melbella, I hadn't even noticed that Burning Shores added an Arena Challenge. I guess I'd better check it out next time. I can imagine the aggravating scenarios they could create with Bileguts, Waterwings, and Stingspawns. Does anyone else remember "waterwings" as flotation devices for kids? They were inflatable toruses worn around the arm. Every time I say or write the machine name, I hesitate, thinking I've messed it up and pulled this word from the 80s.

Luckily there were no Stingspawn in the round with Bileguts. Those things were mucho annoying in the Cauldron!
Finished the Machine Strike set with the first player in Chainscrape and found the second one in Barren Light. Only did one game with him to get the achievement. Sparky the Clawstrider for the win!
dazk Found Talana there finally and said good-bye until next time. Also talked with Conover again, back in uniform after being exonerated.

So as I thought I didn't get much time but thanks to Kotallo got the damn Blood Choke quest. It caused me no end of problems last time and yet again it did today. The game forces you to climb a cliff to get there, fine but this just accentuated that climbing sucks in HZD FW as opposed to HZD where I do not believe I ever had an issue. So do the multitude of climbing and get to the last hold where Aloy just needs to climb up the cliff, no hand holds no nothing she just needs to get up it. I tried everything possible with no luck so I move down and Atteka just goes straight up the same spot without an issue. Nothing I did, Spacebar, CTRL, WA, WD, W would work, so I drop down and fast travel to a fireplace to run to it. Nope it's gated on all sides, so I eventually call the Sunwing to drop me in there but no an invisible dome bounces me off. Fortunately Aloy manages to land on a fence and is able to jump into the fray. Over twenty minutes of wasted F5cking time!!!!!! Thus end Eth the rant, more tomorrow re the other stuff I occupied my time with in the game. Don't mind me just hanging here for eternity and yes, I tried getting off the x on the left as well.

That really sucks. It's almost definitely a PC port and/or KBM issue. I've never had that happen on PS5. That would be infuriating.
You can clear that area early, if you wish, and drop in from above. I did so last time. When we arrived, there were no rebels and no fireclaw. It won't save you the climb at least once, I guess, but there won't be guys trying to kill you while you're stuck.

Had the same problem in the exact same place, on PC with controller.
A couple of other times it was a bit finicky, but that was the only one I remember where it just refused to work. Think I managed the last bit Bethesda style in the end.
Also a few places there were ledges that you can grab hold of ledges that aren’t highlighted. Wasted a bit of time looking for routes and not realising I could just jump straight up.

Wasted a bit of time looking for routes and not realising I could just jump straight up. LOL "Betheda" style, do you mean bunny hopping? I do that quite a lot, it's amazing where you can get to doing that. I have found the climbing experience in FW to be far worse all round in FW. The general climbing for me can also be infuriating, in HZD you could hold "W" most of the time and Aloy would just find the most direct path up. In FW she tends to find the most ridiculous path often going sideways when she only has to take one more straight up to get to the top. Often, she will get to the top and any rock climber would just go straight up as there is a hands length to the top. Aloy often wants to handrail across to one side multiple times then climb up where the distance is often greater in my experience. She'll also bounce one side to the other and even go down when you are telling her to go up for no reason or go up when you tell her down. In the Cauldrons I always get the experience on the "Vent" things that she wants to go in exactly the opposite direction that you want her to go, say right instead of left or straight up. And as time is of the essence because they close it makes it infuriating. She also seems to do it clumsily for lack of a better word. I have watched videos of the Cauldrons as I have not been able to get Aloy to jump sometimes, the ones I watch are a guy on PS and on the vents, he goes straight up with no dramas. In the videos and in regard to the jumping Aloy seems to do jumps often unprompted for him whereas I have just hung there, and she will do nothing even pressing various button combinations. I often have to go backwards to go forwards where she then does it automatically or with the "A" "Spacebar" combination to jump left. I was honestly beginning to wonder if it was my keyboard. Anyway the Sunwing has circumvented a lot of the climbing stuff.

Yeah, I contemplated that when I was clearing the map but deliberately left that area fogged up as I knew it belonged to the quest and I was about to do it. More the fool me. Yeah, it explains why I have gotten so frustrated in the Cauldrons and with climbing in general, I am glad it is a thing and not just me. As I said in a response to Dagless I watched some videos of a guy "Abyss Gaming" doing them and I was like what??? He would just climb straight up the vents whereas Aloy for me wants to go right when I really need to go straight or left to climb them in time. Or jump would just happen for him but on KB I could not get Aloy to do anything or had to use the combo. of a direction key and spacebar.

Agree on the vent climbing - never had any issues in the first game but in FW the climbing seems very slow and I've had to start over many times since they only stay open so long.

I am again glad it's not just me. The vents in Iota almost brought me to tears I failed them so many times, or rather managed to eventually get up them but the jump failed as I could not get high enough.

Mmm fair bit done yesterday but not much in terms of progress. Started doing all the Vista's I was aware of. Then did some side quests, one I stumbled upon that was fortunately short and then the one finally for Dekka to find her grandson and the Blood Choke quest. Going back over the map remembered I had to deliver the Lockbox to Marsa from Porguf so did that and then some flying to un-fog the map. Then headed to Landfall and got the Tallneck up and walking and then did the Thebes questline. I am in a quandary whether to advance the main quest line or explore Landfall when I start today but am leaning towards the main quest, this PT has started to tire me. Pic's So just flying around and then. The aftermath Got Dekka's quest done Welcome to Landfall

I'm just wandering. Went to Plainsong for the Greenshine slab, said hi to Zo, then won 3 boards vs the Strike player there. Decided to go back to Barren Light and win the rest of the matches with that guy to get the 2 skill points. Cleared a bit of fog on the map and found a tiny outpost called Hollowrock that I hadn't seen before.
Then more at the southern edge where the Tideripper is. Found a couple more firegleams to explode and more shiny rocks. My next stop is a Dreadwing site to hopefully get stuff I need for upgrades.

Shooting off those fangs is much easier if you shock it or tie it. Those Dreadwings are so fast, despite their size.

Alright! Finished Zero Dawn and Finally started Forbidden West last night. Did the prologue and just saved at the first campfire in the Daunt. Damn, this game is gorgeous! So, after the FW prologue, I am really happy that I played ZD again. Hanging out again with Varl, Marad, Avat, Vanasha, Uthid, Itamen & Co. was awesome. I don't think I would even have remembered people like Vanasha and Uthid, just from my 2019 playthrough. Also, good to see that the plot really takes things up very well from the end of ZD. It all fits very nicely. Love how Aloy starts out straight from the get-go with badass moves like dropping space shuttles on machines. She also has dialed the sass up to 120%, especially with that sun priest in the Daunt: "Hey! ... shhhh!" Love it! But I will say, her treatment of Varl was really shitty. I get that with her upbringing and everything, she feels like she has to do everything alone and I guess in her mind, she protects him but he didn't ask for protection, he just wanted to come along and frankly, when we explored the Far Zenith facility together, he didn't do too badly there. With everything that's at stake, refusing competent help like this is just stupid. Not a great move there Aloy. Also, the intro credits cutscene, when you see her riding montage for like 10 minutes, that was a bit strange if you are just coming from the first game. You definitely recognize a few landscapes before she reaches Sunfall and it looks like she rode in some strange loops there for a while. Anyway, so far so good. One thing that frustrates me at the moment is that they changed a lot about the M/KB controls. I keep hitting the tab key to craft new ammo and end up opening the map all the time. Might have to still do some remapping there. Otherwise the technical side of the PC port is awesome. My rig is pretty old at this point (RTX2070) but I can easily play on high settings in 1080p without issues. Runs very smooth, no bugs so far. That's commendable. All in all, good start so far, though I don't agree with all of Aloy's decisions in the beginning. let's see how this is gonna go.

