here's the blog post
Joining our Community to Celebrate All Things Dragon Age! December 4, 2021 We are blown away that all of you celebrate Dragon Age Day every year and appreciate everyone that does. Dragon Age Day launched unofficially by fans, for fans, in the Fall of 2018 by Teresa “ImaSithDuh” M, with a small team of founders also including Angela Mitchell, Savvy B., and Alistair SM James, as well as former participants Ghil Dirthalen and Andrastini. We really appreciate the team behind Dragon Age Day for bringing us all together while supporting inclusivity and accessibility with a contribution to Able Gamers charity in the process! This day belongs to you, our awesome community. In that spirit, we want to celebrate with you as fellow fans while spotlighting your unique and imaginative contributions to a world we all love. All-day we’ll be showcasing your amazing original creations on social, dropping new Dragon Age™ merch on Dark Horse Direct, Gaming Heads, and the BioWare Gear Store, as well as giving away plenty of gift cards. Tag your posts on Twitter using #BioWareGiveaway for a chance to win. Apex Legends™ has also gotten in on the fun with a Dragon Age themed Highland Ravager Weapon Charm available to EA Play members to claim anytime between December 2, 2021, and January 4, 2022. Additionally, the Dragon Age Day team will be hosting events including charity rewards on sale from Dragon Age fan artists, 24+ hours of Twitch Livestreams all day today, writing, art & meme prompts and challenges, and videos spotlighting personal insights from the Dragon Age fan community (this year’s question: “Who is your favorite Dragon Age Companion/Character, and Why?). You can also view the full list of activities here. We are continuously amazed by the passionate, diverse, inspiring, and creative community that has come together to join us in the land of Thedas. We are humbled by the ways in which you have expanded and celebrated the world of Dragon Age. From captivating fan fiction, beautiful character art, and cutting-edge cosplay to themed weddings, birthdays, tattoos, and even baby names, the world of Thedas has extended beyond the games and is now its own living breathing place embodied by all of you. We can not thank you all enough for your continued support and love for the franchise. It is what inspires us each and every day to continue to build new worlds, characters, and stories for you to explore. Speaking of building new worlds and stories for you to explore, we want to let you all know that we’re still hard at work on building the next single-player-focused experience for Dragon Age. We’re excited for next year when we can talk more about what we’re working on. Until then, we’ll leave you with two new short stories from the world of Dragon Age! -The Dragon Age Team *CONDITIONS, LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS APPLY. SEE tos.ea.com/legalapp/eaplay/US/en/PC/ FOR DETAILS.
but the link to the 2 short stories is broken currently

So EA Play 2022 then. To be fair i also don´t have any big hopes for that but VGA 2022 well there is a good chance. Without Covid we could have known more about DA 4 already.

I suppose they didn't outright say "we won't be at the Game Awards" the way they did for EA Play this year, but it comes pretty close. I'll still be tuning in anyway, hoping Hogwarts Legacy will be there.

I'm so desperate for news that I'd even take a vague trailer at the TGAs, something I'd swore off and never do to myself again!

True, but that was before the SP reboot and I'm starting to think now that derailed their plans quite a bit. Also Jeff Grubb said earlier this year to expect marketing to really ramp up in 2022 so this lines up with that.

With all the reboots and changes to the game over the course of 5 or 6 years, I fear that is what we are going to get (a game that feels rushed and undeveloped and unpolished).

With all the reboots and changes to the game over the course of 5 or 6 years, I fear that is what we are going to get (a game that feels rushed and undeveloped and unpolished). Since the game has been delayed to be five to six years in development, to me that means they are trying not to have that happen. There is always the risk that a game has those issues, but I think having a release date removes a lot of flexibility in the cycle for potential delays.

Anthem was seven years in development, so a long dev time does not seem to do them much good. Several times, their problem has been that they either didn't know what to do with their game or they tried something that they couldn't make work and then crunched 18 months straight to make sure there was some product to sell come the deadline, and crunch tends to produce delays as the constant strain makes people work less effectively.
I don't know, but the two reboots they had so far (as far as we know...) don't say "there is a clear vision for this game" to me. That doesn't mean that it's certain to be awful in the end, just that products that go through such a hellish dev cycle generally tend to be. But maybe they'll surprise me.

Frankly if you follow these forum no matter how much time BioWare works on a game its not going to be good. Hearing that they have abandoned the project instead of trying to bandage it like Anthem means that they are taking the right steps when they hit a problem instead trying to stem the bleeding they just amputate and start clean. Which is the problem I had with Andromeda and Anthem where they just kept trying to fix the game instead of cutting what wasn't working and either rolling back to a stable point or scrapping that feature until it had wrecked havoc across the entire project.

I don't know, but the two reboots they had so far (as far as we know...) don't say "there is a clear vision for this game" to me. Alternatively there was a clear vision initially but then either it didn't work or someone high up didn't like it, so they began again. This is where losing the Senior Creative Director (twice) is worrying because they are meant to be the one supplying the overall vision for the project. The first time the Senior Creative Director left was around the time of the first reboot, so it would seem that was why they left, because their original vision was being abandoned and they didn't believe in the replacement vision. Then the person appointed to replace them decides to leave some 3 years later but the management are confident that their vision can still be realised. Again, that suggests that there was a difference of opinion over the "vision" and the Senior Creative Director found their position untenable. Of course, this is pure speculation and the "mutual decision" may have had nothing to do with the vision for the game but something unrelated to it. In which case, the management's confidence in still being able to maintain the vision is probably justified, particularly if they are a fair way towards realising the final product and the rest of the creative team have been working to that vision for some time.

Alternatively the creative vision for the next Dragon Age game was following both Andromeda and Anthem and EA was concerned that Dragon Age was headed for the same cliff. Its all speculation and people are just showing concern because they think EA must be at fault, but it could be that EA is trying to dig BioWare out of the hole they put themselves into.

Let's examine those two reboots though shall we?
Reboot one was to turn the game from a relatively small sounding game centered on heists ( think grand theft dragon) into a game which sounds much more in keeping with what we have seen from Dragon Age. Then of course Anthem happened which also led to them essentially stopping work from the sounds of it.
Reboot 2 comes from a media leak which basically just parroted everything that bioware has been telling us and continue to tell us for years. That it will be Singleplayer game typical of what has come before and all the 'reboot' was them dropping mp and maybe ls elements.
Either way the games direction has been clear, broad strokes wise, for years.

Reboot one was to turn the game from a relatively small sounding game centered on heists ( think grand theft dragon) into a game which sounds much more in keeping with what we have seen from Dragon Age. I must admit I always thought that sounded odd if they were switching from single-player focused to multi-player focused, because having a series of heists seemed far more in keeping with multi-player. Also, I struggled to fathom how engaging in a series of heists was relevant to neutralising the threat from Solas, unless it was to gain items he wanted or items to use against him. So to some extent you could be right and the second reboot was simply reverting the game to what it was originally intended to be and maybe some of the previous work done before the first reboot could be salvage and used once more. Its all speculation and people are just showing concern because they think EA must be at fault, but it could be that EA is trying to dig BioWare out of the hole they put themselves into. When I talk about management it could be those at the top at Bioware making decisions, or in conjunction with those at EA. From what I could tell of the recent departure, the management involved were both at Bioware and EA and were jointly expressing their confidence in the team working on the game.
