My dad's family's from the West Country and it is sooo white, I can barely imagine a black person talking like my cousins from Devon. I mean I'm sure there are black guys and gals that do speak like country-bumpkins but I have never heard it. Besides there is a "black accent" in England called Multicultural London English that all the black guys I know speak and I live in the South but not in London. He will probably sound like that or he will sound more "cultured" and speak in RP. I could totally be wrong though.

Mac Walters @macwalterslives just tweeted: Busy review day today. Character customization, and two loyalty missions... including Liam. THEY BETTER HAVE BETTER FREAKING HAIR IN ME:A. I'LL KNOW WHO TO BLAME IF THEY DON'T, MAC. OH, AND DON'T REMOVE PREVIOUS FEATURES FOR NO REASON Ahem. Yeah Sorry, the CC always brings out the rants in me. And sometimes caps. Which is amazing and doing nothing to help my Idris Elba fantasies right now. Wow, I actually just came into this thread to say he should be voiced by Idris Elba! Glad I'm not alone! And I know it's unlikely, but I'd also be okay with him being voiced by Liam... Neeson. Or Steve Valentine. Or Greg Ellis/Jonny Rees. Now I can't stop picturing Liam like this: Today, we are cancelling the apocalypse! Come to think of it, that armour is pretty Mass Effect-y. Now I'll be disappointed when he doesn't look/sound like that

OH, AND DON'T REMOVE PREVIOUS FEATURES FOR NO REASON As everything is new in Frostbite, it would be more appropriate to say some previous features have not been re-included rather than removed. Nitpicky?

"Liam is an ex-police officer who is part of the Pathfinder team and assists with security. Liam is the youthful, enthusiastic, and in some cases, the idealistic follower that you get, While Liam tends to react with frustration and anger when things don't quite go as planned, he's got Ryder's back Liam is hopeful for humanity's new future." Mac Walters / GameInformer (we needed a thread ) Sounds like he should be Scott's boyfriend. Hope it's an option.

OH, AND DON'T REMOVE PREVIOUS FEATURES FOR NO REASON As everything is new in Frostbite, it would be more appropriate to say some previous features have not been re-included rather than removed. Nitpicky? They also used Frostbite for DA:I, and are probably using an updated version of its CC for ME:A (if they're smart). So no, it's still "removing" and not "not reintroducing". Either way, as far as I'm concerned, even working with a new engine isn't an excuse to remove basic features. Edit: PSA: That guy isn't Liam, according to the GI article. It's probably just some random crewmember.

While that isn't Liam, I would think he is probably a fairly important character if they used his face in a marketing image. Maybe he is Andromeda's equivalent of Traynor or Cortez?

I knew that that guy has apparently been confirmed not to be Liam, but that itself raises more questions. Why would they depict an NPC in several promo images on the website, yet be so cagey about wanting to show the face of an actual squadmate? Curiouser and curiouser.

If this isn't Liam (sad puppy eyes from my side), that makes me wonder how old he is going to be. I'm hoping not older than late 30s. Makes sense to bring young people to Andromeda. However, necessary skill and experience might trump youth in certain situations.
What's with all the Idris Elba hysteria lately? He does nothing for me. Not his voice, not his face. Not that big on gruffy voices. The only British actor whose voice turns me to jelly is Cumberbatch.
I'm still scarred from Fenris... as much as I love Emery, I don't think I want him to voice another companion again. Ever.

He might be, he might not. Bioware is odd sometimes I still think he's a random, but we'll see soon enough I knew that that guy has apparently been confirmed not to be Liam, but that itself raises more questions. Why would they depict an NPC in several promo images on the website, yet be so cagey about wanting to show the face of an actual squadmate? Curiouser and curiouser. That's Bioware for you Maybe they're just showing off that they'll have a more diverse set of NPCs? Maybe not? Maybe they're not done figuring out Liam's design? I have no idea. Although I'd think the design is done by now, same with the other main characters, and they just like giving us as little info as possible. Is he in several shots? I've only seen the one. Ever. That's just the nature of subjectivity for you I think he looks and sounds pretty cool, but that doesn't mean anyone else has to. After all, there are plenty of people I'm not crazy about that other people are. Although I wouldn't classify Elba's voice as gruff. Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange is certainly gravelly (and awesome). So is his normal voice (awesome, not gravelly). Interestingly, there are a lot more male actors whose voices I really like than female ones As for Liam, if we can get some idea of his rank in the police, we might be able to guess his age. I think he'll be on the younger side.

