It's been awhile since 2012, over 10 years. How we view certain things in ME3mp may have changed too. Will start with some things I've noticed since coming back to ME3mp for quite afew sessions (almost doubled my challenge points on PC since coming back) after all these years.
- I used to dislike the Reapers on Gold, but now it's one of my favourite factions. Overtaking Collectors as my favourite faction to second place (third is Geth and last is Phantoms, er, I mean Cerberus). - I used to dislike Giant map due to it being overplayed for camp farming. But now since camp farming is a thing of the past, Giant is quite a fave map of mine. Overall I've always favoured the original maps over DLC maps (so the hazard varients is a plus as they allow more of the old maps to appear in UUG), outside some very strong DLC favourites (Condor and Godess maps are some of my favourites). - I now enjoy Jade as a DLC map very much. - Noticed folks don't hang around much in control room of Hydra anymore, making running around the map more possible since teammates are spread out better on this map. Now I'm the one hanging around more then others. - Seems some understanding of game mechanics are lost on newer players. ie. On gold I see lots of no phasic ammo on powerful single shot SR such as Black Widow and such. - Meta builds/setups seem to be a thing of the past too for the most part. - I've learned that the last shot of Krysae SR does not break tactical cloke. So still new things to learn. - The way I used to spec some character in the past surprise me now, having better understanding now on some things. ie. I didn't use to pick radius for Shield Boost, thinking mostly of myself and not teammates. - I'm better at managing playing for Challenge Points now. To the point that some characters are more weapon focused to get more use out of them (ie. Playing Collector Adept as a tanky weapon platform makes this kit and others more enjoyable now. Plus I can still play him with powers too, since those challenges still need to get done too, but they get done way sooner and if it weren't for playing them more as weapon platforms, they'd sit on the bench too much. As weapons challenge points are always up and ready for any kit). - I do not get upset with what folks play as and such anymore. Want to be a flamer spammer, go right ahead. Want to use reeger AIU on Gold, go ahead. Want to nuke spawns, go ahead. As a bonus this way I don't condem myself either when I need to do flamer & reeger challenge points or if I need to nuke spawns for killstreaks EXP bonus if I happen want and need exta EXP points. Just do what you enjoy and have a great time. - This game is still really great after all these years and am noticing more how well things came together (ie. N7 score encourages playing lower difficulty levels after promotions even after full manifest to help player numbers there, which encourage newcomers to stick with game due to earier entree difficulty player base still being healthy). - I've noticed on Condor map with new headset, particularly when playing the more quiet Geth faction and in more quiet early waves, that it has an ME1 offworld ambient sounds vibe. Giving me a new appreciation for Condor map, as it takes me back to ME1 offworlding. - My fave DLC challenge points to get done are Ressurgence. Playing as Batarians, Geth, Krogan Vanguard and Justicar are great times.

'How have your views or understanding of ME3mp changed over the years?' ... Lag. Lag never changes. I'm pretty much the same as I always was. Run around. Shoot stuff. Boom stuff. Revive myself faster than my brain can comprehend. Try and make it to wave 11. PS, apart from old age, lag really is the only major spoiler.

Well, being social with the online community for this game has taught me a lot of different bugs, mechanics and also made me aware of jank.
How do I feel about this? Meh.... I miss the days where I was ignorant and played with whatever felt good. Didn't have to think too hard. I don't so much now but I do often read and hear comments about building wrong because I'm missing out on a couple hundred damage. Doesn't matter to me, I play gold mostly and the "sub-optimal" spec kills just fine.
I've come to another understanding that ME3 is an old man with dementia. Game seems to get jankier and jankier. It's sad. I don't remember all these crashes, input delay, overlay issues and certain lag-related bugs happening when I used to play this game non-stop from 2013-15. Though this issue has been discussed on a different topic (think a mix of hardware, drivers and O/S updates are the big issues)

I used to hate geth and Cerberus. Now I really really fucking hate them. I loathe them with an unbridled passion and hearing their screams and squeals and suffering causes me great physical and emotional pleasure.
I used to abomb tbag and leave for dead geth/lamer/snap cheese teammates at every opportunity. I no longer do this. We need all the help we can get Holding the Line at this juncture over a decade from where we began. Of course I would always prefer glorious quarian pugs, but all are welcome as long as you are a team player (I.e. not missiling spawns during a hack or some stupidshit).

