Some other series I've been a fan of in (relatively) recent times. Shingeki No Kyojin (Pretty epic, reminds me of the great big fighting series/DBZ, etc) Toradora (A really sincere, cute, romantic anime) Jojo's Bizzare Adventure (Super long run running gag oriented series, lots of fun, been around forever but IMO some of the later stuff is an improvement over earlier) Kind of ones everyone's pretty familiar with, in essence, still like em, though  |

God the dub of Zeta sounds awful.... A problem with dubs is that often it feels like the emotion is slurped out. They just don't have the emotion that the sub does. Sometimes it ain't so bad, sometimes it's horrid. Of course, there are exceptions to this. |

Code Geass had it's brilliant, clever moments, but as discussed, season 2 kinda went downhill.
Still one of my favorite anime.

I do wonder if there was something in the water at Sunrise around that time as they rather botched the second half of Gundam 00 as well. A very good first season - incidentally sharing some of it's main themes with Code Geass - followed by a second season which threw all the depth and greyness that had made it so watchable out the window. However, at least CG Season 2 was entertainingly stupid, 00 S2 is just boring.

One of the things I loved about Gundam 00 Season 01 is that Gundams weren't the heroic machines, they were the a legit terror which forced several factions to unite against them in order to beat them. Those who fought against Celestial Being despised the very word "Gundam." They were desperate to beat the Gundams. Gundam 00 S2 seems to have thrown that out the window, and Ribbons wasn't really interesting. The OST for Gundam 00 does stick out and helps add to the overall feel of things. |

Speaking of the Gundam. The original Gundam the 78-2 was faced down by a notable Zeon ace at A Baoa Qu in the interlude between its various skirmishes with the Zeong.
The reason I bring it up? Well in the Zeon campaign for 0081 Battlefield Record, you play as this ace. Erik Blanke, Veteran of the Space Attack Force and Earth Invasion, fought at Solomon, Odessa, and A Baoa Qu. He's a semi legendary pilot in Zeon in the same vein as Ramba Ral. However he is not a Newtype, he has skill born of training and experience, not psychic abilities.
Yet if you watch that OVA, you see that Amuro easily outclasses him due to his Newtype abilities, making this veteran pilot repeated miss with a beam rifle even as the machine of death closes in on him.
This discrepancy between the abilities of Oldtype and Newtype are made plain and reveal the startling diffrence and scope of power between say someone like Erik Blanke who is a legend of the Principality and someone like Haman Karn whom is just a figure of infamy by the Federation and AEUG.

Black Lagoon. was great. Skullheart (the collection of side stories) did get rather silly at times (monkeys, the Ball Gundam etc.), but the main story was thoroughly enjoyable and it really pisses me off they haven't made an anime of it (particularly when they adapt crap like Unicorn). Black Lagoon is good.  To continue the hopeful revival of this thread, early thoughts on the current season? Personally, I'm leaning towards it being as bad as I can remember since I started watching anime. Keijo - the ridiculous ecchi show - is actually one of the best things on. And that's not meant as a compliment towards said show.... |

Season 1, Ep 9 Oh the big meeting between Light and L at college I believe, good, good. *Grins* Two episodes. Its early yet but you witness the start of the direct duel between Light and L, Kira and the World's accepted view of Justice. Its going to be a hell of a ride. I honestly wish I could do it all over again, my first time with the series. I joined in a rewatch of the series on Reddit earlier in the year and while fun it wasn't quite the same as sitting down and watching as I did the first time years ago. |

Rewatched Sora. They are taking it off of Netflix so I decided to.
Jesus, it is poor compared to the manga IMO. All that character development and arcs, gone. They really dropped the ball near the end of Forte and then it went insanely downhill with the movies. I still need to continue reading Suu's work Plunderer which by now, should have made some mighty fine progress.
Was told to watch Trinity Seven, dunno if I should or not. I loved Sora (Manga), but I don't watch too many ecchi harems.
Also, finally watched the first three episodes of The Origin. Anyone know when we are getting a forth?
And of course, thinking of other anime, and mechs, Chamber is a bro.
