Baldur's Gate III - Non Spoiler Edition

Just one quick tip this morning...

While I haven't tried the other Resistance potions yet, I noticed the Potion of Fire Resistance appears to be a Potion of Fire Immunity. I haven't tested in all cases yet, but... worth keeping in the back of your mind.

There are at least a couple of places where that'll be handy.

Aye. It seems the spiritual successor to the spiritual successor of Baldurs Gate is Baldurs Gate.

I had crashes before the hotfix, but none since. Using Steam/Vulkan

Brand new 4090 using DX11. :/ The launcher was really finicky today and it took ages to even react and start the game. I don't even understand why this game has it's own launcher. It's really annoying.

I'll give it another go after dinner. If it still crashes I need to investigate.

Nooo, I'm only like 12h into the game. I haven't even uncovered the whole map yet. I have only 4 companions.

Now I remember I had two hard freezes on the weekend where I needed to power down the computer manually. That hasn't happened it ages. Lots of people on the internet with crashes with newer powerful cards. So it's not just me. But that's not really comforting. I have a 60hz monitor, so I don't have more than 60fps. I never played EA. Would I still need to delete my profile?
I save A LOT. Might have to delete some saves...

Edit: Aaand I have to confirm gamma and nudity again and tutorials are all new again. What is that???

This may be unhelpful - since so many factors can/will make everyone's situation potentially different - but I have read about some people having similar issues with high end GPU's due to the latest driver updates. Worse case scenario, you could try rolling back to an older driver.

I have had so many bad new driver installs, that I wait a disgusting amount of time, before I update drivers (I do have a older nvidia than you: 1080 FTW). Then I read up on what newer drivers are the most stable/consistent, and only then will I update. I just ignore the launcher telling me to update my drivers, and move on. Only one crash in EA (related to deleting cloud saves in-game), and no crashes since starting the full release (have about 20 hours so far).

I'm only at 2.5 hours of actual gameplay! The pain of co-op MP is that it's just like regular D&D; scheduling play sessions is the hardest part! 

I'm working through my current BG1 playthrough to pass the time. It's kind of wild how much D&D has changed between 2nd and 5th editions. Characters don't even level up at the same time! When my MP group reached Level 2, we all had to double check to see if everyone leveled up or not. 

I feel the same way as well.  The funny thing is I own both Divinity Original Sin games and never could get into them like this game.

For anyone playing low-Dex (10 or less) characters, and with Karmic Dice off, keep an eye on where you land in initiative.

I just want to make sure Larian isn't still cooking the numbers in the background.

I swear that the dice hate Gale. He keeps rolling natural 1s in a row and failing even 95% cantrips. The guy is useless for me overall. I keep his big hitters for "real fights", but my Monk, Lae'zel and Karlach are stomping through everything, even without Shadowheart's support. And in the rare cases where things get a tad dicey, Gale misses his shots...

Fun fact - I just noticed he never got Magic Missile. We are level 8. I either buy scrolls or give him everything we find as loot, so I assumed one of those was MM. Apparently not.

I am surprised that Astarion is actually a very dangerous SoB. His stealth and Sneak attacks are brutal. And he dodges like everything.

Maybe I am just too melee oriented and it skews my perception.
