Telltale is making an Expanse game. Looks like Camina Drummer might be the protagonist: Cool Camina is one of my favourite characters. Has Series 6 released on Prime yet, it's the 10th here but not sure what time it releases? First episode is out but it'll be a few days before i see it, just finished season 4 tonight.
As for the game, yea, Camina is cool. Can't say I am a huge fan of the Telltale formula but also haven't played that many of their games. The GoT game was pretty ok, so I think I'll give this one a go. The game design is certainly fitting for an Expanse game. We'll see.

I watched the last episode of season 5 tonight but going to wait till tomorrow to watch the first episode of season 6 tomorrow.

Right, sixth book. End of the Free Navy arc.. Honestly, didn't care for the Laconia stuff as much. I mean, it's not BAD. Just not as good as what came before. Have you read book 9 yet that closes the whole series off? It's a pretty good book and conclusion to the series. Not yet. Huge waiting list at my library

Yea, and another bunch of ex Telltale devs became another new studio, called Dramatic Labs and they are now making a new Star Trek game. Interesting times.
But sorry, we're going off topic. Anyone seen Ep1 yet? (Don't forget spoiler tags!)

My fav was Tales From The Borderlands.

Anyone seen Ep1 yet? (Don't forget spoiler tags!) Yup. It was alright but I didn't like the prologue. Fair bit of setup, understandable given it's the first ep of the season. Made for a bit of a slow-burn ep though. *** There aren't really any Ep1S6 spoilers in here but I'll spoiler it anyways. (I just talk about the pacing a bit more.) There are spoilers up to S5 though. Preface this next part saying again, haven't read the books...
***
After season 3 I thought/hoped we'd see things on that grand scale. Presidential and alien. But leavened with gritty pragmatism by characters like Drummer/Ashford.
Mostly what I wanted, and what's always been the hook since the beginning, is ALIENS.
Season 4 was a massive regression in scope. We went from seeing presidents topple and the whole ring system to a very small slice on a far-flung planet with not a lot of progression when the dust settled. I got a bit of aliens but nothing substantial and at the cost of all the scope.
Season 5 brought some of the scope back in terms of earth-shattering impact, but at the expense of the aliens. And Naomi's plot that should've been a 2-3 episode arc was dragged through the mud all-fucking-season.
So now I find out that 6 is it. And I'm left wondering where in the Jiminy Cricket fuck my aliens are. Ofc they're coming back, but after the heights of season 3 I was hoping for a damn sight more than the end of a few eps in the finale.
After the first episode, given the pacing, that's what my current assumption is. I really hope eps 2-3 ramp the pacing up a magnitude of order and we get to see some truly epic shit unfold across the season rather than just the end.
***
I rewatched S5 a week or so ago, skipped every scene with Naomi. I think a third of the airtime of S5 is Nagata crying in her helmet, or crying in a cell. I liked the season significantly more this way. Amos and "Peaches" was a great B plot.

Telltale is making an Expanse game. Looks like Camina Drummer might be the protagonist: From the website: telltale.com/In the near future on the outskirts of the asteroid belt, a bloody mutiny breaks loose on the Artemis. You take the role of XO Camina Drummer, where your choices determine the fate of the ship. What will you do with the truth, Bosmang?

I've enjoyed every moment of Episode 6.1. Very happy to have them back and see a certain former martian marine team up with the Roci Did you notice the particular belter at the beginning during the various news/drone feeds who said "now earthers know what it feels like to be belter"? if I'm not wrong it's the same one from early days @ Ceres with Miller/Havelock Hope the Expanse telltale game is fun and get released story complete eventually. Love Drummer (and like Cara Gee) very much.

That sums S6E1 up very well I think . I also saw it as a deliberately paced set-up for the things to come and a bit of a tease to what lies ahead. I am quite curious on how they will continue to wrap up book 6.
That prologue you have mentioned was the biggest tease of all though and I was actually shocked to see it. If their intention for the prologue was to intensify the wish for a screen adaptation of Books 7 to 9 even more I can only say this - it worked on me. I have to admit that not being able to binge the whole season this weekend is a bit annoying. Yup. It was alright but I didn't like the prologue. Fair bit of setup, understandable given it's the first ep of the season. Made for a bit of a slow-burn ep though. *** There aren't really any Ep1S6 spoilers in here but I'll spoiler it anyways. 100% agree with you on S4+5. The protomolecule was the most interesting thing about the show for me too. Was meh on S1, loved S2+3, was utterly bored with 4+5, with 5 being somewhat better in places but the Naomi plot was unbearably dragged out. Awful. S6 is definitely off to a better start. But if this is the final season, I'm also asking, where are my aliens?!? *g* The opening gave me Jurassic Park vibes, lol. Not sure if that's a good thing. Who let's their kid run around on an alien planet with unknown predators?? Alrighty.
I still want to punch Filip's insolent face every time he's on screen. I'm not sure I understand what's going on with him. At first it looked like he was falling out of love with his father, not idolizing him anymore and suffering from PTSD. But when he shot his friend for being full of shit, I got confused. Or is this still PTSD because he actually has trouble coming to terms with committing genocide by the millions? So he needs to tell himself he's a hero and not a villain?
I love how everything is going to shit and the survival of everyone left on Earth is at stake. That's massive. That's exactly the kind of thing I always wanted from a post reaper Mass Effct game we never got.
I'm still waiting for the protomolecule to be back. They've teased it over and over. And I'm expecting payoff now! Like, big time!
Naomi continues to be the least likable character of the crew. She keeps being difficult for no reason. Stupid and annoying. Great combination. I'm so sick of her drama. Give Peaches a break, girl!
Amos and Peaches were indeed the best part of S5. Kind of the only good part but there was far too little of that. Please, remedy this now!
I'm happy to follow Drummer. S5 also did her dirty. Please do better now, thanks!
The Avasarala/Bobby dynamic has always been good. I hope Bobby gets to do SOMETHING this season however. The show has so much catching up to do as far as I'm concerned. Dropped the ball hard before imo.
I wasn't thrilled at all about watching another possibly boring season and fired it up tonight with a kind of "nothing better to do" mentality. And I was pleasantly surprised that I found it interesting. So here's hoping it stays that way. There's no way it's going to be as awesome as S2+3 though.

