I voted for Wrex because: - I am a known krogan simp and Wrex is my all-time favorite character. Plot be damned, I missed girlbossing with Wrex to the side. The eternal tragedy for me, personally, is that he wasn't a romance option, either.
- I really like the idea of a full circle: Tali, Garrus, Liara, and the Virmire Surviver all get to come back to the squaddie party, so Wrex is the odd one out.
- That's it. I don't rly care abt the gameplay or balancing the powers, I'm just here for the narrative.

I'm a little surprised that Miranda is such a clear winner, though I suppose her ME3 arc was less interesting and consequential than most of the other ME2 squadmates', so it's not like we'd be losing much. Even Kasumi represents a little variety in deciding she doesn't want to risk her life again if there are other, easier ways to help the war effort. But Miranda just spends the entire game looking for her sister and doesn't even help Shepard get to Horizon - IIRC, they don't know she's there until part of the way through the mission.
I also thought they should have had her start the game still with Cerberus, or at least in the process of getting out, if she was not loyal to Shepard at the end of ME2. I know she expresses reservations if you save the Collector Base, but a disloyal Miranda would only survive if not part of the final 3, which means no "consider this my resignation" scene.
(Though at least she doesn't stay at the Citadel indefinitely afterwards like Jacob and Zaeed seem to.)

Miranda hands down, she was sorely missed. The squad is not the same without her.

Are we just wanting returning squadmates from 2? Then I would vote for my second favorite of the trilogy: Kasumi Goto.
Otherwise, perhaps a new character would be fun, like Aria, after completing her Omega missions. Or a different Quarian, like Kal'Reegar. I really like Padok Wiks, but I have no idea how he could have been integrated as a squadmate (mutually exclusive with Mordin, but likely passed over due to wasted resources).
