The krogan were far worse in ME3 than the Asari. “We won’t give a single bit of help until you give us all our demands.” If the krogan helped they would receive massive casulties and with their low birth numbers they would essentially be dooming their race. Besides can you imagine if wrex or wreav had tried to send the krogan to defend the turians when they didn't have a cure? The krogan would have torn wrex or wreav apart. The salarians holding back the cure at the start was a stupid move. Trying to trick the krogan was bad but at least it made sense. Holding back the cure from the krogan when it meant help wouldn't arrive from the krogan was idiotic. That said I don't believe the asari should burn for what they did. The asari councilor should be forced to step down but I imagine that very very few people knew about the artifact on thessia so you can't blame billions of asari for what let's say a few hundred asari did over millenia. I imagine if the asari at large knew they had a beacon they would have demanded it be shared as they are all about diplomacy. In truth I believe the salarians and the quarians were the idiots of ME3. The salarians for reasons I mentioned and the quarians for starting a war with the geth that forced them to either accept extinction or go to the reapers for help. To top it off the quarian leadership knew the reapers were coming and decided to start the war then anyways. Only cerberus was dumber in ME3 and they had the excuse of being indoctrinated.
Don't get me wrong I like the quarians but that decision was idiotic. Not to mention firing on the geth dreadnought when shepard who was representing the rest of the galaxy was on it. It would have been an inter galactic disaster.
Not helping would also have doomed their race. The moment they got Eve and the cure was being made, the krogan should have helped. But no, they let billions die because “no every krogan needs it first”. I don’t even think Tevos should be removed, since it is very much implied that she didn’t even know of the artifact. Only the top Matriarchs did, and she wasn’t one. Now Ishala or whoever the replacement one is maybe, since she is a Matriarch and her delivery sounded more like someone who knew. Agree that the Salarians and Quarians were just being stupid. Ironically the race most willing to help was the one everyone saw as enemies: the Geth. The only reason they didn’t come help immediately was because the Quarians attacked. Difference between operating on logic instead of emotions I guess.

No the general public is a bloody thirsty mass. Many used to gather to watch witch burnings which was watching someone being slowly burned alive and unlike the movies it took hours for it to end and people loved to watch. It's the same reason countries invade other countries when one person does something wrong. The general public is not the people to ask for punishments. Otherwise humanity would have been destroyed by the turians or at least never let advance since the majority of turians did not like humans and many other races were suspicious of humanity on mass. Without shepard being made a spectre saren would have beaten the council and ME2 and ME3 would never have happened since the reapers would have won. So the general public is not always the smartest thing to put the question too when anger is running high. This has nothing to do with nothing. The asorry ****ed up because they don't care. All they cared about is remaining top dog in the galaxy. Had the reapers never knocked on their backdoor, they would not have revealed the artifact. I know the other species would likely wage war on the asorry for the crap they pulled, if that information was made known to the public. Iif anything the asorry should lose their seat on the council. Have inspection teams sent to Thessia to make sure the asorry are not hiding anything else. I would also threaten to release that information to the press if the asari don't comply. Just because I didn't mention the salarians doesn't mean I'm giving them a pass, right?

Still if the asari lose their seat then shouldn't the salarians and the humans given the damage cerberus did and uldina who was the most powerful human in government helped the them attack the seat of galactic power? I ask again shouldn't they lose their seat too? Yes the asari screwed up but the only way that could have stayed secret for so long would be if only a very very small number of asari knew. So should council space be ruled solely by the turians since they were the only ones who had a legitimate excuse not to fight the reapers on behalf of others since they were already fighting them?

Turians, Krogan and surprisingly Drell I absolutely love their designs, they look amazing Honorary mention to the Kett, because despite them being horrifyingly creepy their design is at least imo. still quite cool

You didn't mention the salarians screwing up and said you sided with them in not curing the genophage. I sided with the salarians to have extra resources to fight the reapers. I don't care if they didn't want to cure the genophage. They didn't withhold an artifact that could have helped with the war effort at an earlier time possibly saving x number of lives. And what was the damage Cerberus did vs what the asari did? In a 24 hour period, the reapers harvest nearly 2 million a day on Earth. How much more each 24 hour period if all homeworlds are included? Just revealing that artifact 24 hours earlier might save millions. I don't have a problem with Udina doing what he did. He just went about the wrong way. He wanted results now. If anything he should have talked with Shepard about his concern at the progress being made. Is there any proof a very small number knew? Ah yes, the turians. Weren't they the same species that planted a very large bomb on Tuchanka?