Interestingly, there are a lot more male actors whose voices I really like than female ones It's the opposite for me. And it extends to music where it's actually so extreme that the ratio of female to male singers I like is about 90/10... I have an obsession with female vocals. They just sound so much more musical to me. I think it's because I listened to Celine Dion too much in my impressionable teenage years. All of my female friends are much more into male voices. It makes sense too. I adore Claudia Black as Morrigan, as well as Jennifer Hale and Ali Hillis. Oh, and Jo Wyatt of course. Also Laura Bailey has a sweet soft voice. It's not that I don't find any male voices interesting. In fact, I can list quite many, but it's female voices where my ears prick up immediately and I go "Ohhhh, that is a great voice". My favorite male Bioware companions by voice are: Solas, Garrus, Fenris, Kaidan, Thane, Dorian, James Vega. Not necessarily in that order. ( I hate Mark Meer's voice. Really keeps me from playing dudeShep more.)

I'm sooo into voices, I totally get Traynor's thing about EDI , except I go for male voices mostly, even if there are there are some female voices that I love (like Morinth's). Your list of Bioware's male characters is just excelent, btw, and seconding it was my main reason to post, actually I even have an order for it: Fenris, Solas, Kaidan, Garrus, Thane, Zevran (I'd add this one), Dorian, James and Varric (I'd add this one too)... Fenris voice it's just too much And, my wierd fetishes aside , a good voice acting definitely makes a character so much better, it's something I really care about in games. The only thing I don't get much is accents, because my ear for english accents it's awful, I try but it has to be something like Traynors english accent or french accents in DA for me to notice... One day I found out that Miranda had a very distinctive australian accent, I was like I actually made a thread in the old BSN to ask what other obvious accents was I missing, and it turned out I missed a lot of them

I, too, prefer male voice actors BioWARE employs. It feels that all the females always have higher-pitched voices in their games, I am guessing so it is more clear who is a male and who is a female, but it makes them all sound the same to me. I would have love to hear a low, husky or hoarser female for once in a bio game. Actually, speaking of which, would not mind the lower male voices either, because there were not any really in the ME crew that I can think of, save for Thane.
I think my favorite voices were Bounty Hunter, Smuggler and Trooper in SWOTOR, and I actually really like the Male Shepard, and, obviously, Thane.
I do like accents, save for British. Accents is one of the reasons I like Quarians so much. I'd love a character with a German accent, for example. I also would not mind borrowed words from other languages as parts of the dialogue, like in Firefly

Really keeps me from playing dudeShep more.) Oh, it's not that I don't like female voices. That's actually why I was surprised when I realized there were so many more male voices I found cool/distinctive that I could think of off the top of my head; because I like girls, I thought it would be the opposite. But that goes to show it's not really about attraction in this case, it's something else. I'm honestly curious as to why that is, but I'm too tired for introspection/positing theories right now Also, I agree that all of those voices are cool and/or distinctive... except James. Thought his voice was fairly generic That's just me, though. And I like Meer I wonder if it's related to me also liking more male characters in Bioware games, in this case, though? I mean, that wouldn't account for everything other than Bioware games, so I guess not... I should sleep And, my wierd fetishes aside , a good voice acting definitely makes a character so much better, it's something I really care about in games. The only thing I don't get much is accents, because my ear for english accents it's awful, I try but it has to be something like Traynors english accent or french accents in DA for me to notice... One day I found out that Miranda had a very distinctive australian accent, I was like I actually made a thread in the old BSN to ask what other obvious accents was I missing, and it turned out I missed a lot of them I agree that good voice acting is a huge part of what makes a character great and/or memorable. And don't worry, I hear it's very hard to distinguish between accents of languages you're not fluent in What is your native language, out of curiosity? I, too, prefer male voice actors BioWARE employs. It feels that all the females always have higher-pitched voices in their games, I am guessing so it is more clear who is a male and who is a female, but it makes them all sound the same to me. Actually, speaking of which, would not mind the lower male voices either, because there were not any really in the ME crew that I can think of, save for Thane. Really? I've never really noticed this Although if it is true, I seriously doubt it's to help people distinguish between male and female characters. Bioware usually makes sure you know what someone is with their bodies, not to mention I don't think people generally have trouble distinguishing between masculine and feminine voices, high or low.