You were, are and will forever remain nothing but a filthy suit rat.
And yet... the games with you and Grunt were some of the most fun I've ever had. You taught me, by example, that quarians can be a fun and powerful race. Its been some time since I've played, so my memory is a little foggy. But I've learned to put both quarian engineers to good use. Sure, never quite as well as you did, that would have been a tall order. I've never quite mastered the infiltrator and marksman, but I put that down to my ineptitude more than anything else.
So yeah... thank you. I still like asari and turians(especially them fat ones) more, but if it weren't for you, I would be forever sure qurians are bad.
I am glad you've changed my mind and that, however inadequately, I got to play some proper suit rats
Stay safe out there, my friend. The galaxy needs you.

Definitely miss the good old days of getting carried by you & Grunt! (Usually after I ran out of opspacks, gels and missiles on w1). I don’t mind current PUGland but nothing will compare to how much fun I had Holding the Line with my unlikely krogan and Council race frends. The Reapers truly did have a way of bring everyone together keelah se’lai, same to you, hope all is well!

This is the way. As a cute little babby pug you think geth are EZ mode because they are slow and can’t grab you. You play from lolhardcover where you get stagger resistance, so most of their instruments of torture do not affect you. It’s only when you become a more aggressive scurb that you discover the hatred for triple primes, triple rocket BS, bomber trolling, dead hunter still stunning you etc. I hate them, but will admit Cerberus is moar BS. Cerberus is at least fun and fast to pop melons if you get it right tho. Scumbag primes are just, there, forever. Can’t even cleveruseofgamemechanics them to death with pen distance. Armored compartments is practically required, and not enough, should be at least 3 rockets for every prime spawn (one for the actual spawn and 2 to rage fire into nearby toasters after you ragegel). Tl;dr just play Collectors or Reapers and actually have fun.

My favourite enemy unit is here-goons.Seriously,they are aggressive, expensive for the budget and easy to kill My least favourite faction is trolls.Crabs bullshits, swarms and cheap units.Geth are in the second position.

Geth is by FAR the worst, least fun enemy to play against imo, but 'becasue no sync killer' tons of people set lobbies to geth.......barf!
I used to think collectors were most over powered but not at all now.

I think there's just a few wrong things I argued for but got over, mostly just changing my taste (Collectors are fun!) and learning how things work. These day,s I don't thing pugs are wrong about everything, us theorycels can learn quite a bit from people who try to figure out the game on their own. A fresh perspective. E.g.: Harrier TGI really works.

Couple things have revolved for me.
Puggernauts: ↓ Good ↓ Bad ↓ Good again
Volus: ↓ Yay Pocket Healers ↓ Boo Pocket Healears, Yay Tiny Invincible Bubble or Tiny Double-cloaking Dmg Ball ↓ Back to Pocket Healing ('Cause it's fun) and enjoying being Pocket Healed despite the reload bug
RHA: ↓ Wut dis? ↓ RHA all day erry day. ↓ RHA is boring run at the things. Make them know fear.

I m too lazy (and bored by the last (2?) year me3 gaming experience) to really try. But at least, after so many years of 10 stupid expected waves, it still amazing there s room for fun, and even discovering stuff. Time to move on though.

Just noticed the ambient sounds of the wind on Giant map reminds me of exploring caves in Skyrim. Very similar sound.
To more easily notice it, solo early waves of Giant with Geth faction.

