Rogue combat continues to look great; planning for my third character to be a Duelist so it was nice to see the possibilities. Delighted that we can 'enchant' our skills as well as our equipment, that's a neat twist on upgrades.
This further confirmed that Davrin and Taash = Fire damage, Harding and Bellara = Lightning, Lucanis and presumably Emmrich = Necrotic and Neve = Ice. Which makes me wonder if my first Rook should be an Ice mage after all, just to balance the sqaud a bit more ...

Yeah I’ve been playing a lot of rogue recently, so I was planning to choose it last, but it’s looked very fun in both the prologue and the progression trailer. And it fits the background I have for my Rook just as well. Decisions, decisions.

I can understand that so let's work together stick with your plans for your Rook and I'll go the warrior route since I was planning to do it on my first play through and we can compare notes. cause Harding is going to be my first romance she will need a strong person to keep her safe.

I don't know if we can play like we used to with a tank actually taunting and keeping ennemies on them. CC appears to be limited, there's no cover mechanics? So max dps and dodging/mitigating damages seems to be the main gameplay for the 3 classes.

The rune system offers an interesting counter to some issues that a player might have with a build that with abilities and equipment leans towards a specific type of damage, because they can be used to alterate all damage Rooks deal to another type.

This Rogue Rook has returned choice paralysis haha. Been wanting to play Spellblade for a while but loved playing rogues in DA2 and DAI. That initial gameplay demo in June almost sold me on Rogue again but wanted to see what it was like with more than 1 special ability.
I may go Rogue with Rook 1 - feel it fits an Elven Shadow Dragon better. If I was spellblade I was going to make my 2nd character (probably dwarven Lord of Fortune) a Rogue but if I go Rogue with Rook 1, the Dwarf will be a warrior.

I can't talk for the look, but demons with names have been a thing since DAO. Isolation makes me think despair. Is that a demon or a blight node? I thought the latter and when it bursts open it releases more of the taint. Or is this from another game play video I haven't viewed yet?

So anybody think the caretaker is probably a proto elf, peer of Mythal and Elgar'nan who just stay on his side of the fade? Probably some pal of Solas in the good old days when they were both just spirits and he called him over to manage the Lighthouse once he had created it and keep a watch during his absence. In fact it might explain who was keeping a watch on Solas during his millennia slumber. I've frequently asked where he was and now we have our answer. He was in the Crossroads in the Lighthouse and the Caretaker was there to ensure he wasn't disturbed. Quick question, have they confirmed that the Lighthouse is actually in the Fade itself or is just more a sort of halfway house like the Crossroads and other small pocket realms we visited in Trespasser? The latter would make more sense to me.

they said Fade in the IGN video. You mean the Devs themselves? I do find that strange. What is sustaining it? Normally to keep something stable in the Fade requires a powerful demon controlling it. I thought that is why the Evanuris created the Crossroads, so it could be Fade adjacent and draw on its power but didn't require so much maintenance to keep it from breaking down and reforming, the exception presumably being the Eternal City (Golden City), which likely was created using the combined magic of the gods. I dare say we will get some sort of explanation for this new phenomena in the game lore. I suppose it explains why Solas took so long to recover his strength down the years if he was also having to sustain his lair at the same time. Mind you Flemeth/Mythal had her own small pocket realm in the Fade but nothing as fancy or hospitable as the Lighthouse. It will be interesting to discover if we can see the Black City from the Lighthouse grounds. If it is in the Fade then we ought to be able to, unless it is inside the Black City.

I think so. It seems all classes has a slot for melee weapon and a slot for ranged. It would've been great if we had more freedom in weapon selection tho. If so, what would non-melee classes and archers get as secondary weapons? The warrior have: Swort and shield (range) dual wielding (meele)
Rogue have: two weapon fighting (meele) bow (range)
Mage have: staff (range) Dagger and orb (meele)
Because the other mage classes are sure not getting the blade and orb, since it's specifically a Spellblade specialization thing. This is wrong in all mage fighting we have seen the mage have both Staff and Dagger/orb. In the 3 videos we see that specialization only have a few extra strong skills.

I thought the latter and when it bursts open it releases more of the taint. Or is this from another game play video I haven't viewed yet? It's definitively a demon, it's not the only spirit/demon being fought in that scene. And after rewatching in 4k, it looks close to DAI Despair demon in shape. It's in the combat/progression videos (so first post for link). Quick question, have they confirmed that the Lighthouse is actually in the Fade itself or is just more a sort of halfway house like the Crossroads and other small pocket realms we visited in Trespasser? The latter would make more sense to me. It's supposed to be in a pocket dimension in the Fade as GI mag was corrected by a dev a while back about it.

She couldn't talk/explain thing and fight at the same time and tried to explain things and then show them instead of just playing and then explain. So she just ran around not attacking like a chicken while explaining. Things looks better in the section where John is talking. And I don't think the build was any issues exactly (Spirit Bomb deals a lots of damage). Looks more like its strength were not exploited because they were trying to show specific things not really related to it. And all the running around meant she never had mana, because it's generated while attacking during combat from what I've seen in the video.

Disappointed that duelist seems to just be a renamed assassin. I hope it is possible to make viable builds that minimize the usage of necrotic dmg.

I rewatched the video and i like how Murder of Crows Ultimate more or less fits Iaijutsu trope ( some example). Only instead of (re)sheathing their blade, Rook strikes a pose in the end

Disappointed that duelist seems to just be a renamed assassin. I hope it is possible to make viable builds that minimize the usage of necrotic dmg. Nah, assassins tend to be more stealthy and attack from the shadows. This Antivan Crow Duelist appears to be all flashy footwork and in your face attacks, which is how the duelist was always described. In DA2 we had a talent called Throw the Gauntlet where we deliberately encouraged the foe to attack us. Mind you they also had Vendetta that was all about creating a smoke screen to allowed you to make stealth attacks. Nevertheless, I've pointed out elsewhere that it was never a specialism associated with the Crows and really not their usual modus operandi (Lucanis aside), whereas assassin could more reasonably be ascribed to them and a specialism they originally developed, so I understand where you are coming from.