Cleaned up the map on Landfall yesterday with a few repeat Slaughterspine and Stormbird encounters to get parts, still not enough though. Weapon of the day was definitely the Frozen Bolt Blaster, take that you stupid Clamber Jaws stops them dead in their tracks. Ignored the side quests but did the Relic Rune, used a guide cause after wasting a heap of time on this one last PT and not finishing it and the wasting more time to start off with this time just couldn't be assed. That means I will now have to do all the ones waiting back on the main map. Also did the Vista Point on Lands fall. Back on the main map cleared some more stuff up and in the doing of that ended up doing another quest for Kotallo down south near Tilda's house which has the Zenith AI installed luring machines. Headed back to the base and did a lot of chatting including Aloy and Beta having a heart to heart. Then headed back to Landfall to do Alva's quest which is where I will pick up today, then do Kotallo's arm quest, then Gemini. AnDromedary obviously SPOILERS in this thread and definitely in the screenshots Pic's, just going to dump some as O have a terrible headache.

More wandering yesterday. Attempted intermediate level Strike and won 1 match but got creamed several times after that. So, I went shopping and bought 1 of every piece I could find, including the Legendary Fireclaw, which is supposedly akin to cheat mode. Will see when I try again.
Hunted more beasties, activated a couple more campfires I'd missed before, and de-fogged more corners of the map. Made it back to the coast and won the second Gauntlet Run. That got me the achievement but there's another race now up towards the Bulwark. Winning that will hopefully reveal Red Teeth's identity (I am 99.99999% sure who it is but I want to see for myself).

. AnDromedary obviously SPOILERS in this thread and definitely in the screenshots Thanks! And yeah, I am not going to read anything here, unless it’s a direct reply/tagged. Just gonna post some stuff. On that note: You go Erend! Finally someone tells it like it is and lets her know that her behavior was shitty. 💪 Ok, and at least he is wounded, so it makes sense, she doesn’t want to wait for him but still, even here, again she says even if he were fine, she wouldn’t want his help. Why? Just seems stupid to go at it alone, if life on Earth is at stake and Aloy never acted stupidly in ZD. I just don’t get the reason. Otherwise, I figured out, that the Daunt is Zion Canyon just before reading it in a data file. The red and white cliffs were the giveaway. I was there on vacation a couple of years ago and just like with Bryce Canyon in ZD, they take a lot of artistic liberties but it’s definitely recognizable. 😍 I also like the Machine Strike minigame, nice little strategy game there. 👍

I also like the Machine Strike minigame, nice little strategy game there. It's not quite as addictive as Gwent but after playing/winning a few matches it's not too bad.

YeahI never got far with i ton my firs trun but I think I struggled with how bestt opla but now that I'v eveaten the game I'll b efocusing moer on i ton my nex trun as I think I'll find tha tmoer fun than trying t o maste rthe relic ruins. I only ignored it in my first playthrough as I wanted t osee the storybut I di dplay th etutorial missionand enjoyed it so I think with a bit o fpractice I'd be able to ge tused to it and play it. Imust admi tit' sgoo dt ohave some fun little mini games like tha tthough. It's one of the main reason swhy I play a fwe rounds o fQuasar on occasion when going through the ME trilogy a tleast in ME1 and ME3

👍 Whilst I do agre with Erend I can als ose ewhy Alo yfeels the w yshe does as she's used t odoing things on he rown she hasn't ever reall yfel tthe need for tagalongs a sdon't forget sh egrew up an outcasr tshe's gotten used to having t ofen dan dfight fo rherself without backup. But the good thing is she does realise as the story plays out that in thi sinstance she needs the backup so eventuially accepts Varl an dErend's help I'll pu the nex tbit in spoilres jus tin case you don't want to know There i sa mission early on where Aloy get's injured and nearly dies and was lucky tha tVarl found heran dtook he rback to one of the Utaru settlements to recover as that's where we meet Zo. I mus tadmit though tha tnow that Aloy has a sister in Beta it makes me wonder whether Aloy would tak eBet aback to Nora land and show Beta where she grew up

melbella , I hadn't even noticed that Burning Shores added an Arena Challenge. Yeah bu tthey wer eneve rcalledwater wings whe rI live the yha da nam ebeginning with B bu tforget what i tis now bu yeah I used them miyself when learning to swim. Gettin gt ouse Sunwing san dwatrewings was fun though.
