This is always what I assumed it was. A top secret project to ensure the survival of the milky way races in the event of a (likely) reaper apocalypse. No-one who doesn't need to know knows, including shepard. Perfectly explains why it was never mentioned in the games. Except every indication is that it was a publicly-known venture, not secret, so... Yeah.. doesn't make much sense does it.

You get the full on astronaut look with that armor. Thus the name, no doubt. They need to give us our Sara Ryder gameplay vid so I can see her (hopefully) glorious hair and gameplay features and edge closer to "preorder confirmed" status.

Not so sure about the idea of N7 being forever closed off. When you stand up a new aircraft ... there are no instructors, there is no initial qualification school house, there is no weapon school ... you might have some folks who are highly experienced in other aircraft, but other than the test pilots, no one has experience in the new aircraft. And no one has operational experience.
But people know how to create new instructors, stand up an FTU (school house), stand up a weapon school. So you do it. The first instructors get trained by the test pilots ... they get anointed and become the initial cadre of instructors in the new weapon system. They create the school house to train new pilots in the new weapon system (the analog for N1-N6). Eventually they set up the weapons school. Weapons school is probably the best analog in this example, for training new N7s.
But we don't even have to do that. We already have at least one N7 in Ai, he can start up a new training program that eventually leads to becoming an N7. If you want to think of him as the equivalent of the test pilot ... sure. But this is a new galaxy, not a new program. So really, he's more like one of the senior pilots standing up a new squadron at a forward operating location, someone who will fill both a leadership role and the role of N7 instructor.

The Arks leave the MW during the timeframe of ME2, so considering she's still there in ME3, I doubt it. I do wonder if and who will see from the first two games.

The more I watch the trailer and take in what's happening (in a galactic sense) the more I like it.
Can't wait to see a full gameplay trailer at the TGAs, how bout that armor about a minute in though! Epic.

An actual spoiler for the beginning of the game: - The NPC sibling is apparently crippled from complications in cryo sleep but you can build your relationship with them throughout the game. This explains why you are selected for the role of Pathfinder over them, but not over other, most likely more qualified, candidates.
Ohhh, I like that. A lot. So our sibling will be kind of like Joker? Awwwww. As long as they don't make the sibling angry over it and hate your guts like Carver. He sucked big time. And I hated being stuck with him as a mage. Benthany was so sweet...

While I'm bit downed we didn't get any combat gameplay footage, the gameinformer doc did raise my spirit. If it's inspired by ME3MP, I know I'll get good mileage of this game, regardless of it's narrative quality. If it's indeed as good as ME3MP, I expect I'm going to play MEAMP almost exclusively during 8 to 12 months following the release, only progressing minimally in SP. Although I've got to give it to this trailer: there are those big ass creatures who look really fun to fight (that is if the fight aren't cut short by some interrupt nonsense). I sooo wanted big ass creatures to fight, and I got them! As for the exclusive content, yeah, I'm not a fan either, but I fully expected it. I'm still waiting for actual gameplay footage, but if that game really comes out around the end of March, I might make myself a nice birthday present (not with any of the nomad replicas though, those are just dust accumulator in my eyes).

I'm sure there will be Cerberus or former Cerberus folks going to Andromeda. What I'm referring to is a Cerberus pack that includes Cerberus armor, a poster of TIM for the cabin and a humanity #1 shirt for Ryder to wear around the tempest Now, I have this image of the Ryders kids with TIM posters all over their cabin, ready to throw their panties (and virginity) at TIM like overexcited groupies. I'm not sure how he can retain his illusive nickname while being portrayed as a rock star.

Whether being helpful and supportive or ...well... - Such a beautiful day to save some Arks, care for a walk? Oh right. - ... - Why so serious? Walk it off.

Me neither. And I don't usually care about stuff like a special armor or a weapon. What would really annoy me would be an expensive season pass for the multiplayer. Or any sort of overpriced season pass. I don't mind paying good DLC anymore but I'm not paying for any nebulous season pass for content they haven't revealed yet. I want to be able to pick which DLC I like. (I never bought The Descent for DAI).

The main thing that's geting me is the FTL drive. To make the 2.5million LY journey in 600 years, you'd have to be travelling at over 4100c! And considering the current ships in the ME-verse travel at around 50c, that's a bit of a leap! And that's before we get to the whole drive discharge thing from other parts of the ME lore. I suspect our 'Ghost ship' from the CDN will have a hand in it... Tim What's puzzling to me is that in the original trilogy, ships didn't really have the capability to warp to other star systems; they had to use the mass relays. If the relays were never all that indispensable, that would put possibly the most annoying aspect of the ME3 ending (yeah, more annoying than starkid casper) -- that the relays went offline in all endings -- under an entirely different light. I thought that was the reason why BioWare was setting the game in a new galaxy in the first place; since a galaxy without functioning relays wouldn't work as an ME galaxy at all. However, that can't be right; because we'd still have questions like - i) whether Andromeda would have a resource similar to the relays, to make it work as a feasible ME galaxy; and ii) how we'd get there. So what was the deal with the relays enabling FTL travel in the first place? Has this aspect of the lore been retconned? Also, if the rationale for the arks wasn't to escape the reaper invasion, then what was it? The reference to Andromeda's 'resource-rich' corner is pretty alarming as others have pointed out. As to whether this is a 'private business' enterprise, or a council initiative, it's also puzzling that what we've seen so far suggests the former. The latter would have had the motivation to save galactic civilization from the reapers -- what motivation could the former have? Do we have an even more ambitious cross-species Cerberus in our hands? Milky-Way Supremacists? Why even use the word 'ark', then, with all the connotations that it has? If there's no 'flood', then why are these called 'arks'? Did the reapers not know about this project, with all the indoctrinated sleeper agents they had all over the place? Why didn't they do anything to stop it? Including intercepting the arks on the way to Andromeda? The arks would contain plenty of species-goo to extract without effort. Also, are the arks carrying anything other than intelligent species? Dogs, and cats, and smiling salamanders with gills extending out of their ears? If the goal is to terraform any planets, make it a new 'home', etc., you can't do that without whole ecosystems in place. I wonder whether the arks contain that sort of cargo at all.

We have real life example of stuff that looks similar: ^ THAT doesn't look stupid and even has a function, more than one even... but the bone-halo (at least so far) sure does look at least weird (+ in a fight it could even be used against him/her/it - a nice handle for the opponent to grab and yank back: voila: broken neck)

,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸ A slight puzzle regarding the Turians
Where do they come from?
The four ARKS contains Humans, Salarians, Asari and Krogans (ie: Krogans have their own colony vessel = info from the Krogan loyalty mission). The Hyperion is mostly human, according to the Briefing video. However, we also see an Asari in Hyperion from the N7 trailer. Thus, I suspect all ARKs have some other race representation in the colony ships. The Nexus is also mostly human but contain other races as well.
So, when Mac mentioned in the tweet that Turians are in Andromeda, is he talking about the token NPC?

Incorrect. The four council dominant species have their own ark. What the krogan have is a Krogan colony ship, not an Ark. this is stated in the coverage from GI, as well as that each Ark is for one of the four council leading species. It'd make no sense for the krogan to have an Ark, in all honesty.
