HeHe at least someone at bioware is old enough to remember Vincent Price after all he was the master of the Macabre.

All I know is if he doesn't have a Vincent Price-like inflection in his voice this is a missed opportunity. If he does have that inflection then I'm going to have Thriller constantly playing in my head when I see him. Someone more talented with computers than me is going to have to come up with a similar sequence to the one they did with the characters from DAO and DA2 dancing to the Backstreet Boys (I think), except with the crew from DAI and the DAtV dancing to Thriller, particularly the bit with Vincent Price at the end.

You can't tell me that making Emmrich look so similar to Vincent Price wasn't deliberate.

I'm not sure what they have got planned for Emmrich but I do suspect he is going to be a lot of fun, particularly his interactions with Manfred. May be he is going to have mad scientist vibes like Mordin, except with more heart. After all, Mordin broke out into song at one point, so anything is possible.

Am I the only one who has no interest in romancing the geezer? I've mentioned before, he resembles my Dad too much for me to romance him. I'm just looking to befriend him. Hoping for something like we got with Mordin. I just loved my conversations with him, particularly in ME2.

Do we even know how old he actually is? Well assuming you have to do a bit of apprentice work before you become a full Necromancer, which is what he is in Flame Eternal, that is why I judged him to be late 40s/early 50s at the least. Flame Eternal was set in 9:22 and I don't imagine he would have qualified as a full Necromancer until his late teens at the earliest, so that is my reasoning, the game starting around 9:52.

I’ll turn 40 in less than a month, so that’s a workable age for me. I may make my PC’s look younger than me, but I usually play them more like someone my age.
Now all I need is to hear the voice.

I mean, I guess you could in Inquisition. Technically. But it feels more viable here. The problem comes with the questions you as the PC ask and the way you get treated. You are almost always treated like a newbie and ask things as if you have not spent 50 years on Thedas and don't know who Andraste is. (Or Mythal. >_>) So sometimes, by the nature of being a main character in a game with lore you can ask about, you can get your immersion broken a bit if you are trying to play someone who's been around the block.

I'm a dude in my 40s with some extensive graying, so I look older than I am. That happens. I'd guess that Emmrich is in his late 50s or early 60s. He's thin, but not a frail geriatric case.

I'd say he's in his late 60's to early 70's. Wow, he's looking good for his age then, although again that would make him more like my Dad because our family all look young for their age and he still looked in his 60s when he was in his 90s and only looked his age near the end because of the affects of his illness.

This. I feel like it's a general problem throughout most RPG’s. They let you look older, but no one treats you any different, so you never feel older.

Hehe who's to say he's not a resurrected corpse himself. I know you're joking but his eyes do glow on his tarot card. In which case he could be any age, his look having been fixed to his age at death.

I mean, my romance choice from Inquisition was a many-thousands-of-years old elf, so.... Him constantly bemoaning how no one listened to his wisdom is a bit more understandable in hindsight. These kids today! Still, with Emmrich, if he's anything like me he doesn't feel or think old. Obviously you have the wisdom (hopefully) gained from your years in the world but that is no reason to lose your sense of fun or desire to learn something new. The only problem is that unlike me, who has been kept in a young frame of mind by the students I worked with, he spends his time surrounded by corpses and his main servant is a mute (we think) skeleton. He might be a bit too accustomed to talking to himself (or them) and not actually expecting a response (like me with my numerous animals).

So no shock to me, he is the companion I'm most interested in. I haven't read Tevinter Nights, someone tell me if it is a recommended read. It may help fill in some blanks that aren't discussed in-game. And it's a pretty entertaining read. I'd recommend. How well is it written? The only game novel I ever read was the Mass Effect one about Anderson and Saren. And while it was interesting it was horribly written. So that turned me off reading any of the others.

So that turned me off reading any of the others. Tevinter Nights isn't a novel but a collection of short stories written by different people on the team. Thus they can vary in tone and presentation. Neve's was narrated in the first person, as was one of the others, but most are in the third person and they give a feel for what we might encounter in game, both characters and environments. Horror of Hormack was genuinely creepy and would suggest they will be having some darker themes in game if they do proceed with that plot line. I would certainly recommend them over the comic series the Missing as a lead in to the game.
