I must be the ONLY Mass Effect fan to NOT be pleased about Cavil's involvement. What ever his part maybe. I like the Man as an actor. The first thing I ever saw him in was The Tudors. Playing along side Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I don't know....I just can't picture him in ME. And certainly NOT as Shepard. But hey, I'm a Cynic by nature, so may be I'll end up being pleasantly surprised?!

Personally I don’t give a shit who plays Shepard, because I fundamentally disagree with translating this character to a fixed narrative, animated or live action.

I don't care one way or the other, because I know the movie is going to be a poorly made clusterfuck mess, that is most likely going to horribly bomb, and thus nothing else about it will matter.

Has it been confirmed he's playing Shepard tho? I'm thinking he'll play a character like Major Coats during the Reaper invasion. But they'll call him Major Cotts or something just to piss people off. Haha. [Edit] Never mind. I read that its supposedly about the Rannoch storyline. RIP Major Cotts.

It MAY surprise you. Where's your optimism/bright side? 1. It died long ago, with ME3, then again with Fallout 4, and again with Disney Star Wars, and finally one last time with Anthem. It's not coming back. 2. Video Game movies are always crap, Sonic was the exception.

I definitely understand the skepticism...I went into the Witcher show with the same but ended up pleasantly surprised. I really don't see him in any other role than Shepard...whether he can pull it off time will tell. I would say of more importance are the writers, directors, and the CGI being believable enough than the casting. You know the saying There are no bad actors. There are only bad directors who cannot make their actors act. A bit of hyperbole yes, but I've found it to be generally true.

I doubt they'll hide his features behind Turian or other alien makeup/CGI. They'll want to use his prestige and popularity to their advantage to make a movie go more mainstream for $$$. Cavill also surprisingly looks a lot like Sheploo when his hair is buzzed- something I never noticed until recently so I could only imagine

I don't care one way or the other, because I know the movie is going to be a poorly made clusterfuck mess, that is most likely going to horribly bomb, and thus nothing else about it will matter. It MAY surprise you. Where's your optimism/bright side? Optimism?! Optimism died on the Citadel in a terrible explosion. It died in a muilticolored F U that destroyed the entire Relay Network and therefore the entire Milky Way. It died in a slide show that was the final "Flipping of the Bird" from BioWare, and the utterance of "Artistic Integrity". Have people forgotten how openly hostile BioWare was towards its fans in those days? Optimism gives way to holding the wallet. I held my wallet rather tightly and watched Andromeduhh choke and die on its own hubris. I watched another not so worthy game die off - Anthem? That pathetic waste of effort proves that optimism for this studio is futile. ME3 was the end of BioWare. People say its not that bad and go on and on, but they should be as angry as I am - not because of how awful ME3 is, but because of how amazing it should have been. Even as the company tries to regain some former glory by reselling their old content, they are still hiding from those appalling endings - and still not willing to fix their mess. I'll be optimistically holding my wallet. Even Henry Cavill can't save Mass Effect, and that's saying something.

I was just thinking after reading your post and agreeing with it, that I still have like 2500+ hours in the MP of a game that I hate so much. Thats how good the MP was. and goddamn it if it was in the MELE how fast I woulda bought it.

I felt similar when news of ME5 broke and it featured Liara. Though not even Andromeda was far enough to escape her so...*Shrugs*

Bioware hires Henry Cavill as facemodel for Tali? This would make Tali way better looking than I imagined and simultaneously even less attractive as a romantic partner. 🤣

I hope the movie is a 3 hour film about the ending of ME3, with Cavil being explained the 3 choices by the Catalyst, and reminiscing on his adventures up to that point as the AI describes each choice....and then after the talk Cavil walks forward to pick a choice...and it ENDS! Cliffhanger!!!! I just want to see the angry reactions and tasty tears of people still furious at the endings after almost a decade. It hurt you...it controls your every thought...and now it will hurt you more! Muwhahahahahahahahaahahahahaaaaa!!!

Ah yes, flaming people who interpret things differently than you, is still cool.
Is it still cool?
Glad you enjoy the suffering of others, strange sadistic behavior in my opinion with a dash of 13 year old.

I just find it funny how people argue over something over as simple as a video game. 9 years later. FYI, I didn't and still don't like how ME3 ended.

Suffering are parents who can't make end meet to take care of themselves or their kids. Suffering are people watching their family and friends die. Suffering is wondering whether or not there's going to be an all out civil war tomorrow because of events you have no control over. The ME3 Ending....that should not be considered suffering. People are taking it to personal. As if its an insult to their very existence. Worse than Covid. Worse than the plague. Worse than Worse than slavery. Worse than World War 1 and 2. People don't like the ending...fine. But people are acting like it gave them ptsd. ITS JUST A GAME. Its kind of hard to not be somewhat amused...

How about Cavill playing Casey Hudson in a tale of hubris and failure?
A remake of “On The Waterfront” set in the making and failure of ME3.
Would love to see him as Hudson saying “I coulda been a contender…”

The ending absolutely fomented a deep depression that lasted for months. It wasn't all about the game, but the game was absolutely the trigger. I enjoy shadenfreude sometimes too. Just not generally over how people feel about things. Have fun I guess. I'm over it now, but I'm certainly not ashamed of how I was affected.
