N7 is no more than a letter and a number to me. Doesn't mean much at all to me, in fact I barely remember any mention of it in game. Kai Leng didn't do anything to infuse some sort of respect or "coolness" to the rank of N7. And Shepard was more defined by her role as a spectre I feel, anyway.

,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸ I see the game's focus to be elsewhere and the protag's leveling experience will be focused on attributes / skills like Pathfinder, Soldier, Charisma (for making allies) to ensure the end game is won.

Why would Ryder want to become N7? Because if the father is a strong alpha masculine figure, he seen as a hero to his child. They want to grow up to be just like dad. That's why Judging from the trailer pop gets a 10 out of 10 score on knowing how to be a manWhy nobody has linked Mulan yet? Come on, people! It was a MUST!!!

The confusing part is that they shown the pic of Ryder in an N7 armour. Unless it's just an armour we can acquire in the game, every possible outcome would go in spoiler territory. It seems strange they'd have revealed one right now. Though maybe after N7 it'll be more clear and it'd make sense that they gave that pic to GI. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸ From what Flynn said, Ryder is a Pathfinder, not a N7.
That Gameinformer magazine cover must be a typical marketing idea designed to maximize the appeal of the N7 logo. Thus, a crude attempt to increase sales.
I can just read, in my mind, the infused marketing "speak" designed as a serious game article. It will be all positive.... same as the DA:I article way back when. This advertorial technique is one way that EA spends its money on advertising.
Ergo, imo, the article is bought. Feel free to have your own opinions, btw.

So I wouldn't be surprised if taking Daddy's armor will be a big part of "hero rises" thing they promote so much right now.

Flyinn said Ryder is a Pathfinder, but he never said we can't become N7 in the game. We don't know that. It is possible, as I said, that armour is only something we can acquire and we won't become N7, but the armour is the same as the father. It might have some meaning.

And it could turn out pretty well, if they flesh out the importance of the rank in game. Then it could possibly be a pretty "dopamin" moment, to receive the armor, pushing you forward.

Flyinn said Ryder is a Pathfinder, but he never said we can't become N7 in the game. Snip ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸ True. However, in an interview he also said that if you concentrate on a skill specialization, you will get into trouble.
For example: 1- Concentrating on soldierly skills won't help you with the colonisation aspect 2- Concentrating on Pathfinder skills may get you into trouble in combat.
These are some of the choices. My point is that you won't be able to reach the N7 (assuming there is one) because of the necessity to spread your skills.

Did he actually mentioned those type of skills? I understand your point, but the N7 rank might not be related to any skill but only a plot progression thing.

I don't think Gameinformer did cover for MEA2. Are you sure the N7 character on the cover is the player? Considering she's a woman, and the asari and the male companion in the tech demo are in it, and the subtitle, I think it's a pretty accurate guess.

Apparently N7 is "iconic". Or is this cover the same that will be on the finish product?

Giving the N7 status to the player will be annoying. I hope it will not happen, at least not in the first game. They might as well not have killed Shepard if they're planing on going Shep 2.0 route.

They didn't plan to make Andromeda when they killed Shepard. I do prefer if we won't become N7 in the first game (if Ryder will be a MC in multiples ones) though I don't think it'd make Ryder Shepard 2.0.

I'm keen to become N7 over the course of the game: as long as the training is rigorous, hard and not taken lightly.