Weren't they the same species that planted a very large bomb on Tuchanka? I get that you hate the asari but you are seriously downplaying how screwed up other races were. As for how did only a small number know. Well Liara didn't know and she was the shadowbroker. Even if you think she was a crappy shadow broker that knowledge was kept from the other shadowbrokers as well. The asari had that artifact since before they discovered the citadel and over thousands of years noone else found out about it. There is absolutely no way that would be possible unless you keep the amount of people who know about it extremely small. So that is how I KNOW that only a very very small number of asari knew about it. So punish the matriarchs that kept it a secret. I think they should be killed for it. What my point was is that the asari shouldn't "burn" for it.
Uldina helped a fanatical organization attack the seat of galactic power which would also screw up the war effort so humanity should be punished if the asari are. You say you sided with the salarians and that's fine I get that. However the salarians are jeopordizing a deal with the krogans and saying if you don't go behind their backs and risk them finding out you screwed them over, the salarians will withold resources out of spite. Not because they gain from it but just out of spite. So tell me how that is not worth payback? As for the turians then since they put the krogan homeworld at risk then they should be stripped of their council seat as well. Now we have no galactic body governing. So yes the asari screwed up and the people who did keep that secret from the rest of the galaxy during the reaper war should definetly be punished. My point is if you are gonna punish the whole asari species for what a few did then humanity, the salarians, the quarians, the krogan, and now the turians should all be punished. Especially humans since cerberus was made up of thousands of people apparently and got funding from a lot of powerful humans.
So I ask you should they all be punished for the crimes and stupidity that they are guilty of?

I think the morale of the MET is that you can never win, no matter what you decide to do as a spectre. They either hide their secrets to gain an advantage, or only help when it is safe for their own species to do so. The humans are the weirdest of all, because their leaders or the wealthy seek power and generally don't care about the consequences. Besides that, all seem to stick their heads in the sand and deny the reaper threat until it is nearly too late. It also seem that some choices you make, may lead to war after the reaper threat is gone. If you cure the genophage or save the queen, will they walk over the galaxy afterwards? Will the krogan start a war when you don't cure the genophage? Will the leviathans try to dominate the galaxy again? Will the reapers revolt after chosing control? Etc.

What my point was is that the asari shouldn't "burn" for it. What does t'soni have to do with anything? But she's the shadow broker? Yeah. So what? Is that suppose to mean something? Why would anyone trust her after taking armor from a dead body to put on display like it's some kind of prize and fail to inform anyone that Shepard's body is in the hands of Cerberus? Here's why none of the other species will get no punishment for whatever. The turians, humans, salarians, and krogan showed up to the summit. The asari made no effort because it was a waste of their time. The asari withheld the artifact. At the end of ME3, Cerberus has been dealt with, though I like for them to return in ME4, Udina was killed during the coup, and the reapers were destroyed. Nothing will happen to the salarians because the turians got what they wanted. Krogan on the ground to help. Primarch Victus will be on the side of humans because of what Shepard did to get krogan help. The krogan will moan and groan like they always do, but no one will care. The excuse will be because there wasn't sufficient testing, the cure didn't work. The asari will try to come up with some Mickey Mouse excuse about whatever, but will fall on deaf ears. The asari councilor will have no excuse for when asked why her species failed to report they have a prothean artifact when the law was created. It will show they believe they are better than the other species. The worse part of all that for the asari is had they mentioned the artifact when creating the law, the reaper war may not have happened. I'm not saying the asari knew about the reapers, but because of what they failed to do, it cost a lot of lives. What the other species did doesn't compare to what the asari failed to do. Like I said before. I would have them lose their seat on the council. Have teams sent to their homeworld to investigate to make sure they don't have anymore stuff hiding from the galaxy. I would ask the salarians to create a genophage for the asari preventing them from mating with other species. Replace all council members with the Vorcha, Volus, Elcor and Hanar. That would be interesting to see those species in ME4 as the new council.

Krogan. Asari can die in a fire after the shenanigans of ME3. Though I quite like the intellect of the Salarian's too. But no, Krogan for me. The krogan were far worse in ME3 than the Asari. “We won’t give a single bit of help until you give us all our demands.” Not really. The Blue bitches only helped AFTER their home world was dead. Korgan did their best to make sure that didn't happen in the first place.

They then sat on the side-lines until their home-world was in danger. Asari are not warriors. But their own hubris made them believe they could defeat the Reapers. Meanwhile Krogan were smart enough to realise, no species were defeating them alone.

No, they only refused to participate in the talks because it seemed pointless with all the bad blood between the krogan and the others. That describes every race. Even humanity did nothing until Earth was attacked (just ask the batarians). Oh yeah, that must be why they work with the other races long before Thessia is attacked. No, the krogan realized they could use this to get what they want. If you sabotage the cure, Wrex pulls all krogan support from the war. I like the krogan, but they were absolutely worse than the Asari in the war.

