So, without going into the reasons that it is imploding, I think we can all agree that there's definitely a "last days of the Roman Empire" vibe right now on the platform, and a lot of users are immigrating to other social media platforms.
This unofficial forum was borne out of the demise of the BioWare Social Network. Now that Twitter is circling the drain, do you think there's a case to be made for BioWare and the BioWare Gear Store making official announcements on this forum?
We already have Twitter threads where we re-share their official tweets ad verbatim. Why not give BioWare and the BioWare Gear Store the sole power to post news/merchandise announcements in those threads? We could still talk about those announcements in the Schmooples Thread and the Pyjack’s Den while spinning out certain discussions into individual threads as needed.
Now granted, there's not a huge amount of users here, but if this was the place where BioWare was making the kind of announcements they'd usually share on Twitter, traffic would go up. (Mind you, that would also mean more work for our unpaid moderators, poor bastards.)
Is this something we could pitch to the BioWare community manager?

Why not.
I doubt that BioWare would do anything here without full control of administration and moderation, but it never hurts to ask and make a kind offer.

Only when the mods here ban any Bioware employees as soon as they sign up, unless they apologize publicly for the moderators of the original BSN.

Only when the mods here ban any Bioware employees as soon as they sign up, unless they apologize publicly for the moderators of the original BSN. We already have Bioware employees but they mostly lurk and those that don't are cool. HOWEVER. I absolutely do not want this forum to have any official connection to Bioware as a company. We deserve better than that, frankly. Overall though I think it's a moot point. If Twitter tanks Bioware/EA will probably just reinvest in something like Discord. Or Facebook. Do people still use Facebook? I also give it like 3 to 6 months max before some Silicon Valley type launches a Twitter 2 that's basically the same platform sans Musk.

I tend to agree with Fredward- what would be gained by connecting this forum to BW in an official capacity at this point, especially since, as Gileadan notes, they would almost certainly want to take over and run the administration and moderation functions themselves?
This forum has taken over as the de facto BW social network, and the people running the site have done a better job than BW did back on the old forum, so if it ain't broke why fix it?

While it was more than 6 years ago, I remember the end of 'Official BSN' so well. bsn.boards.net/thread/530/bioware-forum-closed-blep-mlemSome devs are members here (and are very welcome). I expect them to mainly lurk. NDA's are tough. If Twitter falls over, I'd expect BioWare marketing will go to a variety of sites to make announcements.

To be clear, I wasn’t calling for BioWare to take over moderation of this forum. I suggested they get two dedicated threads in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect sub-forums for official announcements and advertising merch, but they would have no power over the rest of it.
But I guess they can just move that shit over to Mastodon if Twitter finally implodes.

It wouldn't happen for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that ProBoards reserves the right to deactivate a forum at any time. I believe a move won't ultimately be necessary, but should the company decide to make some kind of adjustment, I expect they would do something similar to Funcom or what some of EA's other studios have already done, and migrate to a subforum on reddit with employees serving as moderators (this is "mildly controversial" owing to it technically being a violation of reddit policies, but has become an accepted practice regardless.) If I put myself in their shoes, I slot that in as a backup plan, have a community-related employee set something up with private privileges (not unlike what we did with one of the versions of The Shelter) and have it ready to go in case of a future decision. Then I would pretty much carry on as usual unless the situation compelled a change. What may seem to be chaos and madness in some areas of Twitter contrast with the relative calm in other areas. If things are business as usual for their sphere (I wouldn't know if that's the case as I barely use twitter) I wouldn't make risky changes prematurely. But I'm saying it now so that it's a matter of record: If they go back to moderating a website of their own as an alternative... I will LAUGH FOR DAYS (Then I'll sign up, because you know I will. Someone has to keep an eye out - I've seen some of you eyeing France and thinking, "We could take it... and found our own kingdom!")

Of course EA still has it's own support site, though bizarrely it's not the go-to for announcements (even if those announcements usually pop up there afterwards). answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age/ct-p/dragon-ageBioWare's twitter remains firmly in place. Though some devs have made very personal declarations of moving site with both Mastadon and Hive Social being destinations.

To be clear, I wasn’t calling for BioWare to take over moderation of this forum. Sure, I was just saying that I think BW would would demand administration/moderation powers if they were going to be involved in an official capacity. Its not even that unreasonable a demand, from their perspective, I just don't think it would be a change for the better since, all the nostalgia for the old forum aside, this site's staff has done a much better job running this forum than BW ever did with the old one (imo, at any rate).

I'm not sure if they are brave enough to be in such close contact with the fandom.
Besides, they use their accounts for other things other than talking about Dragon Age.
