The player is given a choice of which faction to choose. Choosing that gives a background for that rook. Doesn't matter the class or race you play.

I hope this 3 character limit on consoles can be patched at some point. I have at least 5 different Rooks I want to play.

I was going to try and make a Rook who looks like the one from the gameplay trailer, make him a gruff Shadow Dragon mage... buuut ended up with something entirely different aside from keeping brown skin. Good natured cocky Lord of Fortune rogue:
