Emmrich Volkarin - Official Companion Thread [Spoilers]

Of all the companions, this guy has piqued my curiosity the most. Can't wait to learn more!

The whole Mourn Watch seems such a specific Background that you can select for your Rook.  

I wonder if Manfred is going to be similar to Murray, the Demonic Skull from the Monkey Island series - a kind of a sassy loudmouth. If yes, I'm gonna love him.

I've said elsewhere that he reminds me of my Dad, which would make it awkward romancing him, but I'm definitely going to befriend him and I gather they are going to make developing friendships have more depth than previously. If I start with a mage then he will likely also be a mentor for them, particularly if I decide to go with the Mourn Watch as their background. I'm still trying to decide which background would be most appropriate for my mage. I'm not interested in being a Crow and I don't really want to condemn them to the slow death of being a Grey Warden, whilst I'm struggling to see how they would be involved with the Veil Jumpers, knowing as we do so little about them, so that just leaves the Shadow Dragons, Lords of Fortune and the Mourn Watch. I don't really see myself as a Lord of Fortune. Shadow Dragons is definitely my faction of choice as I've said all along I wanted the chance to be a freedom fighter but that might fit a rogue better as a background. Perhaps I'll know better when we have an idea of the specialisms and what they give us.

I'm very clearly a veil jumper or Lord of Fortune, I love playing adventurous characters. But Emmerich sounds like a really great character. I do like the grey warden, Davrin, too ( I mean, he comes with a baby griffin), but I'm more excited for the factions, I haven't seen before in game. The wardens are pretty through by now, the crows are well introduced, so I like the other factions more, because they are new and fresh

Ah, thanks for clarification, I haven't read Tevinter Nights. 

I can't find where it actually says that. He certainly works silently for the most part but at one point it says "Manfred moaned", after being told he had the wrong elfroot, so he isn't totally mute. Perhaps he can communicate to an extent but not with actual words.  That would be quite amusing if he responds with gestures, grunts and moans when he disapproves, or alternatively is pleased.

Yeah that's one of the reasons why I won' tb egoing for Emmerich on my firs trun as I'm planon my first Rook being fairly young. Experienced a twhat she doesbut not Emmreich old

All I know is if he doesn't have a Vincent Price-like inflection in his voice this is a missed opportunity.

Kinda have my eyes on Bone Daddy over here, not gonna lie.
