Interesting picture from a khet. They seem like they are made of rocks. Wonder if that exoskeleton is as sturdy as it looks. I hope so. I wanna craft armor from the lifeless hides from my enemies!

4 arks? So Humans, Asari, Salarians and Turians...so how did Krogans get there? There are 4 arks, each having their own species + the Nexus, which seems to be a multi-species base (from the briefings on the ME website).

From shinobi on neogaf, details of the Game Informer story on MEA. That's the only part that worries me a little. One thing I always liked about Mass Effect (compared to Dragon Age, for example) was the continuity regarding the main character and his/her story. Actually that's one of the things that really makes Mass Effect stand out. The relationships between Shepard and his crew were so strong because they got the chance to grow over the course of the three games. Yeah, I really hope they just mean they haven't decided if they're going to keep Ryder as the protagonist or not for future games. Hope to god they just stick with Ryder.

This one worries me a lot. One of the bigger problems I had with DA:I was something similar and I think it's based in a misconception, or one of them, that BioWare unintentially extract from positive feedback.
I tend to think of BioWare games as having the "story" part and the "Companions" part and typically they're independent of each other writing-wise, so a plot can suck ass but the character's individual moments or the companion aspect as a whole can be well done, and I think the former notion was true in most of their games but not in DA:I. They tried to take what people loved about Mass Effect 3, which was the closure and celebratory moments; those hard earned payoffs for really getting to know a squad member and applying it almost everywhere. You get to know Varric through 3-4 conversations and a side-mission and it's time to play poker with the gang and "Oh, ha ha ha, aren't we all such wonderful friends now! This does not feel forced in the slightest!".
My point is, that shooting the bottles scene with Garrus in ME3 was good because we already knew and liked Garrus. We could enjoy a great moment of just the two of us being bros because we earned it. I'm a bit worried they took the wrong message for the fan-favoritism for that scene and thought "let's make more of those scenes because that one was really beloved by fans!" because that's not really how it works. If you don't give a reason to care for a companion like that before you throw in such a scene it's going to get on my nerves when it's trying to be endearing.

I'd prefer this be the only game with Ryder and next game have a new protagonist where you can be an alien race rather than forced to be another Superspecialawesome human.

Overall if shinobi is right about all of this, there are quite a few good and quite a few bad things about this game in my opinion.

I'm fond to idea they both could be trilogy protags. That would be something nobody has done before. Two Dragon Ages series in different settings hardly interest me.

If you don't give a reason to care for a companion like that before you throw in such a scene it's going to get on my nerves when it's trying to be endearing. Absolutely nailed it. And it's one of the reasons I prefer the ME trilogy to DA because those relationships build over the course of 3 games to make those moments meaningful. Often in the context of a single game I feel by the time I've gotten to know a given character the game is over. It's why each time Bioware releases a new game the first thing most want to know is so-and-so going to be in the game? When we heard Leliana and Morrigan were coming back for DAI most of us were stoked.

Err.. what's the source of all this? Is this guy some known dataminer or something? Shinobi's a known insider. It's from the Game Informer story, not the articles on their website but the subscription. Well if this is legit, something needs to be addressed. What the actual fuck? Are the naysayers actually right? Did Bioware really just write "and then some people went to Andromeda for some reason" and left it at that? Oh this better be a joke, or a misunderstanding or something. I mean they had it, they had the perfect out and they still fucked it up??? Otherwise, things I found cool: -actual first names! No longer will our characters be so awkwardly referenced in intimate conversation the NPCs might as well be going "I love you, Player1!" -Classless system -Jetpack Things that suck: -No weapons on the notMako? GTFO -Race specific arks- makes it more likely some species won't make it. -Crafting (probably. If made critical)

Oh this better be a joke, or a misunderstanding or something. I mean they had it, they had the perfect out and they still fucked it up??? This is what the briefings on the ME website has to say: "Founded in 2176 and launched in 2185, the Andromeda Initiative is a civilian, multi-species project created to send scientists, explorers and colonists on a one-way trip to settle in the Andromeda Galaxy. With powerful benefactors lending their support, the program has grown substantially in scope since its inception. The Initiative’s ultimate goal is to establish a permanent presence on the seemingly resource-rich frontier of Andromeda, and eventually create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way Galaxy."
So, it seems to be the case. The first names are just the default names. You can still change your first name, so I doubt they'll ever address Ryder by their first name.

Where does it say the game will refer to Ryder by their first name? Unlike Shepard they actually get first names. I believe that is just referring to their default names, like how Shepard was John or Jane. I don't think, or at least would hope, Bioware wouldn't preset the character so much you can't even change their name.