More ep1s6 sans books The opening gave me Jurassic Park vibes, lol. Not sure if that's a good thing. Who let's their kid run around on an alien planet with unknown predators?? Alrighty. Wondered the same thing. Was reallllly expecting that alien in the bushes to kill her. I still want to punch Filip's insolent face every time he's on screen. I didn't see the pistol shot coming. Maybe killing his friend is the motivation he needs to dethrone daddy? I love how everything is going to shit and the survival of everyone left on Earth is at stake. That's massive. That's exactly the kind of thing I always wanted from a post reaper Mass Effct game we never got. Ditto. Amos and Peaches were indeed the best part of S5. Kind of the only good part but there was far too little of that. Please, remedy this now! The last scene with Amos and Holden just before he drags Peaches onboard was hilarious. Her face as Amos tugs her along was priceless too. I'm happy to follow Drummer. S5 also did her dirty. Please do better now, thanks! Yeah, I'm not sure what they're doing with her. I'm curious how she ends up. I really liked her as badass-second-in-command on Tycho but I'm not really digging her captaincy.

For spoilers of the previous season: I loved the Drummer/Ashford dream team. Had such a great dynamic. They were both my favorite characters. I liked her grieving period but yeah not sure they still know what to do with her. I want her to be super badass again and a true heroine this season. She seems to be cracking under her new desperate responsibility. Understandable, but not sure this is going anywhere good.

So finally watched episode 1 last night and thought it was OK as a set the table episode. Small gripe below and book spoilers sort of: I love Drummer but hate that she is actually a morph of two characters and especially hated the treatment of Michio in episode 1.
Drummer who had her own role in the books has in the series become a morph of a character called Michio Pa and Carmina Drummer in the TV series. It makes some sense but I was still not happy with it because they were very different characters in the book. As what I thought was a nice throw back to the books one of Drummers crew was named Michio Pa, she is the one at the end of the show that is told she is being kicked off Drummer's ship.
She saved the day for Drummer at the end of series 5, yet for a mistake all be it a big one she is going to be kicked off even though she is a part of Drummer's fracturing poly-amorous family. Couldn't she just stay and do her actual role as a Salvage Tech? A small thing but it just seemed very unnecessary and not how you'd treat someone you supposedly love.

The first book is a little bit misleading in that it makes it seem like the aliens are going to be front and center. But they're not, as the series goes on it becomes clear they're more the backdrop against which a political sci-fi drama about humans takes place. Which is one of my few complaints about the series (the books, that is, haven't watched the show), because I would have loved the alien stuff to be more prominent.

Just started watching the Expanse on Prime. Didn't want to watch it while I was reading the books, but since they're done now (and since I'm finding Wheel of Time to be unwatchable) I figured why not. 3 or 4 episodes in, enjoying it so far. I still don't love some of the casting (like the guy they cast as Amos, because Amos was my favorite character in the books), but that's fairly small potatoes. The show looks fantastic. And, unlike WoT, the writing is actually pretty good!

The first season is a bit slow but series 2 and 3 really ramp it up, 4 is a real disappointment for me having read the books first but I still found it OK.

And, unlike WoT, the writing is actually pretty good! The writing for the show really is very good, probably because the book authors are also the main screenwriters for the show. So it's very faithful to the overall plot (even though there are a gazillion smaller changes and some larger ones of course, prepare for some side character shuffling later on).
I started watching the show before I read the books (only read them after season 4) so I have a bit of a different perspective but I think Amos is cast pretty perfectly. IMO, Wes Chatham has some superb moments where you can see he really tried to get into the character.
I've just been re-watching the series in preparation for season 6 (watching s5e10 tonight, already excited to get into the new season) and I gotta say, with the possible exception of season/book 4, it's probably as good as adaptations can get, goven the different constraints you have with such a production vs. a book.

But the series grows on you once you accept it's going to be different from the books.

It starts as a slow build up and the pace increases until halfway through season 2. Then shit hits the fan and I don't think I stopped being off the edge of my seat until S4. Season 3 is up there for me with the BOTB of sci fi onscreen. BSG (2004) season 1+2, TNG's Borg/Locutus arc, latter seasons of DS9, Firefly, and most of Babylon 5.

Everyone's gotta be young and pretty, because that's all we watch TV shows for, right- the eye candy? I wasn't a big fan of the crew drama either, and its not like its really necessary since there's plenty of drama coming from the situation without having to create interpersonal drama on top of that. I just hope that doesn't get in the way of developing the relationships between the crew members, since that's a pretty BIG part of the books. But still relatively minor gripes. And I'm probably especially forgiving after trying to get into WoT (woof, so bad).

Just an all-time epic bad-ass.
