Female Ryder for sure. I used to play mostly male characters back in the day, but that changed after my canon femshep came along. She was my 5th or 6th shep in ME1, but the only one I've played in ME2 and ME3. Now I play female chars almost exclusively in games with full VO. In games with full VO I don't see the protagonist as a representation of myself, but rather as a character I can help shape as a co author or something (main author being BioWare). For some reason I really like strong female characters.
In games without a voiced protagonist I see the character more as an extension of myself, and a female character feels really off-putting. In these games I always play male characters (i.e. DAO). Same goes for MMOs, even full VO ones like SWTOR.

With BioWare games, I have always played the female lead first. I'm not sure why. Maybe because the option isn't present in most games?
This time, I'm telling myself that I'm going to play as Scott first. I may go into the CC and come out with the female lead again; but my intent is to begin with the male lead for the first time.
Either way, as long as both VAs are good, and no technical bugs are attached to one gender or the other (see ME3), I'll play each dozens of times. I'll still be playing when most of you have moved on to other games and more important things.

I'm very undecided. I like them both a lot and I don't have the best track record for decision-making skills, so I'll probably end up switching playthroughs mission by mission rather than waiting until the first playthrough is done... it will take forever.  Ditto for me, I chose Undecided. |

I play both, but usually female first. However Mass Effect was the first game I played that allowed you to pick a gender, but since I didn't realize this at the time I played Sheploo first. So I might do the guy.

Male. I'm kind of a basic bitch, in that for role-playing games and video games in general, I like to play as a video game version of myself. I like to make my player character look as much like myself IRL as possible, act and speak and respond to how I would if I were in the situation, try to romance who I think I would IRL or who clicks with me, and just in general project myself onto the main character. I'm kind of surprised that more people don't do this. Maybe I'm just a hella semi-narcissistic sexy motherfucker. If I don't "play as myself", than its so much fucking harder for me to get fully invested or immersed.
But yeah, totally playing as Scott, at least at first.
