I thought it could merit some discussion, in case anyone else would like to discuss the Elder Scrolls.
Recently played ESO, for a little over a month now (it was a birthday gift that I only got around to playing after finishing Fallout 4's Far Harbor storyline). Having played the prior games, I enjoyed it. It's a bit flawed (all the games are in their own way). Having played as a Dunmer in the Ebonheart Pact, I enjoyed meeting different Dunmer and learning more about the Argonians and their relation to the Hist (which has mostly been shrouded in mystery in the prevous games). I liked the ending to the MQ (it did address why the Oblivion Crisis happened), and having recently played the Dark Brotherhood, I thought it tied nicely into the post-Sithis worship that was brought back from the older games as well as the new mythology post-Oblivion.

Dunmer master race.
Only played Oblivion and Skyrim and I think I haven't technically finished the former. I'll get back to it eventually.

Skryim is the only one I've played myself. I'd like to play some of the others at some point in the future. Also, people should post pics of their characters because that is always fun!

Skryim is the only one I've played myself. I'd like to play some of the others at some point in the future. Also, people should post pics of their characters because that is always fun! All right. This is my character from ESO - Forven Tyravel (a fairly early picture - he's changed a lot since the start of the story). My main Skyrim characters were a Redoran warrior and a Telvanni mage, respectively, so I elected to create a Hlaalu character this time around for a different experience. Attachment DeletedHe's younger than my prior protagonists, who were centuries old and had a lot of experience under their belt; my Redoran was around since the siege of Dagon's armies during the Oblivion Crisis, the eruption of Red Mountain, and the incursion of the Argonian invasion, while my Telvanni was traveling the planes of Oblivion for centuries, only to return and discover the tragedy that ensued to his estate and holdings when the moon fell into Vvardenfell. Both of them were victims of circumstance at the start of Skyrim, with my Redoran originally seeking to retire from war while my Telvanni was seeking to head to Winterhold to rebuild himself; my Hlaalu is also a victim of circumstance due to what the Worm Cult did, but he embraces the opportunity itself without the reluctance shown by my prior main characters. Forven is only in his thirties, ambitious, and sees opportunity with the Pact; he chose to become a sorcerer to stand out in House Hlaalu. He believes in the potential of the Pact. What about everyone else?

I'll never forget the reveal for Skyrim at the VGAs. The lights went down, and they brought out a men's choir dressed as dragon monks and singing the main theme while gameplay showed on a big screen behind them. Even just watching on TV, it gave me chills and ALL THE HYPE.
Have been replaying recently, when no one's around for social gaming, and am seriously wavering in my resolve to not buy the remaster right away (I'm on console, no free Skyrim for me).

I loved Skyrim's soundtrack so much too. They really, really hit the nail on the head, as you said. They really managed to convey the epicness and the beauty of it. But... In the end, it wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the soundtrack it was based upon, and its indescribable, astounding, magic. This song... This song just takes my mind away immediately. As soon as it starts, I'm back to Morrowind and its fields of grass and not. With all the feelings tied to it.

I remember speechcraft being a lot more useful too, you could role play a House Hlaalu politician and pretty blag or intimidate your way out of most of it instead of fighting. Immersive journal and objectives that encouraged exploration and it was totally possible to get lost with no clear marker and general directions π Unlike today's watered down, hand holding, instant gratification fix (yes that includes you Skyrim) π Might look pretty but there's not much there is there love? π Sorry about that, I think I'm just one of those retro gaming farts ππ Still be playing Skyrim to it's death though β

The first time I ever heard Wings of Kynareth was pretty life-changing. At the time I was almost very intimidated by the gigantic world I stumbled into but that score relieves anxiety like no other. Still my all-time favorite soundtrack and possibly favorite game. I never got into Morrowind way back when because I was a dummy who couldn't play a game without a map and quest markers and I must've spent four hours looking for the location of the first quest to find a cube or whatever and I couldn't do it and I ragequit after getting wrecked by birds. So naturally it made me not want to play Oblivion but then my friends were all telling me how sweet it was so I caved and must've spent 400 or so hours playing it. Skyrim was......well, not up to par. I'll probably try to properly get into Morro when I go on vacation from work. Oh boy, the memories. I still remember. I'm pretty sure that the first Mage guild quest is still the one, single quest that has taken me the most to get through. Cause it was hard? Hell no, cause I couldn't frigging find the frigging damned cave! It didn't help that I was like, 13, and that my english wasn't that good. And that internet was still kinda new for me, and it never occured to me to look at where it was. I did take a look at where all the good stuff was though, and many other things, but those were probably a whole year later. I played that game for so long...

Ah, the memories of looking for map points in Morrowind, reading the journal that would say stuff like "you will find your objective northeast and to the left of that big rock over there, seventy-five paces from the oddly-shaped tree". What I don't miss about that game is spending ten minutes hacking away at a single mudcrab as a level one character, watching my hits miss over and over and over.
