Playing As Dad @ Certain Points in Game

I think it would be a nice switch as long as its done sparingly--like once or twice tops. I'd prefer to stay with one character for 99% of it though.

It would be cool if we didn't get to play DadRyder when he rescues us. Don't you think it would be cooler if he just shows up right when we are backed into a corner and wondering how the heck to get out of whatever situation we're in?

I'd like to play/see him as he's off doing something interesting though.

I think we will be able to choose to play whichever of the Ryder family dad.. mom ..brother or sister that's why the game magazine cover is a woman N7 aka mom Ryder maybe?

I'm not really interested in seeing this, but if they did do it, I think I'd like to see it done Witcher-style. That way it could be used as a device to tell you parts of the story that your character can't see without just dumping exposition on you. Personally, I thought this was incredibly well handled in Witcher 3, as it was a more engaging way to find out what happened to Ciri, plus making her a subject in her own right instead just the object of Geralt's quest. If they did something like that in ME:A, it would need to similarly add something to the story.

Since he's supposed to be off elsewhere doing things iirc, maybe N7 dad leaves recordings that Ryder finds, and instead of listening to the full recordings we get short playable scenarios that interactively show what happened. If they added choice to those segments, it would also give the player a chance to choose some of the details of past events that would impact the environmental and local plot details of the area they've just arrived in. Might be a cool way to add additional replayability, since you could in some ways change the scenarios Ryder was interacting with. Not in a way that would alter the main plot (that would be going overboard in terms of work necessary), but just altering details of the side stories that you encounter on individual planets.

For instance, maybe N7 dad has to side with one of two factions on a planet, and which one he chooses determines who Ryder meets and gets quests from, along with what those side quests are.

But now I'm just letting my imagination run wild. Overall, I think it's probably best if they just have you playing a single character all the way through.

I hope Mass Effect Andromeda will be the epic adventure like the last mass effect trilogy was but even better...it seems like most people want this game to be anything but a Mass Effect game...Mass Effect Andromeda is not a net sewing competition are the next sims in space game or a romance sims game.

Feels like something that could affect negatively on the replaybility, because of a lack of choice and possibly being a quite linear thing. Like the Ciri thing in Witcher 3 (but they were thankfully pretty short) And I wouldn't want that unless it's done well and fits the story they're trying to tell, but I find it hard to see why the perspective-change need to happen besides it being "cool" and "artistic".

I wouldn't mind having a segment or two where we play as the father (or sibling) in ME:A.

Maybe once in the prologue, then once more when the protagonist is either busy with something else or temporarily incapacitated in some way.

We'll be rescuing Dad at some point. 

Probably managed to get his old ass kidnapped and we'll have to come flyin' in to save him.

Not really a fan of this idea, I only want to control Cub-Ryder since this is the main protagonist I want to role play. If the game switches characters this kind of destroys the role play immersion for me.
