Compared with Vivienne her choice of head wear is quite tame. It is stylish and sophisticated as befits her as a mage in Tevinter who has class but doesn't run with the elite establishment. Mind you her early concept art, which I assume was meant to be her, had a more "traditional" style witches hat type design with a difference, which I rather liked, but they clearly wanted something more original and distinctive. May be that was meant to be someone else since they don't have the prosthetic leg and the outfit is completely different too.

It's plausible that this could also be concept art for some kind of Venatori character. Her clothes share the same color scheme with those of the Venatori cultists in the gameplay reveal.

More I think more I think those were the concept arts for our Rooks. Afterall that does not look like Neve and then Crow lady.

On a different note: so, Neve is the "Ice Mage" of the group. Do we know if that's a definitive thing, ex: could we respec or steer her more towards fire, or healing, for instance?

AFAIK each character has a personal skill tree - whether Neve can have more than ice spells remains to be seen, but I don't think we'd be able to re-spec her to not be predominantly an ice mage.

The answer is not really. From a preview last week. Busche: So each follower, each companion has five core abilities. There are decisions you can make along the way that add mechanical changes to each ability.
Now, going back to your question - Neve and Bellara are both Mages, so they share two core Mage abilities between each other, right? However, the other three are class or character-unique. Neve is an ice mage, Bellara is not - so Neve is going to have ice-specific abilities that are unique to her.

They said Neve is the only ice mage, so that's certainly her personal spec. But they also said that companions also have access to core class abilities. So, if heal spells are a core mage ability - and it sounds like they are - then Neve should be able to cast them.

So perhaps her Specialization is Elemental(Ice)-focused, and her tree is unique, but she has access to other spells that are common to all mages. Or it's all Ice beyond those two initial abilities? Sounds a little limiting. But then again, if they're following a Mass Effect kind of style, companions (in ME, squadmates) have a limited number of abilities/powers, compared to Shepard or Ryder. And we can't control them either.
Well. I hope we get more on Spells/Abilities soon.

RPG Site: And how about the party members?
Busche: They all have unique skill trees, too. Now, those ones – we don’t want to overwhelm the players. So their skill trees are organized around their individual abilities. So when you unlock their full suite of abilities, each one has a skill tree full of choices where you can get autonomous usage, or lower the cooldowns, or add additional effects to the ability.

I imagine it’s like DA2, where there are basic skill trees that everyone in that class have access to, but then they have one tree that’s unique only to them. Like how Merrill is the only one able to use Dalish magic.

That's the way I see it. They rolled it back a little with DAI but Solas started off as an ice/spirit mage, whilst Dorian started as more of a fire mage. It would seem that they decided to revert to the DA2 system since it wasn't just the specialism where Merrill was different to Anders or Bethany. Merrill: Elemental, primal, spirit, arcane, entropy (no healing spells) Anders: Elemental, primal, spirit, arcane, creation (no entropic spells) Bethany: Elemental, spirit, creation, entropy (no earth based or lightning spells)
The only person who had access to all these mage schools was Hawke. May be they decided to mix it up a little this game so a companion who specialises in ice cannot do fire (sort of logical really and they are complete opposites) but Neve may be able to do some primal magic. Since Dorian was a necromancer who started with fire spells, perhaps Emmrich will be the same but will only be able to do fire based ones, although of course his main spell school is likely to be spirit based. Bellara may have a focus on spirit magic or possibly primal.

Yeah, but (until we learn more) it does feel like kind of a step back. Calpernia was a "Fire Mage", too, and maybe that's something she's specialized in or prefers, but I doubt that's all she could do. For one, enemies have different elemental resistances.

So the final Fantasy skill tree is only for our HC. That is sad.

That what i love in Final fantasy X, where they where so far away from each other and the builds where very clear. As opposed to Final Fantasy XII, where it is all a pretty mess. At least that was what i feel while playing both games.

Does that mean elementary mage is only fire, earth, storm and water? I take water then.

Where should I jump in if I wanted to attempt the Final Fantasy series? Do you like action or tactical combat? I can do both but I was toying with either 10 or 12 because Corinne Busche said they borrowed from both for this Veilguard. I guess I prefer tactical but I am not hard set on either. Tom Baker was my Doctor as The Robot was the first serial I ever saw on PBS way back when (1978). Of the more modern Doctors I like Tennant a lot and Matt Smith. Also liking the new guy, Gatwa, as well. Did not care for the Moffat era as much as the writing fell off (opinion) from Russell T. Davies so glad Davies is back as showrunner!
