I watched the second one because I thought he would talk about the ridiculously shitty lighting that Shepard has on them in ME2, compared to squadmates and the surrounding environment that should be lit by the same light sources. A dark skintone Shepard. This is what he looks like outside of cutscenes most of the time, unless I fiddle around to find the precise location and direction he must face in order to actually catch the light: A medium skintone Shepard. Same as above. Ridiculously difficult to get her to catch the light outside of cutscenes. Neither of these Shepards had an issue in ME1. I haven't gotten my male Shepard to ME3 yet, but my Femshep didn't have these extreme lighting issues there either. I wonder if, when they brightened everything else in this game, they just forgot about Shepard.

I think the absence of certain animations' impressively disappointing honestly, a remaster ought to give you no reason to go back to the original, and that's not the case here.

I wonder if, when they brightened everything else in this game, they just forgot about Shepard. It's strange that a light-skinned Shepard is lit just fine... at least in the same location on the Citadel as you show in your picture (I just had to check after seeing this). It's got to be a bug associated with the skin-tone selection.
One thingI have noticed is that the color highlight for Disruptor rounds often appears to look white... so, with a soldier build, I'm continually re=checking to make sure I have the disruptor ammo on rather than the cryo rounds... gets to be annoying after awhile.

Visceral reaction? OOF.
Watch these videos. This is really sad... and disrespectful to the product and the audience. Shaking my head, what a shame.
Edit again: DOUBLE OOF!
What happens with each game is actually compounded. In ME2, not only do you see the flat overly lit images that look like a rookie DP and Gaffer were shooting interviews in every scene, but you also see the removed/degraded facial animation system at work. Twice the pride, double the fall!
I guess I'll watch the third video now, and unless somebody has something to add I'll do a third edit.
Final words: Triple OOF.
Fantastic detail on the Banshee model. Shocking loss of depth of field and shadows on the walls - seeing every glorious new texture was apparently more important than the cinematic effect this entire franchise was built on. God damn.

I have zero desire to go back to the original games for what it's worth. Everything is either 1 to 1 or an improvement.

I have zero desire to go back to the original games for what it's worth. Everything is either 1 to 1 or an improvement. I'm glad it's working out so well for you. For me,the original games simply perform much better than LE on my console. With LE, I'm getting far more combat related bugs and far more frequent CTD's (which almost never happen with my original games). For example, I'm getting very tired of having to "seek out" enemies that have ragdolled and failed to get up and/or who have become "stuck" in unusual and sometimes largely inaccessible locations. I'm tired of having so many sound files that don't trigger "on time"... resulting in the last part of the sentences being "cut off" entirely. The graphical "improvements" in some areas are really debatable and some characters do look downgraded as opposed to having been improved. There are several factors at work, no doubt... such as the quality of my own TV; but I'm still left with the impression that, in this day and age, so much more could have been done and done better to ensure that LE delivered a smoother experience than it actually does.

Yeah asme her atm I can see myself going back to play Pinnacle stationno wand then but tbh given that I can now pla ythe trilogy without having to really think about the galactic readiness and having some really nice graphical touches means the LE is definitely a better version for me in general. Other than the fish bug I've not really had any issues or at least no big ones

It's not one to one though as someone who's reached 100% Achievement Completion it's a significant upgrade to the original Mass Effect in a lot of areas but also a significant downgrade across the entire Trilogy.

Unfortunately this is par for the course with these kind of projects. Between how different the makeup of Bioware 10 years ago and now is and working on "remastering" all three games there's just so many little things lost in translation.

You can't please everyone.
Sure MELE has its faults (lighting/shaders/combat bugs), so let's hope that EA fix these but some people take it too far and sourpuss too hard about it. For years even.
I am not sorry I bought MELE - photo mode has opened up a whole new way to see and feel the game, making each play though even more unique.
-------------------------
dragontartare sorry that the lighting problem is affecting your second MELE Shepard as well Have you tried bringing this up at the EA help forums? The more examples they have the more likely they might cover this in an upcoming patch.

dragontartare sorry that the lighting problem is affecting your second MELE Shepard as well Have you tried bringing this up at the EA help forums? The more examples they have the more likely they might cover this in an upcoming patch. Not yet, but I have the EA forum thread about this pulled up on a browser tab for later. I just want to get screenshot examples that don't have Tali in a mission she isn't supposed to be in (ME2 Horizon), because I figure such obvious evidence of a modded game could just give them excuses to blame something else. I tried the workaround of adding DepthOfField=False to the gamersettings file, which does make Shepard's face visible, but also causes the scene to be completely washed out. Nvidia's filters help to mitigate this, to the point that I'm going to finish the game with the altered settings file, but it would be better to have an official fix for it. Here's where I posted my example pictures, which happened to be on Horizon: bsn.boards.net/post/1484649/thread

I'm not saying you can't or ought not to enjoy it but it's an observable fact facial animation's botched in Mass Effect Legendary Edition and lighting across the board it's not an argument but an observation.

So Kaidan's missing smirk's just in my head? by and large? Yes. The animations in that bid even showing a one to one comparison looked more natural in the LE. A couple of weirder moments not withstanding the youtuber was really stretching it though.

Wow man, what an obnoxious youtuber. Can't stand those condescending texts and that holier than thou attitude. The comparisons themselves are interesting though, I have to admit. Can't say I really noticed it while playing MELE but I wonder why this was changed, especially the facial animations. Maybe some of the newer models and textures didn't quite work with the old animations or maybe they just couldn't get it to look right with the new lighting? Since they worked off the old game directly, they must have consciously removed it for some reason.
Anyway, interesting stuff, awful guy.

I don't have anything to add, except that if I didn't notice these things while playing, then they obviously don't bother me, aside from the ME2 lighting I already mentioned. But yeah, this comment nailed it for me.

That you can't see what I see in the videos confirms my suspicion that all of this is simulation.
Sky is orange, ground is blue, smiles have mouth curled down with teeth bared, chocolate is sand, and Anakin loves sand.
If you paid attention to the animation details, the downgrade is obvious and indisputable. You say hardly, I call bullshit. The proof is literally in the video.
I get that some people were turned off by the attitude, and I did feel it was over the top at times. That said, I agreed with their video and points. BioWare is a shambles, this game is a cash grab, glad sone of you like it because ultimately their success is required in their making more product. My impression from this LE is that the passion is making money, not games. That's why the video author is mad, they are idealist and this continued dumbing down and simplifying everything hurts that person, likely an old fan. Somebody that paid close attention and was bugged by it. Expected more. Anyways, I am not their lawyer.
I hope the sales performance helps the future of this franchise.

Anyway, interesting stuff, awful guy. I've been putting it off to the general performance issues my system is having with LE and the fact that I'm not playing with a monitor that does HD. From what I've seen by watching various streams, I think the animations change depending on what "version" your system is able to run... although I don't know enough about programming to know how this sort of thing is done. What I did notice immediately when I started playing was that, from scene to scene, Ashley's face would change in wierd ways. In some scenes, her eyes were all wrong. In general, mouth movements are also not syncing well with the dialogue even when the sound file doesn't lag way behind... which is often does such that the end of the line gets cut off by the next line of dialogue kicking in.
