I'm going to go out on a limb and just say that the Sailor Moon remake (Sailor Moon crystal) is absolutely awesome. b-but the anatomy...

I've been looking for more anime to consume. My tastes are as follows: Spriggan FMA Brotherhood DBZ (80's/90's) Death Note Hellsing Fist of The North Star
Something violent but not gratuitously and also more adult oriented than the typical shonen style. And good animation. Not a big fan of mechs even though I thought Full Metal Panic! was good though I only liked two Gundam series (Mobile Suit and Wing).

Does it have to be modern? Is that what you meant? I mean I can cite plenty of animes that had excellent animation...for 1987.

Good animation for it's time. I'd say my favorite style would be Death Note or Attack on Titan. Both are very seamless and don't rely on CGI. But if I were to go 80's, Dragonball and MSG were great too. FMA/B was good too for comedy with the use of chibis and other goofy emoji styles expressions. What I dislike is FLCL, Dragonball Super, or anything else that has wildly disformed people (One Piece for another example).

Anyone watching currently airing anime?
I picked a few up but the only anime I still follow right now are Re Zero, Mob Psycho and Jojo Part 3. All are pretty great imo.
I do wait for a few Jojo episodes before I pick it up again because it's not an anime I enjoy watching weekly.

Ok, I'm finishing Neon Genesis Evangelion and I still don't know if this was a mistake or not. However, women voices own in this anime.
My best to 3 anime would be:
1) Psycho Pass season 1 (Social and crowd control - I'm a sucker for those scenarios) 2) Planetes (really high quality anime) 3) Black Lagoon season 1(action, lovable characters)
Honorable mention to Code Geass, Boku dake ga Inai Machi and the 80's Appleseed.

Be sure to watch the End of Evanglion movie when you're done to see an alt take on the ending. It's still part of EVA, so expect to love it or hate it just like the main series lol.

Shokugeki no Soma is brilliant, Diamond is Unbreakable is good, though weaker than the previous JoJos, Prisma Illya 3 has cut down on some of the "cute" comedy stuff that overloaded the second season of 2 (it's still got some, it's wouldn't be Illya without it, but it's back to being decently balanced with the rest of the content) and added in a surprisingly dark story and just so I'm not only watching sequels, I'm finding Alderamin on the Sky pretty enjoyable. I watched Re Zero for a while, and it was OK but I really don't get the hype for it. Doesn't help that I find the lead character incredibly annoying (to be fair, he's far from the only anime protagonist that I feel that way about).

I like anime for old oyaji guys. Like this.
No scifi or fantasy elements. Characters mess up, they're dead. The story is compelling and there is decent character development, even for "NPCs" who don't survive an entire episode.

Doesn't help that I find the lead character incredibly annoying (to be fair, he's far from the only anime protagonist that I feel that way about). Oh yeah I remember House saying how 3rei Illya is a lot more FSN like than the previous seasons. I should watch the third season someday so i can watch 3rei which is supposed to be pretty good. I watched the first four Alderamin on the sky episodes but I sort of lost sight of it. Might pick it back up but I don't really like Ikta. He doesn't have that same sassy lazy tactician attitude like Yang Wenli. I can understand it when people find Subaru annoying but in the case of Re Zero you're supposed to find him annoying or cringeworthy (in the case of episode 13) because it's supposed to set up his whole character arc. You're supposed to see him as this guy who's cocky and thinks he's the protagonist in an LN while the world refuses to treat him as one. Personally I like Re Zero because it sort of breaks apart Subaru as a character, Lore, world building, side characters and story. I do need to mention that I've actually spoiled myself on future plot points and that this story is really long. If they would ever fully adapt the story in an anime they would need around 150 episodes. That's how long the author plans to make his story. Or around 50 LN volumes. There is one thing I can say I dislike even as someone who really likes the story of Re Zero a lot. The villians tend to be very crazy. Not all of them of course and in some cases I can see how they ended up in their state and I'm not as bothered by it as I would be with most anime because they always pose an interesting threat to Subaru but still having some more complexity in your villians is never bad.

Yeah, 3rei is definitely closer in feel to Fate, though it still finds room for silly comedy (and 10yr old lesbians....). The third season (2 part 2) was pretty awful though. Rather than mixing up the slice of life-esque comedy bits with the action the way the first two seasons did, we got like 8 episodes of the former followed by 2 of the latter. The final battle was pretty awesome, but it wasn't really worth sitting through some of the crap that came before it. He is indeed no Yang, but I still quite like him. Makes for a nice change from "generic overenthusiastic anime hero no. 256718". The setting also quite interests me. I'm not gonna claim the show is a classic by any means, but it does enough good to keep me watching. I might go back and give it another try at some point, as I have heard a few others saying it gets better in the mid teen episodes. But up to the point I got to (he'd just saved the maids), it was pretty unspectacular.

I really like Gihren's speeches from MSG.
They stand to my eye among the best speeches in anime.
Though I personally think his second speech, is while not as great as the first but still solid all the same and it has its own thematic appeal.

The very location Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi would deliver this speech on December 30th of 0079 at the onset of the the final battle of the war. Gihren was a masterful orator and while many within Zeon would rally others to their cause through speech and word. Few would cause potent reaction as he did among adherents.
