (the likes of which I know will go largely unused) I will leave this link active and the account active for two or three weeks...and then I will be deleting the account. Please try to review the video and post your thoughts in the next two or three weeks. Regards

Option 1: I have seen this before. Especially when using Google chrome -while having other browsers also installed. Do you happen to have chrome flags and hardware acceleration on in google chrome? That has been known to cause screen flickering of this sort. Also you may want to disable the auto accent color and wallpaper slideshow of the Windows OS. Option 2: If none of this works... Then try DDU and reinstalling your graphics driver. Option 3: Another issue that causes this flickering -especially if you hear the USB connect/disconnect sound. Is.... wait for it... What we all been talking about: A USB issue. Though in this case most likely a corrupted 2.0 USB driver not a bad USB port. Having even one device plugged in can send the whole thing out of whack. Reinstall your motherboards USB drivers -NOT the newest ones. I would go to the third USB driver release from the MB manufacture. Have you seen any issues with the front ports yet? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally I want to think its the Hardware acceleration in Chrome... Sorry to say this but... I hate chrome. Again sorry to everyone for being late.

While that video does show the flashing in Chrome....It was an older video, and most recently, the same problems have been ocurring in Edge which I have been using exclusively for the last year since Summer of 2022. But, again, thankyoufor your in-depth reply....I will re-read your reply more thoroughly at a later time and be sure to account for any fixes, such as USB - related stuff, as I am heading to bed in just a moment. But thankyou for your reply. I am glad to hear that you have seen this behaviour before.....I am also glad to hear that you belieive it to be a USB Driver issue, not a bad port....so in this case the fix is manageable, and doesn't or won't require drastic measures like an RMA. I will definitely attend to this next weekend. PS: I hate Chrome, too. I much prefer MS Edge, though the problem has most recently been happening with Edge too...though it might also be hardware accleration related, too....all these thigns and more I will check out very thoroughly next weekend. For now, you have my thanks. Take care, A very thankful Bunny

This issue does mainly occur with Google Chrome installed. So if you use Edge but still have Google Chrome installed I would remove the latter. Personally though I would get rid of both and use something like Safari, Firefox, Vivaldi or even Brave would better than those two resource hogs. I had a further thought while on the toilet... If you right click on the desktop does the context menu respond instantly or is there a delay -like 5, 10, 60 seconds? If the latter forget everything else we have discussed for its a far more obvious culprit and all you need do is do a certain test to be certain.

Good morning. The context menu appears instantly when right-clicking. Whats this test you speak of? And years ago (I'm talking about 15, 20 years ago) I used Firefox exclusively because I didn't like MS Explorer at the time. But with Firefox (and my then current AV suites ESET NOD32 and later, AVG) I was always getting viruses. Plus other browser-related issues with Firefox. So I later switched to Google Chrome, which I liked for a while.....But for the past year or two I have been exclusively using Edge which I like. Yes it is a resource hog, and I'm sure if I nitpicked and spent time really investigating it I could come up with other things I don't like about it. But I do find it better than Chrome. Moving on though, next weekend when I have the chance to turn on my PC I will uninstall Chrome, and check to see if Edge uses or is using Hardware Acceleration. If that is the case, I will uncheck that box to stop the process....maybe even try to reset Edge to its 'factory defaults', see if that helps. And I will also roll back my USB Drivers from Gigabyte....I have the disk that came with the board when I bought it....But I can also find the older drivers on their website, so I will uninstall and then roll back my USB Drivers. *Paws, Feet, Ears and Drumsticks all crossed.....Hoping that solves this issue for good* Thanks again. Have a great day!

Something I remembered: This could be caused by your security suite. I'm thinking some software or a driver is not playing ball with your AV or firewall; probably sending more data outside than is needed, triggering the behavior.

Thanks, but since I can't DL it anonymously, I'll pass. However..looks like someone keeps pressing the back button on your mouse this was quite descriptive. I think I know now what you mean, but I'm thinking this might not show in the error logs, making it very hard to solve. Puzzling indeed. You don't have to download it the site lets you see the video. A preview if you will.

First I should clarify that the test IS right clicking the desktop to get the context menu: If it doesn't do this don't worry... well maybe if on SSDs... which you are... If there is ANY delay I mean ANY a micro-nano-second it still could be the issue. The programs only confirms the issue. Most sites would say its registry or Windows issues but this is not always the case. Anyway what this most commonly means -that no one gets is that a hard drive is failing. Usually a mechanical drive but not always. Its just something I remember also happening with that sort of screen flashing. The programs to use to check HD viability is Crystal Disk Info or HD SentinelDon't worry though for I think we settled this as a non-issue back some time ago. Though It may not hurt to give it another look. Sometimes Hard drives are like cars with sawdust in the engine you don't know its a lemon till its too late. Now it could be any of these things but at least you have things narrowed down enough to debug. Which your debugging plan you mention sounds very sound. Please keep us informed. Godspeed and good luck Energizer Bunny 211

Something I remembered: This could be caused by your security suite. I'm thinking some software or a driver is not playing ball with your AV or firewall; probably sending more data outside than is needed, triggering the behavior. Hmmm...that is something I hadn't considered. I will look into this. Thanks IF IT is the security suite... What is your current security suite? I will say that it is no wonder AVG would give you viruses on firefox. AVG IS A VIRUS just as Clamwin is. My current AV Suite is the best there is: Bitdefender Total Security (2023). I've been using Bitdefender exclusively since 2011 and never had any viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits or any other form of nastiness. It's been the best I've ever used, and the top-rated for the past 15 years. But I agree with your statement about AVG; I say the same about Norton/Symantec. That was my first suite, and it basically hung a HUGE, bright neon sign on my PC that says "PLEASE! COme and infect me! Infect me with everything nasty bit of malware out there!" I"ve toyed with other programs like Malwarebytes, and I liked it....But it didn't always do a good job at detection of things you might expect. I"ve used Norton/Symantec, AVG, NOD32, Kaspersky, Norton, McAfee (which was as bad as Norton), GData, Malwarebytes....and the only suite I've had positive success with is Bitdefender since 2011. But since 2011 I've been malware-free using Bitdefender....and I'll never use anything else.

And yes running Norton Kaspersky and {McAfee -yikes!} is like lighting your PC up like Christmas tree. I personally believe something different now compared to when I ran my security suite. Maybe its just a discovery of time or -I don't know. It seems if you eliminate the adware and spyware trying to get into your system a lot less viruses and what not make it in. So its mainly Anti-Adware and Anti-Spyware programs that I mainly run now. Specifically SpyHunter5 -not the ransomware one (got to be very careful which you have). I also use SuperFreeAntispyware -I know its not a malware detector but I don't use it for that anyway. So far virus free -at least according to Malwarebytes -which I have not run in months.

Hey Vanguard. So Step 1: Uninstall Chrome. Completed using REVO Uninstalller Pro. Step 2: Right-click Test: Green Light PASS....No Delay of any kind. Other Steps to be completed later.....Willl Keep you posted.
