Participated in a White/Geth/Gold pug last night with the SI and used the Black Widow for the first time in ages. It was not as fun as Gold with the Valiant (my recent go-to SR); I think the lower weight of the Valiant had spoiled me and got me too used to the low cooldown the Valiant provides. The BW, by comparison to the light and quiet Valiant, sounds like an artillery piece going off on my shoulder (as it is pretty much artillery) and looked through the scope like I was shooting targets with buckshot. It never seemed to do that much damage either, though the game was fairly laggy and I think that was why. Basically I think I just need to L2BW, including reload canceling, another area where the Valiant spoils you. Is the BW more effective when hosting? I wouldn't think lag would affect sniper rifles that much, but the kinda-sorta-SR Kishock certainly is affected. Quick-scoping the BW, for one thing, was hard.
Along the same lines, how viable a replacement is the Indra for heavier-hitting SRs? It never seems to do that much damage either, but maybe I'm not using the right mods. Regardless, that 200% cooldown with the Indra on the Salarian Infiltrator is hard to resist.

IMO BW is the one which goes with almost everything. It is heavy but infiltrators rarely give cooldown a fxxk.
Valiant needs headshot and RC to reach best performance.
Kishock is projectile so it has problems off-host.
Indra is for engineers (at least for me).

I'm a more patient sniper, I usually stick to priority targets like Marauders, and so find the M-98 and Kishock better because 1 headshot even out of cloak almost always does the job right.
However, I find the Valiant comically overpowered aginst geth, because you can just move the mouse sideways since most of their minions have heads at the same height/level.
I have yet to try Indra. Might try it when I get to level V, but for that, must first get a whole lot more credits.

ah,not a big user of black widow , of all snipers the Widow is my fav. that awesome sound that resonates for miles ! once my Widow/phasic OSOK'd 2 phantoms with the same shot on Dagger ( the famous corridor, and wave 8 of course ), i loved it ever after. you expect that stuff from a Javelin but the Widow makes you more of an assassin. I like an Incendiary Indra with rate of fire and accuracy ( and barrage ) .

Black Widow is right up there with the Javelin for the top spot SR in the game and you can make valid arguments on why it's even better than the Javelin.
I like the Valiant a lot (sexy as hell), but it really lacks boss killing power. BW will single clip a Brute and 2 clip an Atlas on an Infiltrator. Valiant - not so much.
Indra is not really a "sniper rifle" is a glorified AR with a scope. Useful for priming enemies for fire explosions/tech bursts, but I hate the sparks it makes when shooting.

Honestly I don't know how the Black Widow, the Valiant and the Indra can be put in the same sentence. It's like comparing the Raider vs the Piranha vs the Scimitar.

Javelin should be compared to Widow and Javelin wins handily BW can't be compared to anything really. Maybe Valiant as both are 3 shot UR's, but even then apples and oranges Indra however could be compared to CSR in some ways.

As Jenny said, the BW is the best SR in the game with the Javelin.
I would say the Valiant is the best compromise among the SRs between cooldowns and the ability to 1-2 shots mooks for characters who care about powers recharge speed. I like it particularly on the asari adept, as it's possible to one-headshot kill stased little units with warp rounds and the weapon synergizes perfectly with her cooldowns with a 66606 build.
The Indra can be seen as a very accurate assault rifle which can pierce a great distance (since it has a "free" scope, one can stack the piercing mods on it). This weapon is very light too, so it's a very solid choice on power-oriented classes who can be effective at range. It is also an incredible mooks killer on the DAI, on par with the best SRs in that department. Always use incendiary rounds with the Indra.

Indra is THE SR for you, Saikyo-san. It's just like a Revenant - just with a tad more accuracy and smaller clip. It still blooms nicely, they look like tracers (beautiful through scope) and I've used this with QMI for Plat. in fact it was one of the first kits I felt confident with in Plat. Don't forget your ammo!
Try it and it won't be long until you hear: "Saikyo is credit to team!" and such. Girls might even throw their bras at you! (Not kidding!)

The firing delay on the Javelin irritates me every time I use it, takes me about half a Gold Game to really adjust to that. Performance-wise it is right up there with the BW, though I prefer the normal Widow over both for reasons undiscernable. Generally I'm not the sniper type.
The Indra on the other hand really starts to shine once you increase its already good rate of fire through Marksman, Hunter Mode or Devastator Mode. The increased kick can be irritating, but you can easily compensate for that by using either Barrage Upgrade or a Stabilization Module. DarthVolus nailed it by comparing the Indra to the Collector Sniper Rifle in terms of playstyle - those two are pretty interchangeable on kits that benefit from one or the other.

I've converted my Indra to a coat rack.
The Valiant is a fun sniper for casters, I especially like it on non infiltrators.
The Black Widow is a high damage wall hax OHK machine.
Of the three I enjoy the Valiant most because it's quick and steady, though the obvious DPS leader of the 3 is the BW. THE Indra is good for priming mainly, I have a hard time enjoying it regularly.

I have trouble switching between BW and Valiant for obvious reasons (both three shot snipers and I get tangled treating one like the other). Or at least I did, I haven't touched the Valiant in years.
Also lolindra. If it's not Widow/BW/Javelin/CSR, you're usually sniping wrong. Even the Mantis is better than pew pew snipers.

I really the Black Widow as my go to. The valiant just doesn't have the punch I like, though the rof and reload are really good. My Drell Assassin synergizes with the BW so well with a debuff rm out. The indra I don't really touch as the csr takes up that niche and unlimited ammo is nice.

Valiant.
All three are top tier.
Indra needs AP mod + HVB, add IA and you have a killing machine. Just aim for the noggin.
