Doesn't necessarily have to represent your opinions on objective quality, just your personal favorite

I voted Mass Effect 2 but I would include the entire trilogy as my favorite BW game. I think of them as one body of work.

So close, may just depend on my mood. But... 1) Mass Effect (extra points for the original, and it has the best, most complete, story of the three) 2) KOTOR (similar reasons, for a different franchise). This kicked off my love affair for BW games. 3) DA:O (because ... well ... notice a trend?) 4) Mass Effect 3 (yes, I prefer 3 to 2, even with the LOUSY ending. But TBH, ME2's Giant Human Reaper was laughable, so not a great selling point). So many complain about lack of closure. I take the entire game to be a sequential series of closures. 5) Mass Effect 2 (mostly for the loyalty mission stories)
For reference, I aslo played KOTOR2, SWTOR, DA2, Anthem. I have most of the few others but haven't worked up the motivation to give them a full play.

Very much a tie in with MEA/ME1 & DAI. But ... Scifi wins by default over fantasy in my case

The Mass Effect Trilogy is my favorite series BioWare has done. Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 are close behind. As well as the game that got me into Star Wars the original KOTOR.

What, no Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood?
Since I'm picking just one game I chose BG2, but Dragon Age is my favourite series.

That's easy... Dragon Age series, followed by Mass Effect series, and SW:TOR and I'm also including Neverwinter Nights 2 despite it having been made by Obsidian

Since Kotor 2 was an Obsidian game, I enjoyed ME3 for the multiplayer and its Geth arc with Legion. Still beats anything Co-op related made today.

Mass Effect series def tops the list for me. Though Kotor was def the game that got me into Bioware games and really companion/party based RPGs in general. I also probably have way more time in SWTOR then I'd like to admit replaying some of the original class quests.

I'd only add that DAO also played a follow-on role in my "education" of party-based mechanics, including the "Holy Trinity". When I first saw the "threat" skill tree option, I was like "why the heck would I want that?? Which helped me get acclimated to the subsequent (too many hours of) SWTOR.

You can tell this poll is not representative because ME2 isn't far ahead in the lead—I voted DA:O myself, incidentally.

I consider it the worst of the trilogy, I greatly prefer ME1 and ME3 (notwithstanding the mess with the ending) to ME2 Obviously this is all a matter of personal taste. And I agree with previous that ME2 appears to be the "consensus" top of the three, but ... I agree with you. I put it third.
Parts that are great (IMHO):
The loyalty stories (almost all) The Suicide Mission (until the ridiculous end boss) Most of the new squadmates introduced, And of course, Tali/Garrus!
The gut punch you get towards the end if you delay your "Suicide mission"
Mordin, Mordin, Mordin. I want More-din! The much-improved game mechanics (but refined, so better, in ME3)
Parts that work less well: The ridiculous end boss The whole hurry up, but ... let's do a bunch of side missions first ... and then they pull the rug out from under you if you choose to do those side missions post-Legion (yeah, to great effect, but really) RPG elements too simplified
Conversations with Jacob (WTF?) Conversation with Ash/Kaidan
"The Illusive Man" (just the silly name!) Planet scanning (you guys remember before they increased the scan radius?) And finally: the story is just so small after the first one (until the end boss rationale, but again, that was so silly)

KotOR I wouldn't be here if not for that game. KotOR introduced me to BioWare. BioWare introduced me to game modding and in particular, "scripting" code into the game, which was something I could grasp. This introduced me to gaming forums, which were the BBS replacement I had been looking for. This was the golden era, I was a very nice person online because we were all on the same page and arguments occurred only at a high level and resulted in everyone learning, and no bruised egos to speak of. ME3MP/DAIMP killed all of that. Killed the forums. Because ego. I was, sadly, not better than this myself. Peer pressure is a funny thing, even digital peers make pressure if you let them, and gosh everyone wants to be cool. KotOR. Easy to discern good vs evil, simplicity, some real choice and consequence. If it was what have I played most, that is easily Mass Effect series, and of that ME3MP a few thousand hours too many. But that wasn't the question

DAO but Kotor is a close 2nd. It was my favorite game prior to playing DAO. After that it gets more difficult but maybe ME2.

Probably, I dunno now. A coworker recently replayed 1&2 in the LE before playing 3 for the first time in LE version. He liked 1, then 3 then 2 in last because he thought the ending of 2 was goofy. He thought overall it was a great experience. That's my order too, for my own set of reasons but I found it an interesting anecdote.

That's my order too, for my own set of reasons but I found it an interesting anecdote. Yeah. ME2 is the game I most frequently see cited as Bioware's best outside these forums, both by the average gamer and gaming publications. It makes sense, too: Mass Effect is undoubtedly Bioware's most popular franchise— Baldur's Gate, N everwinter Nights, and KotOR are too old and out of their hands; no one remembers Jade Empire; and Dragon Age is too dorky and relatively old school for the AAA scene—, and ME2 specifically is more of an action game than ME1 while lacking the controversy around ME3 and ME:A. All three of the original ME games have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I'd probably consider ME1 the best game in the trilogy, as it is a better RPG than the sequels, has a stronger plot, and a more thoughtful tone. And ME3 is the most inconsistent of the trio, swinging wildly between some of the finest moments in the franchise and utter dumbassery. I actually think it handles companions the best, and that ME2 is overrated in that regard. The latter's virtue is in being the most stylish. I believe Blade Runner was an influence, in aesthetics if not themes. So yeah, I'd agree with ME1 > ME3 > ME2. But like I said, DA:O is actually my favorite Bioware game. Too bad the sequels are among their weakest.

I have to admit, I agree with basically everything you have listed here. As also other has said, my personal ranking is ME1 - ME3 - ME2. About other BioWare games I also loved KOTOR, even if I then never played KOTOR2, and Jade Empire, but my preferred IP is ME and, within them, ME1 is number one for me, even better now with the LE. I have to say, I also liked MEA overall

DA Origins would be my overall favorite.
The Mass Effect series is a little muddier for me. ME3 just edges out ME2 as the frontrunner (despite the ending), elevated by some good DLC (Citadel), and favorite gameplay style (Vanguard!).
