On the subject of Lucanis and the source of his "special" abilities. I can imagine that Emmrich will be fascinated by them in view of his expertise in the spirit world. It could make for interesting conversations between them considering Lucanis dislikes being the centre of attention but Emmirch seems to have a natural curiosity and desire to examine and inspect new phenomena.

I love the moles. And the beard. And his lips. And... well, you get the picture. He's a hot b*tch. 👌
Anyway. Obviously we don't know the full story, the interim between TN and Veilguard is going to be most revealing... and we keep forgetting the man has had an actual funeral, wether it was staged or not -I mean, between that and Zara Renata's threat, how could it not relate to his new... you know, condition? It's got to. I don't think he's killing mages for Solas or anyone. I think he's been laying low since his "death" and newly gained spirit/demonic powers, killing mages because well, evil mages (like Zara) suck - she likely has something to do with whatever happened to him, and maybe the spirit is pushing him towards revenge. Either that, or there's a serious threat to him (though Lucanis doesn't strike me as the scared type) or he's afraid/ashamed to sort of reveal his "new self" to Caterina and Ilario... doesn't know how to go about it, being socially awkward and all (to be fair, there's no good way to say "Hey Grandma, I'm a demon!").
Something like that. We'll investigate who's killing these mages (perhaps with Neve's help) and find Lucanis.

I don't think he's killing mages for Solas or anyone. Not now certainly unless he officially signed on with whoever sponsored the previous batch of Venatori. I think, though, that after seeing what Forfex was doing, he realised just how horrifically immoral these Venatori can be and that is what motivates him now. I keep thinking of Batman and the whole dark knight thing, except he has magic wings rather than a batmobile. I think he's been laying low since his "death" and newly gained spirit/demonic powers, killing mages because well, evil mages (like Zara) suck - she likely has something to do with whatever happened to him, and maybe the spirit is pushing him towards revenge. I don't think he's been laying low so much as living up to the name they gave him. He did say to Illario that if too many people got to know his face, he'd grow a beard. Perhaps he meant it, although as I've pointed out his armour is a bit of a give away. I can't imagine many people with eyes tooled all over them. there's no good way to say "Hey Grandma, I'm a demon!" Viago was calling him Caterina's "demon grandson" before his death. It was also before word ought to have reached them what he was being called in Vyrantium because he said about Caterina calling back Lucanis from Tevinter to deal with House Kortez for her personally. Either the stories were out of order, since Illario had gone to Tevinter to call back Lucanis on the specific instructions of Caterina, or she had already recalled him because of the Qunari threat. Also, he already had unnatural, uncanny abilities before his "death", so I think any spirit association was back in his past but possibly not known to anyone else, so Illario wasn't aware that the spirit probably saved him. Either that or they did fake his death between them. If Lucanis wanted to stay in Tevinter dealing with the Venatori but without them knowing it, it would make sense for them to give out he was dead, particularly if the Venatori had sent someone against him. That way Venatori like Zara would relax and think they were safe. Meanwhile it would leave the way clear for Illario to become First Talon. The Wake never indicated if there was an actual funeral with a body, just that they were in mourning for Lucanis. Given the Andrastrian burial practice is to burn the dead, Illario could easily have maintained he did this before returning to Antiva to avoid the body becoming possessed (which I assume is the whole reason they do this). We'll investigate who's killing these mages (perhaps with Neve's help) and find Lucanis. More likely Neve knows who is killing the mages and she points us in his direction. Either that or the Crows ask for help against the Venatori and he turns up to save the day. As I've suggested previously, that could lead to a comical confrontation between him, Viago and Teia. "You're supposed to be dead!" "How do you know I'm not?" I'm sure we'll know more after the podcast series but sadly we have to wait until near the end for Lucanis.

So we got a partial answer about Lucanis' demon thing from dev Q&A: It sounds like Zara Renata does indeed have something to do with it. John Epler said that some of the Venatori may have decided the nickname Demon should stick.

It’s what I’ve been saying all along. They put a demon in him - or killed him and the demon thing kicked in. More likely the former.

I'm curious, if he is truly possessed or if she did something else to him. I'm not sure if you can just bind demon to someone without full-on possession. I can't wait to find out.

...ok, so...part of me is kinda angry that they did this
Can't we have one DA game without a spirit/spirit possessed companion?
Am I still going to romance him? YES...But I'm still upset

Now the question given the tarot card description when does Rook find it out in game. I imagine the first time he sports his big pair of purple wings. That's hard to miss and even harder not to enquire about. They are like a gigantic elephant in the room. To be honest, I think he might bring it up himself once he has shown them off.

Some more Lucanis snippets from the Q&A: - Epler's favourite friendship is between him and Bellara because of how they get close despite their differences in upbringing
- Bellara and Lucanis are the party's cooks.
- We might find out more about what happened to Lucanis's parents in-game
Also, from today's pics of the Lighthouse, this seems to be Lucanis's room: It's pretty sad, but very in-character given his background. I can't wait to find some gifts for him so it gets more homely. (Though I don't plan for him to stay in that room for long.)

I agree that based off what Flemeth said, you can't force it on a person and if you do then it does result in a full blown abomination. However, back in DA2 you will remember that we rescued Keran from that crazy blood mage and she had been torturing him, trying to get him to accept possession or something like that because in order to check if he was possessed Anders zapped him. Then when we tell Cullen he says how it will take years before they can be certain he isn't carrying a passenger. So apparently you can seem quite normal and yet have a demon hiding inside you.
I'm still puzzled, though, why he had those abilities he did in Wigmaker Job. No amount of training could have given him that hearing and sensitivity to magic. However, they did say previously about him being 2% mage or something, so I suppose that could have something to do with it.

I agree, it fits him. Also kinda funny in a messed-up way "The handsome demon in the larder" Like all I need is a rusty small bed, but also there must be cheese and vegetables because I like cooking. Lucanis's condition is dark, but also sort of tragically hilarious. I suspect there will be a funny side to it ("dumpster fire"), and Zach's a comedian too so he's gonna nail it!

Did he choose it or did the others all bag their rooms first? Then he was too polite and shy to object. I'm glad we can hug our companions because he is going to get a lot of them. I'll turn his inner demon (whether real or not) back into its opposite if it kills me. (Probably will given what Mary Kirby said about him) And i new Lucanis and Bellara will be a special combiantion. Yes, it is nice to know someone other than Rook tries to show him some kindness. Bellara is rising in my estimation again.

An innate sensitivity to magic, I'd think, would ease such a transition. Maybe that's why it stuck, yes?
