Oh come on. You should play it because of the story, interesting characters, new things! Not just romance. Even though I agree, I gotta admit I'm highly disappointed. The one character I was rooting for end up completely straight, it doesn't feel nice. But I'm for sure not cancelling my pre-order and will play this game couple of times Just too bad I'm forced to play as Scott to romance Cora. Sara doesn't have such great candidates when it comes to squadmates (Peebee will probably be my ultimate choice, so she better be likable). Yeah. It's really disappointing on its own, and it's even more disappointing considering the company's past history. I remember how Cassandra's thread on the old forum was started by a gay woman, had loads of gay and bi ladies participating in discussion, and while there were some cool straight dudes there weren't that many of them. Then they released the romance information the summer before the game came out and all the queer ladies left and were replaced by new straight dudes who seemed to spend half their time complaining about Cassandra being ugly, which, wow. So if you think this is crushing, yeah, I agree. It, uh, hits a little close to home. But you never know about these things. I wasn't expecting anything interesting out of Sera in Inquisition and she ended up being one of my favorite romances in any BioWare game by the time Trespasser rolled around. By comparison, Cassandra's romance arc was...I mean, I thought it was a little tepid when the game actually came out, while being friends with Cass was actually pretty fun. Maybe I'll be more interested in Vetra, Peebs, or Suvi when I actually get to play with them. And maybe I'll be less disappointed about Cora when I play the game, too.

I disliked Sera as a romantic partner even though I loved her as a squadmate. She was like from another planet, didn't suit to my Inquisitor. Cassandra was amazing, but they destroyed her romance by the end when they refused to let her marry the Inquisitor if she didn't became the Divine. Vetra for sure is out of my book. I was always into Asari (Liara, my dear!), but I don't know how much I will like Peebe. Not sure about Suvi yet. Liam reminds me too much of Kaidan who I seriously disliked and always sacrificed. And Jaal is... well... no, just no.

We really don't know anything about these arcs. If we end up going all the way through Andromeda to find out that queer ladies still don't really end up having a good romance arc, or one that isn't interesting to you personally, well, that's still gonna suck, and I know that pain. But maybe it won't?

If we end up going all the way through Andromeda to find out that queer ladies still don't really end up having a good romance arc, or one that isn't interesting to you personally, well, that's still gonna suck, and I know that pain. But maybe it won't? It happened in DA:I (my fem Inquisitor end up with Cullen). And so far it's extremely difficult for me to judge Peebee. I really don't know if I'll like her or not. She kinda reminds me of Sera... I'm not into Turians and I'm not sure if I'd like to end up with Suvi since she's not a squad member and let's say it's not as enjoyable as being with your 2nd half in the same team on the field (all the jokes and comments and little chats...). Worst case scenario, my Sara will end up single or I'll unlock that "romance 3 people" achivement, lol. I was full of hopes for at least 3 great characters shared by both twins (Cora and Liam were my highest priority) end up with none (Cora is straight, Liam is too Kaidan-like) so far so it already suck. I'm waiting for Sara Trailer right now and I'm trying to find out who I'll chose to play for the first time since I'm forced to play by a guy (DA:I - Cassandra situation once again). But even considering all this, it won't make me cancel my preorder and it won't make me not play the game. I love Mass Effect, I also love Dragon Age. Maybe not as much as I love The Witcher Series, but it's still something I really want to enjoy. I love exploration and I don't see why can't I enjoy it just because devs didn't made all the squadmembers as options for both twins. But I do wonder if they could somehow fix it with some patches. They'd need actors to do some more voices probably, but it shouldn't be impossible, right? Yeah, yeah, I know, it's one of the dreams that will never come true

No... they were being secretive to try and avoid message boards being filled with toxic rants like the one above. Hell, i'm not even sure toxic is the right word for the one in the spoiler tag... that's borderline mental instability. I mean stating a game company 'will pay' for doing something you don't like?! I do feel bad for you guys that didn't get what you wanted out of the 'romances' but some perspective would be useful for you. The reality is it is impossible for them to please everyone when it comes to relationships in this game so there was always going to be some backlash. Bioware were clearly trying to avoid this negatively impacting their marketing.

It isn't possible to please everyone all the time, but it'd possible to please everyone from time to time, making things different in each game. The first companions/humans are always straight, and the lesbian ones are always the most strange ones. Morrigan, Cassandra, Ashley, Miranda are all straight. It'd hurt to make Cora bi just for one single game?

Don't think I'm gonna hunt them down and make them personally pay. I just hope they lose fans and support and hire some new people who actually know how to be inclusive when it comes to romances. It was a kick in the stomach when Ash was straight and Kaidan was bi and it's even worse now. Excuse my mental breakdown. Anyways this will be my last post probably as I have no desire to discuss the game I won't be playing. I'll delete my account soon. To think a company can fuck up so bad that it will make me not buy a game I've been waiting for dearly for five years. (Well I will buy it when it's cheap but not now. ) My last big fuck you to bioware. Peace out guys.

Patches exist and they'll release tons of them for sure so why don't you at least wait and see if they'll unlock Cora and Liam as bi? Until they say otherwise, there's still a slight chance for it, you know? Besides, romances aren't the only and most important things in the games. I agree f/f choices may suck here, just like they did in DA:I, but there's tons of other things to do in the game. I for sure will play as Scott to romance Cora. Here:

If they intended those characters as straight, they likely didn't record any dialogue for Sara/Cora. Which means it'd be a whole lot more than simply flicking a switch and making them bi. You'd end up with some creepy silently staring Ryders, like those DAI mods that unlocked romance options like Cassandra.

Well you give up quickly. I wouldn't do that if I were you. I for sure will play as Scott to romance Cora. ...hate to burst your bubble, but that's not gonna happen. They can always record some more. It happened before in other games where devs forgot about continuity and had to fix their mistakes with a patch so I don't see a reason why wouldn't they do the same. Heck, it even happened with TV Shows - they made a huge mistake which they found out about after the ep was aired thanks to huge negative backlash so they fixed it on DVD mostly by recording different dialogue for a scene. I know it's most likely not gonna happen here though, but it would be nice to see them actually listening to people. They knew Liam and Cora were most wanted (along with Jaal, but he's still unknown) and they failed.

People really cancelled buying the game over romance? Yikes I'm not new to BSN but I guess reasons like these are why I just stayed away from the forums through most of the game life cycle. I just stick to the MP forums for discussion but damn the toxiciness and salt is worse out of the Mp section.

Remind me how they are going to patch a romance when the characters explicitly state they aren't gay?

The game does't end with a romance after all... It's a great addition which makes the game more interesting and enjoyable, but it's not the most important thing.

So people are upset that fictional characters have a sexuality that they didn't measure up to their expectations.
Allright, that makes sense because its just like real life where you learn that someone you are into might not be into you.
I get that. Life's not fair. However, that applies to everyone.
Instead of mindlessly raging about it, take a deep breath, calm yourself down and find a set of characters that have the sexuality that you look for and see if you are interested in any one of them. If you aren't, well that sucks so you can mod the game yourself or wait for someone to mod it for you or rely on fanfiction.
Life sucks and is unfair, but at the same time it has options. There's other fish in the sea.
So cheer up. Evidently, Suvi Anwar appears to have the sexuality that you are looking for.

Right, now let's get back to Cora. I'm interested to see how the romance arc flows.
I'm having a hard time deciding between Cora and Vetra. Help.