No, the krogan realized they could use this to get what they want. If you sabotage the cure, Wrex pulls all krogan support from the war. It proves Wrex is a stupid krogan. What he does is confront Shepard wanting to kill him/her. What a dumba**. If he had any brains, he would hold onto that audio file to use after the reapers are destroyed. He presents that to the council proving his species met their end of the bargain while Shepard did not. That is incorrect. Failing to reveal that artifact earlier might have saved x number of lives. They have the I don't care attitude.

That would be interesting to see those species in ME4 as the new council. Even if Liara was the greatest idiot of all time she was not the only shadow broker. The asari had it for thousands of years and yet none of the other shadowbrokers knew about it. So the asari managed to keep it a secret from everyone INCLUDING THE SHADOWBROKERS BEFORE LIARA. This can only be done if you have a very small number of asari knowing about it. Otherwise others would have known about it and inevitably the shadowbrokers would get word of it. So if the humans and everyone else get a pass because only a small number of people were guilty then so should the asari and only the idiots who knew about it and kept it secret should be punished. However I get it you hate the asari and want them partially sterilized for some reason. It's the only possible reason you could have to think that the asari are responsible for the reaper war which is the dumbest thing I ever heard. If you remember correctly shepard only knew what the reapers were after Tali told him what the geth heretics believed in ME1. Also the asari never had the cypher and thus wouldn't have really been able to make sense of it. It would have been a few people saying the end of the milky way is coming for thousands of years.
But I get it you just hate the asari so much because Liara was pressed on us that altering their very dna against their will is okay to do. I still don't get what that has to do with them hiding the beacon. The genophage was done because the krogan bred so much where as most asari only seem to have children once every century at the most.
Edit I realize now your just trolling so I am going to walk away from this conversation.

Agreed I meannot even Liara didn' teven kno wabout i tand yo ucan see how visually upset she was a tnot being informed even to the point of blaming Javik for it at one point. Even though I agree in tha ti twasn' treally Javik's fault either.

The Vorcha. Why can't I vote for them. Outta the list I'd say the Salarians.

I guess I missed this poll so can't vote. I think Drell. They're interesting.

I really like the Turians. I wish we could've seen Palaven in ME3.

Of the major races, Quarians, Salarians, Batrians, and Geth are my favorites. Not sure if I can pick a favorite.
The minor races stand out; I'd argue more so than at least a few of the major races like the Turians *runs into cover* and Asari, to name the two that really come to mind. The Turians are the least interesting major race in my opinion. The Asari are trope-y, but their lore was elaborated upon in 3 with the Prothean Beacon, and they do have a few things that make them standout, i.e. natural biotics and extremely long lifespans, although these things do fit with the whole 'Mary Sue'/Picture Perfect/High Elf-esque character they're often ascribed. The Prothean Beacon lore reveal in 3 does a bit to undo the superiority narrative. Point is, trope-iness isn't necessarily bad if there are caveats and there isn't too much overlap with other races.

Favorite aliens in Mass Effect?
Rachni, Elcor, Hanar, Thorian, Geth, Volus, and Salarians in that order.
The Rachni and Geth used to be tied for first place but after they went all Pinocchio bot in ME 3 they just became humans wearing metal-face (i.e. boring).
Really it was the Rachni (provided Shepard spared the Queen in ME 1) who not only took the threat of the Reapers seriously but also did the most to prepare for the coming invasion. Writer's fiat notwithstanding its obvious that the Rachni queen was preparing an army judging from the sheer number of Ravagers that saw galactic-wide deployment. Even after this setback though the queen will immediately set out to help the Alliance the moment she is freed from captivity in ME3 with no prerequisite demands of restitutions from the wider galaxy stemming from past injustices (see Krogan).
Speaking of the Krogan, aside from Wrex's selfishly idiotic plan of holding the galaxy hostage to force a cure, I would much prefer Rachni troops to the battletoads. Consider that each Rachni soldier caste is:
• Hatched combat ready with natural weapons & armor on par with modern day equivalents. • Is able to survive in extreme environments without the need of protective equipment, naked as the day they were born, for weeks at a time. • Possess a natural QEC network allowing them to operate with perfect synchronicity even outside supply lines, as well as their innate organization and engineering skills. • Most importantly, are highly resistant too, if not completely immune, to the effects of indoctrination.
I would take a brood warriors swarm over an army of Krogan any day.
And on top of all that the Rachni also have the benefit of being one of the most 'alien' aliens in the entire franchise beyond simple appearances; though that is a bonus as well. It's refreshing having something in the setting that is not just a human wearing a rubber mask but is rather an honest attempt at depicting something that is decidedly other from human norms and perceptions.

We don't even get Rachni soldiers and Brood Warriors as war assets in ME3 FFS. Yeah, ME 3 really relegated the Rachni to a narrative footnote. I mean you can't even get an ending slide for them unless you sabotage the cure and Eve dies; which with how much emotional manipulation BioWare put into the Genophage Arc there's not too many people who got to see that outcome.
