So here I was thinking Alpha had STARTED until someone pointed out to me my error, that it's COMPLETED!
Even more exciting! Even more hype.
I can't wait to see skill trees, companions, romance options, gameplay.

We're not in Beta stage of development.

Saying they finished their Alpha milestone means their alpha build is feature complete so the "Alpha stage" is done now and they are moving to beta if they still use the old terms.

Yeah, it's possible they evaluate the milestones differently to what it used to be. There was no mention when Alpha began, hence why I thought it had begun. Several people are saying it ended. Maybe it's just a middle term now?

I have such a good feeling about this game. We've come a long way. I'm really curious what they've been working on all this time. And we may hear about it very soon!

Maybe it's just a middle term now? Personally I try to focus on what the state of the game is rather than the terms. It seems like different studios/publishers use somewhat different definitions so it can get confusing. From what the blog and Mark Darrah said, we know that the game should be “complete”. All the planned locations, systems, and sequences are there. However, some of them are still placeholders and very little of it is in a finalized state. I honestly don’t know if the process of finalizing all this content and testing it is “Alpha”, then I guess “Beta” would be testing and bug fixing a much more finalized version. Or if we’re in Beta.

I was musing on this very concept the other day on my own. Given its dev history I thin they have finally gotten it right and are in a great place game wise. Still have concerns but a lot of that will be answered with marketing.

(If the game releases on the 25th of October next year, we'll know I actually have psychic powers.) [/div][/quote] This forum needs a RemindMe bot.

Horror? I wouldn't say so. The marketing for this game is curious, is all. I'm glad they're making good progress. I for one do not want to ever again see hype machine marketing like we saw with ME3.
DAI and MEA marketing way better, especially MEA where they focused strong marketing like few months before release, instead of year long hype train.
There also a lot complaining about the marketing of MEA focusing mostly on "behind the scenes" videos which basically means "We're making this game." and "We are still making the game." with a few cinematic trailers that had nothing and/or very little to go with the game in any way. When it got to about 6 months before the launch was when started releasing the gameplay and story trailers from the final game. I still think that some in marketing department of BioWare are still envious of how Bethesda rolled out Fallout 4 they did an announcement trailer and pretty much just worked on the game and then release a trailer with the release date and pre-order now and everyone was "Cool! I had forgotten all about Fallout 4 and now I have to pre-order it!"

Honestly that is a feature for me and not a bug.

I go after what they tell and not the terms. They said the game is coming together and is now ready to play. what happens at the beginning of alpha if i understand correctly. He can explain it better than me.

Alpha finished means the design is done and raw prototype is up. Now begins the phase when they start chopping of the bits that dont work.
