What are you guys doing while waiting? My Sole Survivor is currently playing the role of The Silver Shroud. Dragonborn is about to do some stuff for the Thief's Guild. Inq is out picking new clothes for the upcoming ball in Orlais. Shepard is about to start the Leviathan dlc. Leon is out to rescue the President's daughter. Otherwise I'm not doing much while waiting for the next DA game.

Well, tried another go at DAO. After about 30 minutes, textures started going wonky, I saved, tried to reload, but the game crashes. Not even running in Compatibility mode works. I think it might be time to rip off the band-aid and accept that I may just not be able to run DAO anymore. Shame Origins still works fo rm e but it does occasionall yhav eissueswith th efinal cutscenesBut the nb ythattime I kno wthe stor yI jus tneed t oput it on the keep.

I am kind of wondering what kind of Mass Effect easter eggs we might get those crossover easter eggs are always kind of fun.

Good question the only thing that pops into my head since we are dealing with demons and gods and dark spawn, I'm going guess maybe Jarvic I think his Image could be thrown in there at some point.

Saying that, the "auto-dialogue" in the gameplay reveal was mostly tied to the background selection (faction/lineage) and in some other cases I'm pretty sure it was tied to the previous dialogue choice tone selection (pick the stoic option and Rook will be stoic over the entire exchange).

was that in the main story? I might've read it but don't quite remember the full context.

They will probably have a more in-depth feature talking about it on their website in a few days (or week, I don't know their content release schedule, just that they drop something every 2-3 days).

Haven't seen anything about auto-dialogue but John Epler said the below in Discord yesterday about dialogue options based on your Rook (race, faction, class). "There are specific lines and dialogue options for different lineages, as well as different backgrounds, and classes, including at least a handful that are unique to lineage/background combinations. No specifics but we wanted to make sure the game felt reactive to the choices you made in creating your Rook." Also in the Q&A the other day they mentioned at one point huge dialogue trees and that we would have emotion wheels, tone wheels, and choice wheels.

I keep hearing references (typically unflattering) to this term 'auto dialogue'. I'm afraid I don't understand the term. Would someone give me a basic definition perhaps with a couple of examples? ("Explain as you would a child." ) To be more helpfully informative, it appears from some things copied onto the general discussion that Game Informer will be doing several online articles on DA:Ve into the month of July according to Shinobi so it will be a long slog for those of us who want to avoid spoilers I'm afraid. Hey, its an improvement over calling it Dragon Age: Finally!

I keep hearing references (typically unflattering) to this term 'auto dialogue'. I'm afraid I don't understand the term. Would someone give me a basic definition perhaps with a couple of examples? ("Explain as you would a child." ) Basically it is just when the player character talks without input from the player. All modern BioWare games have this, but some more than others (ME3 was particularly heavy in auto-dialogue). It is usually fine if the line is about mundane things but it can be jarring/frustrating when it feels like the character says something you wouldn't have or something that seems like it should have been a choice. For example, in the gameplay reveal the player wants to help the woman in trouble but there is no input from the player. Maybe I only care about myself in that situation. Maybe I do care about the woman but think pragmatically that is not a good idea (we are in a hurry, don't want to get in trouble, etc). If that is present heavily throughout the game it can take away from player agency.

I keep hearing references (typically unflattering) to this term 'auto dialogue'. I'm afraid I don't understand the term. Would someone give me a basic definition perhaps with a couple of examples? ("Explain as you would a child." ) An example of auto dialogue in the recent game play reveal would be when Rook (as a Shadow Dragon) says where do we go now, Harding replies she would have thought he would know better than her being from Minrathous and Rook responding that it is a big city and he doesn't know this part of it. There is no option for the player to opt for anything else or give the tone they want but that makes sense considering what else were they going to say? Also, presumably if you chose a different faction, the response from Harding would have been different. There would seem to have been a fair number of cut scenes like that in the prologue, which to be fair did transition from actual game play and back again very well. Obviously some cut scenes did allow for dialogue options but at that stage of the game it did seem about choosing which companion you wanted for a particular task or how you reacted to a situation, which again made sense so early in the game.

Thanks for creating this thread. I made the mistake of reading the Game Informer article (never again!) and know too much about the story when I was really just hoping for more info on game mechanics. I saw one of Jackdaw's videos, and the gameplay trailer - those were enough for me as far as story, companions, and graphics. I guess until the game comes out I'll be lurking here when I lurk anywhere. Meanwhile it's back to Skyrim (with the right mods, there's banter!). Oh, and about combat ... If I understand correctly, Rook and companions will have up to 3 abilities slotted for quick use. I'm speculating that you set up the companions with the abilities you think will be useful ahead of time and those are the ones they'll use. When in combat, you can pause and bring up the ability wheel and direct your companions to use other abilities that are not in their 3 quick slots? Tell them who to target, etc. And of course Rook can also use abilities not in your quick slots. Am I understanding this correctly? Now, does anybody know if you can update the quick slots for everybody based on the enemy you encounter and can you tell your companions to switch from ranged to melee and vice-versa? My gripe with DAI was that it made no sense that you couldn't change weapons or abilities mid-combat to better fight the enemy. Planning in advance is fine, but being able to adjust tactics and strategy situationally is better.

Inquisition: I am back with the bears in the Hinterlands. Traipsing about the woods with Solas, Varric and Disgusted Noice(Cassandra). It's been years now so I no longer know that place inside out, that is fun. We ran across a lvl 8 bear that gave us a real match and decided to go back the same way that we came in order not to run into any of it's friends. Fanged furry fury no thanks! It will be nice to have the whole gang recruited later on.
Veilguard: Looking forward to seeing dialouge options later on. So curious about so many things but I don't want to have too many months to pick things apart and think about them before actually playing.

Oh, something I can (maybe) help with. While I'm not sure basic combat stuff should be under Spoiler box (especially since this is the Low Spoiler Zone ) I'll put the answers I have under spoiler too. Not quite on the wheel. The wheel is just used to tell them to fire off one of their three abilities. You can do the same for your character as well. Further, I've heard said in additional posts that you can queue combos through use of key strokes so one key can store multiple commands to different companions together. I don't think you can access other abilities unless you replace one of the other three. That said, some abilities will be available in certain situations (maybe like your two-hander could smash certain doors in Inquisition) and some items carry their own abilities as well. When/how/how often we can change the three we initially queue is unknown at this time as far as I know. As far as switching between ranged and melee, the companions in the gameplay trailer seemed to be doing so to some degree on their own. You can also see the Player-controlled Rook switches periodically from two melee weapons to a bow when disengaged from their opponent. Sorry we don't have more slid information yet, but it does seem to be coming far more frequently if a little haphazardly. Hope that helps.

So curious about so many things but I don't want to have too many months to pick things apart and think about them before actually playing. yea hm ylsa tcoupl eo fDAI playthrough's hav ebeen a bit stop star tbu tonce I'v efinished thi srun I'm looking forward t ogoin gal in on a run o fall 3 .Need t oteac hthos eOgre' s some manners
