Yes, it is odd that they say they hinted at his return in 2018, when the teaser trailer of 2020 actually said he would be an enemy, along with demons, dragons and darkspawn. So should we discount the 2020 trailer?

I do think the TGA 2020 trailer was possibly made before the alleged shift to SP, so it’s possible that many things could’ve changed since then. The way they’re ‘revealing’ Solas is a bit weird, to me.

I mantain my opinion that said trailer and the concept art show before something gave me a coop/mp focused game vibe, but it’s just my opinion, based on my fears at the time.

I have expected they'll go with Dragon 4ge.

Joking aside, looking the "Dragon Age" title, you can see cracks that will glow light blue which reminded me of Lyrium for some reason.

I do wonder what the purple color scheme could represent though. Guess we'll find out soon.

I don't see a big issue with that. DAO had the Blight alongside the Fereldan Civil War, plus a plethora of main quests unrelated to either. It's quite possible for the Qunari-Tevinter struggle to have a big role in the game.

There are various meanings ascribed to the colour purple. When used in the sense of spirituality, it symbolises a place of balance between the passion of red and the serenity of blue, thus leading to wisdom, or in Solas' case possibly returning to a state of wisdom that he enjoyed before being summoned (by Mythal?) to engage in worldly affairs. Some people think that Cole alludes to this in one of his monologues.

In game, purple is associated with spiritual magic and the attack of the Arch-demon which deals spiritual damage. In Last Flight when Issaya uses spirit magic it results in violet energy. In DAO when the Arch-demon attacks us, it breathes purple flames that cause spirit damage. Normal spirit magic comes from the Fade but it is stated in Last Flight that the source of the Arch-demon's power is somewhere else. In the novel it seems to be of a darker hue than regular spirit magic but it is still essentially purple. So the purple could just be because of Solas' strong associations with the spirit world and his understanding of spirit magic or it could hint at him tapping into a darker and more dangerous source of power, the idol perhaps?

I mean that's the other thing that has me worried that they will go full Infinity War...

I forgot that the Sentinels in Solas Sanctuary were purple. I think necromancer wisps and spirit summons were purple in color too.

Blue = Lyrium
Red = Red Lyrium

Purple is definitely associated with spirit magic. However, bearing in mind the colours associated with lyrium and red lyrium, if you combined the two you would end up with purple lyrium. I suppose there could be something in that.