And yet... the games with you and Grunt were some of the most fun I've ever had. Same here. In those days I was usually stoned off my gourd and when we rolled the Geth I was almost in tears laughing at the rage-gels, whistling missiles, occasional departures to get more missiles, and incomparable killing machine efficiency of our favourite suit rat, especially when she was tooled up as the Quarian Marksman - a kit I could never get the hang of at all. Very gracious of quarianmasterrace to say she was ever being carried by us, given the only time I remember being last player standing I didn't stay standing for very long. Still, I think you'd already fallen into a drunken sleep by that stage. Generally though I know we made a pretty powerful trio - my favourite squad with you guys was Krogan Sentinel, Quarian Female Engineer and Asari Adept. The role-playing crossover from SP was strong. Good times. I've only played one game in the last year. A GiP on Reactor without a full squad against the bastard feckin Geth. Wiped on wave 5 and my console was switched off before even making it back to the lobby. I've never hated Cerberus as much as the Geth, partly as I almost never host so the Phantom BS is greatly reduced. I've never tired of playing Reapers, and still get a thrill running into Collectors because of years of PS3 jeopardy. I was still religiously nuking double Praetorians on my Xbox account when I last played. It's been nice reading the posts here - still one of the friendliest forums I've ever been a part of. It's funny when you think of the more general reputation that Mass Effect players have for being borderline psychotic after that whole ME3 ending thing. It's also funny looking back to remember how horrified I was at Bioware for introducing the MP component in the first place, and forcing it on us. 4000+ hours of play later I can only really shrug my shoulders and admit I was completely wrong. FOR TUCHANKAAAAAA!!!

I remember getting indignant hearing there'd be an MP component to SP too. Watched a buddy play the demo and thought something along the lines of, "well I'll never bother with that..."
Anyways... This place has experience with the game that's best in class. Nightslasher and TTT's vids are instructional wonders on how to gitgud. Back when I finished BotB but hadn't maxed my manifest I wanted to get "plat-worthy" on every kit. Those vids helped a lot. Discussion here in general was great. The Resource Library, particularly all the reminders of which bugs persist, is a fucking blessing and Dragonracer is a saint. (lol when she got banned on the old boards. I'm laughing now but damn.) That and this place is an exodus. The night Cyonan set this up was quite celebratory. Lots of invites and friend requests and whatnot. I think that kinda stuck. Diaspora. I know when I see a BSNer show up I gotta put on a show. And that I'm getting outscored. But it's always good times.

Dragonracer is a saint. (lol when she got banned on the old boards. I'm laughing now but damn.) I'm laughing now too but I remember I went ballistic to the extent that I got my one and only warning on the old forum. She was among my friends on PS3 and it's one of my biggest regrets that I never managed a game with her (or TTT for that matter). Everything else you say is absolutely true, especially regarding the educational videos, but I feel obliged to give a shout out to Xcal for his Tech Armor video - to this day it's probably my favourite gameplay video, also with the legendary comment - You see your boss entering in your room while you are watching ME3 videos on Youtube? TECH ARMOR!

You see your boss entering in your room while you are watching ME3 videos on Youtube? TECH ARMOR!*snip* Spirits I wish I could roll like that. Good times, haven't seen this in a while. Rewatching it. The fact he hasn't fired a shot, states it even, then still runs to the ammo box between waves, I feel that...

I used to dislike collectors in the beginning. But having played a lot, I really enjoy them. As I played more gold + plat, I've realized that Cerberus is horrible by design, especially cerberus platinum. For a faction with so many enemies, it is just phantom/goon spam with no variety. Just blah! I love melee gameplay now. I have come to appreciate how much variety there is in melee attacks, despite it being generally inferior to guns/power in terms of effectiveness. I think ~30% of games I play now are melee. I've come to the conclusion that grabs are the best thing about ME3MP. I used to think they were a gimmick, now it's the first item in the combat mastery I complete - before headshots and grenade usage. 61 combat masteries make perfect sense

I've come to the conclusion that grabs are the best thing about ME3MP. Yep, Yep, Yep. Can't believe they removed this in MEA!
