It's important that new players to MELE have the relative safety to discuss the game without bumping into seasoned veterans discussing the endings while they have barely made it to the Citadel. How we go about that is something we can discuss. The 'newbie' thread is here and it'll be unlocked when MELE launches: bsn.boards.net/thread/18986/effect-legendary-edition-players-discussion There are a considerable number of people who have (you may need to sit down) never played Mass Effect. There may also be people who never got around to the multitude of DLC. So this thread is for new players and players of new content (to them). Please don't throw huge spoilers around but do share your new playthroughs.

I mean I thought it was a bit weird to make the LE its own seperate sub forum in the first place but since we are here anyways I am imagine we will see a lot of reopening of old classics.

Won't we be facing a situation where all that stuff will be recreated in this sub forum? Yes, the original ME forums are the place for deep knowledge of the trilogy. But there are loads of people coming afresh and wading into the existing forums can be so spoiler-laden, even accidentally, that we need a 'nursery slope' for new folks.

What about other threads? A new suicide mission thread? A new war asset thread? If new players make them, that's fine and up to them - or if they dive into the old threads, that's fine too. After the remaster has been out a little while, we can tidy up back in one place. The most important thing is to welcome new players.

Why make new threads when directing them to the current threads would work? That would save x amount of time for you from 'tidying up', right? Isn't there a thread for new players to introduce themselves? When they do, if they do, someone usually welcomes that poster.

I think the most important thing is...and also something for us vets to consider as well...the current runs of the 'what did you do today in x' threads are filled with spoilers because us vets do not care and for us its very old hat but the LE does provide us with the unique opprotunity that...essentially...ME is new again. And rather then risk it it actually makes a fair bit of sense to keep everthing segregated...for the time being.

Is that the same excuse you will use for the suicide mission thread, the war assets thread, character threads, and any other thread? Someone will create a thread asking how he/she can have this or that character die during the suicide mission. Would would you do? Link them to the current thread or come up with whatever explanation to getting that character killed without having to refer to the thread? No matter what, any questions about whatever, people will post a link to the current thread for that poster to read. Over time that person and others might end up posting in the thread instead of wasting time creating a new thread.

Yes. If your pc run MEA without trouble (anything above the minimum) you should be able to run the Remaster. Well, that just isn't true because I can run MEA just fine on my Win 7 system. But if Win 10 is required, as the specs say, I won't be able to play it until I upgrade.

There were plenty of "vets" here at the time and it wasn't a problem. We were all new to this at one time and we all go thrown into the deep end. That said, the presence of this thread has no impact on me.

The most important thing is to welcome new players. It also helps to control the morons who enjoy shitting on everything and everyone. Easier to pick them up on a new area. Yes. Well, you likely would be able to run the game on win7 but since there is no support from Microsoft anymore don't expect any support/bugfix focused on this system. So yeah better upgrade your OS.

Currently discussion around the Legendary Edition is in a separate sub forum from the rest of the trilogy.
Would it make sense to create a new "What did you do today in ME" thread there when the Legendary Edition releases or should we post in the old version of that thread in the Mass Effect Trilogy sub forum?
I imagine there is going to be a lot of people doing playthrouhgs and posting screenshots and such. Curious if we should keep the two versions of the games separate and if a new thread is created should we avoid spoilers for a few months post release?

Just been thinking about this, keeping the MELE as story-spoiler-free as possible until a later time - I wouldn't suggest that people can't post in the MELE area, but that everything should be under spoiler tags. I think it's a reasonable option to keep open. If people want to use it, fine, if they don't they can just dive into the MET area. Everything will merge back into there someday anyway. In fact, I'm going to propose merging the MELE content into the MET sub on November 7, 2021. That's near enough to 6 months after release that probably most people who want to avoid spoilers will be able to. Is everyone really that concerned about duplicate threads? I don't feel like it's going to be that much of a problem to merge.
