As the official BSN will get nuked, i'll start this again, but here!
What do you expect/want from the new mako?

Agree with Patricia, the original sucked. And the inclusion in MEA just seems like an excuse to stuff the game with 80 hours of inane filler..."exploration." I am as always open to being wrong though. The only positive is that it's being done by the Need For Speed folks which I didn't think I would like but thoroughly enjoyed.

Mako was clunky and Hammerhead was lolzy.
Some middle ground between the two I guess would be alright.

Well, to be fair... It was the map design that I hated most, and that wasn't even on all of the planets. In fact, it was only on one or two planets that I really hated it.
What do I expect? A lighter feel to the mako. Imagine driving around a Sherman tank as your first mako, then driving a Prius as your second. That's the best analogy that I can come up with, not having played the game.

As helios969 points out, the NFS gang worked on this so I expect it should be a lot more fun to drive (in ME1, it was just... painful). And personally, I love exploration - as long as the environments are interesting to explore. So, we'll see. I'm leaning towards cautious optimism here. My biggest hangup with the Mako though has always been the fact that it even exists in a setting full of flying cars, shuttles, ships, and so on. Why would you build a wheeled anything that is limited by terrain when you have speedy, nimble, hover-capable, flying vehicles available at your local "car" dealership?

I loved the Mako!!! Specially after I stopped using it to climb vertical walls... As I see it the main problem were the maps, so I'm looking forward to what ME:A has to offer in that regard Edit: Running over colussus and geth in general always put an smile on my face

I didn't mind the original Mako. The Hammerhead is what I really hated. What an unfun pain in the backside that thing was to drive. The Mako was slow and it's firing range was limited as well as it's range of sight, but those are things that can be improved on easily enough. I have been avoiding info on MEA so I had no idea the NFS folks were working on the new Mako. Very exciting news indeed! They should be able to whip up something fun to drive.

Hopefully better planets and more agreeable terrain. The controls weren't too bad on the 360 version imo, but you had to have mountain goat DNA in order to traverse some of the planets.

Let's start with Flynn's reason for the Mako and that is you need to get from point A to point B quickly. The Mako gives you that speed.
My Want. The best way to cover any area is via aerial reconnaissance, imo. An aerial platform crammed with futuristic sensors can scan for elements from the periodic table, life via infra red frequencies, moving objects, electronic signals from ancient equipment, even old structures now buried under tons of earth and flora. Spot something? Then land.... it satisfies Flynn's argument very easily... better than a Mako.

Planets map areas made for exploration are custom designed.
Since, according to Flynn, we need the Mako to get from Point A to B in a speedy manner, then it follows that the terrain must allow the Mako to do so. Now, No Mans Sky may have a procedural algorithm to generate terrain but it also creates chasms and steep escarpments, that a Mako cannot maneuver in (ie: I'm currently playing the game). Thus, each planet we will visit, via mission or is just available for us to land in, will be purposely build / designed to permit us to drive our dear and lovable Mako for exploration or just to bring our LI for a delightful looks at the scenery.
Now, that's my speculation but I think it makes sense. Otherwise, if you follow Mother Nature's way of doing things, ancient Remnant Outpost, structures in caves or hidden tech caches would be buried underneath forests, jungles, ice or just made inaccessible due to volcanoes, tectonic shifts or now under water. I give you our very own Earthly excavations of ancient ruins... be Egyptian, Roman or Dinosaur Bones.
So, our beloved Bio artists have worked their posteriors in these creations and we should acknowledge their work.
Do you guys think that planetary terrain was generated by: 1. The FB3 engine 2. Purposely and manually created with a single biome 3. Made for the Mako. 3. A combo of 1 to 3 4. Other.

Hmmm...I started off with ME2, so i'm assuming that was the hammerhead? In any case I don't the exploration of planets with the mako, as long as it's controls are tighter than from what I see others complaining about. I also want to physically get out of the mako and explore the said planet on foot and gather items/fight enemies etc....I don't want to scan a planet and gather an artifact and go to the next planet. i actually want to land, physically get out on foot and explore planets (like how it was done in ME2 for certain missions)

Doing a completionist run in ME1 right now. Been a long time.
I forgo how boring and repetitious driving that damm thing around is.
You can only jump so much, and climb verticals so much, and see how many flips it can do until boredom sets in.
For the love of Christ, none of the same in MEA.
