TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited.... I am freaking out man. SEASON 2 PREMIERES TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Nerd Christmas. I didn't realize that the first 2 episodes of season 2 will premiere tonight. I feel like I've probably seen it advertised several times, but it just sunk in that there will be 2 episodes. It's like back to back Nerd Christmas! |

I'll just be here... Trying to pretend I'm not super pissed that Netflix is not going to show it weekly in region 2 but dumb it all in one go after the show was finished airing in the states... I should read more. I haven't read much since the days I used to binge on old TSR Forgotten Realms novels. Wish I still had a local book store. E-reading and audible just isn't the same. I got mine from my local library. Maybe I should separate the two more, but the characters on the tv show just aren't as likable. In the books, the crew of the Rocinante is much tighter knit. They work together, depend on each other, and are virtually inseparable. Not this bunch of angsty dysfunctionals on the show (I couldn't believe it when Amos actually threatened Holden to his face last season) Speaking of... the crew is supposed to be much older. Alex is supposed to be in his fifties and a 20 year vet of the Martian navy. Holden is described as youthful-looking, but starting to go grey. And so on. These characters already had their careers, gathered a large number of skeletons for their closets, and were basically drifting their way through the rest of their lives when the incident with the Canterbury happened. I actually remember seeing the show runners say they changed how well the characters knew one another so that the audience could get to know them as they got to know each other. That was the thinking anyway. |

I just watched episode 1 and I'm already hooked! So thank you guys for recommending this show I live alone with my dogs and besides them, I usually just play video games cause I don't have a job any longer and having a break from gaming to see something, a tv show which continues is a nice break for me, exactly what I needed It's fantastic isn't it? I've just started reading the latest book "Babylons Ashes" after reading all the previous ones and I've watched the first season on Netflix. You won't be disappointed with the rest of the serious, highly recommend reading the books if you find the time too |

I honestly think this show is the closest we will ever get to having a Mass Effect movie or tv show. I know when I began watching this show, it really gave me a pre-trilogy feel for the same universe that Mass Effect is in. It is set in the time as we began to further explore/ enhabit the rest of our solar system and with every new episode, I feel we get 1 step closer to a very similar Mass Effect type of situation.
That and the creators and writers of the show admitted they are all giant Mass Effect nerds and junkies.
